Plastic currently does not have an easy standing in our society: the energy and resources required for its production and not least the images of growing mountains of waste overshadow the industry's ambitions to address these challenges. That plastic can indeed be part of a sustainable future and is too valuable to simply be thrown away is the overarching message of "Plastics Unwrapped.. The podcast series was launched by Dow, a company active in the manufacture of plastic-based packaging solutions, among other things.

On the derivation of the sound identity, Judy Hicks, Business Communications Leader at Dow Europe, who also hosts the podcast, says: "I was very interested to learn how Department of Noise managed to narrow down our project and its sustainability ambitions and translate them into sound. Throughout the process we were involved and engaged in the development: The sound conveys a sense of hope, optimism, technical know-how and inspiration. It's truly an asset to our entire podcast series."

Due to the current Corona pandemic, most of the conversations took place virtually. Since an effective "roundtable feeling" can only be created through high sound quality, the participants were integrated with the help of local recording studios. Says Judy Hicks: "In the production of the podcast, Department of Noise played a major role in bringing the participants, who were spread all over the globe, together on a virtual level as well. And the quality speaks for itself."

The first three episodes are now available on the usual streaming platforms and will be continuously expanded with new topics and discussion guests in the coming months. The broad-based launch campaign for this underscores the fact that audio-only formats have become an integral part of today's communications mix.

Australia escalates conflict with Facebook and stops ads

The dispute between the Australian government and Internet giant Facebook is escalating. The government will withdraw planned ads on Facebook, Australian Finance Minister Simon Birmingham told Radio National on Monday.

australia-law-facebook

The loss of revenue for Facebook could amount to 10.5 million Australian dollars - about 6.8 million euros - per year, broadcaster ABC reported.

Facebook had blocked news pages on its platform for Australian users on Thursday (Werbewoche.ch reported). Since then, Facebook users can no longer share national or international journalistic content. In doing so, the company is opposing a bill proposed by the Australian government that would in future force Google and Facebook to pay local media companies if they distribute their content. In this way, Australia wants to ensure that advertising revenues are distributed more fairly.

Birmingham called the blocking of the news sites "inappropriate" and accused Facebook of trying to influence "democratic systems." "We will not tolerate this." He added that the government would not deviate from its proposed legislation.

Germany is also facing a reform of copyright law. This involves the implementation of an EU directive that was adopted in the summer of 2019 and is to be implemented by June. The German government emphasizes that the draft law provides for a fair balance of interests that benefits creators, rights exploiters and users alike. But there is also resistance. However, the draft is less radical and the debate more moderate than in Australia. (SDA)

Since the end of 2019, the team around Echowerk has been responsible for the exclusive marketing of the design platform in Switzerland. A little more than a year ago, the full-service motion-picture agency Up Content set out to bring a breath of fresh air to the industry with fast, creative and cost-effective visual content. With this recipe, the young agency is meeting a great need, especially in an environment characterized by uncertainty and short-term planning due to the Corona crisis, according to a statement. "We can react to events at lightning speed and implement every message with well-coordinated teams in a media- and target group-specific manner," managing director Derya Tuna is quoted as saying in the statement. In these changing times, clients are looking for short decision-making processes and want to realize visual content in a highly professional manner within the shortest possible time - from social media clips to DOOH and image films.

In order to position itself even more strongly along this path, Up Content has brought in double reinforcements. Justin Stokes, an experienced creative director and director, has joined the agency. He began his career at the British broadcaster BBC, among others. For many years, he has been a director at Tuna production/HLA London and has worked at Apple.

The team is further strengthened with Eveline Mathis as Client Business Manager. The 34-year-old Zurich native is a trained communications planner and curator and previously worked as a consultant and project manager at agencies including Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett, KSP Krieg Schlupp Partner and Inhalt & Form. Most recently, she was a senior consultant at Wirz Communication.

According to the news website The Information LinkedIn wants to compete with other freelancer platforms such as Upwork or Fiverr with Marketplaces. The platform primarily intends to offer its approximately 740 million users worldwide more professional opportunities. This should increase their activities and create more opportunities for advertising.

LinkedIn already has a tool for finding freelancers called "ProFinder". This feature allows companies to search for candidates for projects based on specific job fields. Marketplaces, however, is designed to make it easier to connect and do business with freelancers.

More freelancers through Corona

Due primarily to the Corona pandemic, significantly more workers have become freelancers. According to a study by Upwork, one-third of employees in the U.S. alone were freelancers in September. A trend toward this form of work is particularly evident among young talent. (pte)

The CH Media Academy starts on Monday

Next Monday, 15 young talents will start their practical journalistic training at the CH Media Academy. Over the next 21 months, they will learn the craft of journalism in the areas of TV, radio and online. The Academy will be led by Radio 24 "Ufsteller" presenter Dominik Widmer.

CH Media_Mood_Radio_2

The first year of the CH Media Academy starts on March 1, 2021. In the two-year practice-oriented journalistic training program at CH Media, trainees learn the craft of journalism in the areas of radio, TV and online.

Trimedial on the pulse of time

The 15 trainees work at the company's five locations in Aarau, Bern/Solothurn, Lucerne, St. Gallen and Zurich. At each location, three Academy participants learn the craft of journalism in the trimedial world of CH Media during their 21-month training. The training consists of three stages. The first stage lasts the longest at nine months, as the principles of the journalistic craft are taught at the beginning. The next two stages last six months each. At each stage, the trainees are immersed in a different medium. The training also includes "off-the-job modules". These one-day training units teach theoretical knowledge about the media genres of radio, TV and online.

Throughout the entire traineeship, each future media professional is supported by a mentor from CH Media. They help them to find their way in the new world of work and the media industry and to develop on a personal level during their training.

Dominik Widmer becomes Head of the CH Media Academy

The Academy is managed by Dominik Widmer. The long-standing "Ufsteller" presenter from Radio 24 represents the Academy externally in his role as head and is the interface between the trainees and the trainers. The 35-year-old, who has been leading media and presentation training courses as well as communication seminars for several years, will also be involved as a lecturer on a selective basis during the training program.

"The CH Media Academy is designed to pave the way into journalism for the media professionals of tomorrow," explains Roger Elsener, Managing Director Entertainment at CH Media. "Thanks to our practical and trimedial training approach, which includes a strong integration into the everyday life of our convergent editorial offices, we prepare future journalists optimally for a successful start in the media industry."

Publicis for Migros specialty stores: Video yet simply on

Migros specialty stores offer video advice live from the stores. The offer is being promoted with a 360-degree campaign from Publicis and is to be continued even after opening hours have been relaxed.

01-Screenshot-aus-Film

Anyone looking at products in the online stores of Melectronics, Do it + Garden, Micasa, SportXX or Bike World is asked via a pop-up window whether he or she would like to be advised by video. With one click, the user is connected live via video with an advisor in a store. Using a tablet installed on a mobile stand, they can move around the store to the desired location and demonstrate products live and answer customers' questions.

According to overall project manager Granit Tetaj, the innovative concept will enable a unique shopping experience: personal advice from home - until 10 p.m. "The response from our clientele has been overwhelming, and the service and personal interaction are very much appreciated."

Now the campaign is being promoted with a 360-degree campaign: In it, "human tripods" are being consulted in the various branches. These consist of a rolling tripod with a tablet on which a customer's head is superimposed. The Publicis creatives were inspired by the technology that is actually used for video consulting. For the cinematic realization, director Kasper Wedendahl and his crew shot the customers' reactions simultaneously with the consultation scenes and played them out live on the tablets - to get a perfect interaction between consultant and customer. "I think we managed to explain this innovation of the specialty stores with Migros charm and a certain lightness," says Matthias Koller, Managing Director of Publicis.

In addition to a main film featuring all the stores, the individual stores advertise with online video ads, display ads, and social media ads, among other things. In addition, various digital and offline owned media of Migros and its specialty stores are used.

Responsible at Migros Fachmärkte: Silvia Girtanner (Strategic Marketing), Christina Gelmi (Strategic Marketing), Flurina Widmer (MarKom melectronics), Simone Blaser (Media), Irene Ackermann (E-Commerce), Granit Tetaj (Corporate Development - New Business GMAA). Responsible at Publicis: Matthias Koller (Managing Director), Peter Brönnimann, Pablo Schencke, Cosima Pereira Köster (Creation), Martin Stauch, Nils Maeder (UX), Daniela Steffen, Katja Klee (Consulting), Suzana Kovacevic (Integrated Producer Prodigious). Responsible at Team Prodigious: Pre press, litho, image editing, motion, programming, realization and production consulting. Long-time major shareholder of BZ Erwin Reinhardt died

Erwin Reinhardt, a longtime major shareholder of the Berner Zeitung, has died at the age of 91. This was reported in obituaries published on Monday.

BZ-Berner-Zeitung-Logo-319696-detailnp
Erwin Reinhardt, a major shareholder of BZ for many years, dies at the age of 91 on February 14, 2021.

Reinhardt is survived by his 83-year-old wife Franziska Reinhardt-Scherz. The Scherz family, which was active in the paper trade, had already been in tacit possession of the Berner Tagblatt. The newspaper merged with two large rural newspapers in 1979 to form the Bernese Newspaper.

The spotlight was on Charles von Graffenried, Reinhardt's lawyer of confidence at the time, as the BZ writes in its obituary. It was not until the early 1990s that Reinhardt's involvement became known. In 2007, the two men sold their media company, now called Espace Media Groupe, to Zurich-based Tamedia.

The Reinhardt and von Graffenried couple also founded the Reinhardt von Graffenried Foundation, which aims to promote quality journalism and presents the Swiss Press Award every year. (SDA)

Political participation: Canton of Bern launches Instagram channel for young people

The channel is intended to communicate with its audience at eye level, as the State Chancellery announced on Monday. It is intended to provide information on topics such as equality, climate and education, and to show how cantonal politics have a direct impact on the lives of young Bernese.

Four students take care of "Bärn c'est nous". According to the state chancellery, they have great editorial freedom. For example, the followers are to take part in surveys, participate in discussions and address members of the government and the Grand Council directly.

The project is part of the Canton of Bern's strategy of also aligning communications with new forms of digital media consumption. The Office of Communications not only distributes traditional media releases, but is also active on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Last year, the bilingual newsroom produced 1034 media releases and 1601 posts. The six social media channels have a total of just over 30,000 followers. (SDA)
