Crew Clash: El Tony Mate focuses on creativity instead of competition

At the El Tony Crew Clash in Davos, five video edits were created within a week, produced by mixed teams of skiers and snowboarders made up of pros and up-and-coming talents. The event deliberately avoided traditional competition formats—the focus was on creative freedom, team spirit, and the shared vibe.

With the El Tony Crew Clash an unconventional event format took place last week in Davos. As part of a contest initiated by El Tony Mate, 28 international ski and snowboard athletes produced their own video edits over the course of five days - without an external jury, without points being awarded, but with plenty of room for artistic expression.

The video was filmed both in Jatzpark and at undiscovered spots in and around Davos. The aim was to create an individual five-minute video that was not only convincing in terms of sport, but also aesthetically and narratively. The Public Day audience and the athletes themselves were responsible for judging the video.

The main prize for the best edit went to the team led by Elio Fumagalli. The crew impressed with a mixture of precise riding, cinematic staging and surreal imagery.

The community concept was a central component of the format. The Public Day on Saturday attracted over 100 people to Jatzpark. The evening presentation of the clips at Chalet Bello demonstrated the broad spectrum of approaches - from humorous to experimental.

The event was organized by Intelligentfood, to which El Tony Mate belongs. The next edition is planned for 2026.

Maybaum for Swisspor: quickly planning a roof

Swisspor has launched an online tool that allows architects, engineers, and planners to design pitched and flat roofs. To mark the launch, Maybaum Film created a high-energy product video designed to inspire people to use the tool.

As a manufacturer of products and systems for energy-efficient building envelopes, Swisspor knows the problems of the target group. Buildings often have to be planned under time pressure, extensive standard specifications and complex requirements in terms of their cost-effectiveness. The "SwissporConfigurator" is designed to help here.

Maybaum Film was commissioned to implement an online campaign to promote the newly launched online tool. The centerpiece is the product video, which shows the advantages and most important functions of the "SwissporConfigurator" in a compact form. In the film, an architect is teleported from his office to different roofs, where he gets to know the core functions of the tool in around one minute. The film focuses on time savings and simplicity, showing how quickly and easily previously time-consuming and complex work can be completed.

A 17-second cut-down was created for the online campaign, which is played out in 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16 formats and accompanied by various banner formats. "Swisspor is the perfect example of an omnichannel campaign with a video-first character," says Michel Alraun, producer at Maybaum Film. "The main film was used to generate all the necessary advertising material to attract attention on all relevant channels."

Spar ends sponsorship of women's handball

After 13 years of successful collaboration, Spar Switzerland and the Swiss Handball Federation are ending their partnership. Their support for women’s handball at the national level will come to an end at the conclusion of the 2025 season.

The Swiss Handball Association SHV and Spar Switzerland are ending their long-standing collaboration at the end of the current season. The retailer's logo has been present in Swiss women's handball since 2012 - including as the namesake of the Spar Premium League, on the national team's jerseys and in the Spar Handball app.

The partnership has contributed significantly to the professionalization and visibility of Swiss women's handball over the past 13 years, as SHV Central President Pascal Jenny emphasizes: "Without Spar, the current successes of Swiss women's handball would hardly have been possible."

With its commitment to women's handball, Spar has used a broad platform over the years and has supported the association not only financially, but also with its app-based club support. According to the press release, more than CHF 200,000 has been distributed to the clubs via this tool.

Now, a reorientation towards more local involvement has led to the dissolution of the partnership. Gary Alberts, CEO of Spar Switzerland, explains: "Due to our new positioning as a fresh food neighborhood market, the focus in communication and thus also in sponsoring has changed significantly." In future, the company wants to concentrate on locally anchored activities. However, the emotional connection to women's handball will remain.

The last joint season will be completed in spring 2025.

Stuiq looks deep into the paint pot for Falkenbier

Founded in 1799, Schaffhauser Falken is one of Switzerland’s oldest independent breweries. The Zurich-based agency Stuiq has secured the beer brand as a client and is bringing a lot of color to the new campaign.

The central element of the current campaign is the new packaging for Falkenbier. This shows the reactivated "retro falcon" logo in different colors, which is used consistently across the entire beer range.

The campaign follows a simple but scalable principle: the visuals each feature a headline in addition to the can. Stuiq thus relies on a reduced but narrative concept that, according to the agency, is intended to emphasize the diversity of the products. "We are very pleased to go out with this fresh look and the diverse subjects and to surprise even Falken connoisseurs. Of course, we will remain true to our traditions and, above all, good taste," says Andrea Imthurn, Marketing Director at Falken. According to information, there will be more subjects in the future.

"Beer advertising is something very special for us. Everyone probably has many different associations, memories and experiences with the cult drink," explains Daniel Baumgartner, Stuiq's account manager for Falkenbier. "Every beer has its own special character and we want to convey this."

The campaign will be rolled out widely to the public, particularly in the core market of Schaffhausen, but will also reach an extended target audience in the neighboring cantons via digital channels.

The venue will once again be "The Circle Convention Center" at Zurich Airport. Thjnk Zurich for Sunrise: Finally travel without annoying WiFi passwords

In Sunrise’s current campaign for its «Swiss Connect» plans, Thjnk Zurich—with the help of some high-profile supporters—makes it clear that the struggle with complicated Wi-Fi passwords while traveling abroad is finally over.

If you're on vacation without roaming, you'll be familiar with the fact that you're always on the lookout for WiFi to stay connected. This is annoying, especially when you have to enter long passwords to use it. Now that roaming is included in all Sunrise "Swiss Connect" subscriptions, this is a thing of the past.

Thjnk Zurich's announcement campaign visualizes this by showing a young woman encountering complex WiFi passwords at hotel receptions in France, the USA, Italy, Portugal and England. Although she patiently and attentively types in the numbers, letters and special characters, she is ultimately unable to connect. A frustration that even the unexpected appearance of Sunrise brand ambassador Roger Federer can hardly make up for.

A mockumentary entitled "Behind the passwords" was also produced for online. In it, the receptionists from the various countries talk off the record about the WiFi passwords and the quality of the internet in their hotels. Statements that make it clear to everyone that you simply want to do without their complexity and unreliability.

Personal online video reach measurable for the first time

In a pilot study conducted by Goldbach, Mediapulse, and Kantar Media, the net reach of online video campaigns was measured on an individual basis for the first time and combined with TV metrics. The pilot took place as part of a Migros campaign and is now set to be developed into a market solution.

(Image: zVg.)

The convergence of TV and online advertising is a key issue for the Swiss advertising market. A current test run by Goldbach, Mediapulse and Kantar Media is now providing the first solution for measuring the personal net reach of online video campaigns - and combining this with TV data. The basis was a three-week own market campaign by Migros Supermarkt in fall 2024, which was played out both on traditional television and via the Goldbach Video Network.

The survey was conducted using Mediapulse's hybrid measurement infrastructure. The digital advertising media were made identifiable with the help of special tagging and could thus be recorded in the Mediapulse panel households - the same basis on which the TV reach measurement is based. Kantar Media was responsible for data analysis and modeling. By comparing the online data with existing TV data, gross and net reach could be shown separately and combined for the first time.

The benefits for advertisers are obvious. Susanne Schlatter, Head of Insights Strategy Media at Migros Supermarkt, speaks of a "huge gain" for campaign planning: "The fact that online reach can also be evaluated in combination with the already established TV reach if required is something that we as advertisers have wanted for a long time."

Goldbach CEO Christoph Marty also emphasizes the importance of the test for the industry: "With this successful first test, we are now taking a big step towards standardized, personalized measurement for online video ads and thus paving the way for the first convergent moving image measurement at campaign level in Switzerland."

For Mediapulse, the pilot is a strategic intermediate step on the way to comprehensive video measurement. Dr. Mirko Marr, Head of Research at Mediapulse, sees the combined measurement of TV, replay ads and decoupled video ads as a key objective: "The current test provides important and encouraging insights into the feasibility of this objective."

The project partners now want to further develop the method and standardize it with a view to the Swiss market. The aim is to create a uniform, transparent measurement solution for all video channels.

GastroSuisse launches industry campaign with Grandits, Oskan and Caminada

With its «Hosts of Switzerland» campaign, GastroSuisse aims to address the shortage of skilled workers and strengthen the image of the hospitality industry. The project is supported by three well-known figures from the Swiss restaurant industry.

Tanja Grandits, Elif Oskan and Andreas Caminada are working with GastroSuisse on an industry campaign. Entitled "Hosts of Switzerland", the initiative is aimed at professionals in the hospitality industry, who are asked to express their enthusiasm for the profession in short videos. The aim of the campaign is to showcase the positive spirit of the hospitality industry and thus attract new skilled workers. The videos are distributed via the Instagram channel @hostsofswitzerland, which serves as a digital stage for the diversity and emotionality of the industry.

At the heart of the campaign is the personal appeal of the three award-winning restaurateurs: "Our industry is so much more than just any job - it is passion, ambition and creativity, driven by the desire to bring joy to others." With this message, the campaign aims to show what the hospitality industry is all about and why it is worth being a part of it.

The figures underline the relevance: According to GastroSuisse, the hospitality industry in German-speaking Switzerland alone has over 20,000 establishments and more than 178,000 employees. In addition to its economic importance, the campaign also emphasizes its social value - for example as a place for encounters, relationships and shared experiences. According to a survey conducted by OpenTable in 2016, eating together in a restaurant is a formative relationship element for many couples.

However, the campaign not only aims to celebrate, but also to address a tangible challenge: the shortage of skilled workers. "Hosts of Switzerland" relies on emotional authenticity to convey a positive image of the professional world. GastroSuisse President Beat Imhof says: "We are delighted to be working with Tanja Grandits, Elif Oskan and Andreas Caminada. They have the charisma to credibly convey their genuine passion for the hospitality industry."

The participants explain their motivation in personal statements: for Andreas Caminada, it's about "creating places that are special for guests and employees". Elif Oskan describes cooking as "emotion - and it goes straight to the heart". And Tanja Grandits appreciates the diversity: "I love how different tastes, traditions and people come together to create something new."

Participation in the campaign is low-threshold: contributions can be submitted via Instagram or email, and collab posts or story mentions are also possible. GastroSuisse sees "Hosts of Switzerland" as a joint project that strengthens the industry from within. Imhof summarizes: "Whether vegan snack bar, country inn or luxury resort - we are one industry and have one common goal: to create unforgettable experiences."
