Microspot.ch presents itself with immediate effect in a new dress

Microspot.ch is evolving from a home and consumer electronics retailer into a comprehensive Swiss online shopping destination. This new direction is reflected not only in a significant expansion of its product lineup, but also in improved delivery and customer service, as well as a new visual identity.

Like announced last yearMicrospot.ch is currently undergoing a transformation into a comprehensive non-food online shopping center. The product range is now almost five times as large as it was a year ago. Products from the areas of home, toys, beauty, jewelry, office, garden, sports and much more are being selectively expanded.

From the world of the Coop Group alone, Microspot.ch has already added more than 20,000 non-food products to its extended range, for example from Coop Bau+Hobby, Import Parfumerie and Christ Uhren & Schmuck. More than 1,000 of Coop's most popular private label items, for example from Naturaline, Qualité & Prix and Oecoplan, can now also be found on Microspot.ch.

Microspot.ch is also introducing "Speed" delivery. Customers who order items marked "Speed" by 6 p.m. on weekdays will now have them delivered to their homes the very next day - even on Saturdays and free of charge. In addition, Microspot.ch is introducing "Home Delivery Speed" in eleven major Swiss cities (Basel, Bern, Biel, Fribourg, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, Olten, St. Gallen, Winterthur, Zurich) with immediate effect, thereby shortening delivery times by one day. Customers who order items marked with "Speed" on Microspot.ch by 12 noon on weekdays will have them delivered free of charge to their homes that same evening by CO2-free e-vehicles.

This high speed is possible thanks to the close cooperation with the Zurich start-up "notime". Anyone who browses the online store in these cities between 12 noon and midnight and sends off their order of Speed items can also rejoice, because the delivery will arrive the very next day. As of now, there is no need to think about an order deadline. In addition to the home delivery services, the pick-up options have also been greatly expanded. All orders placed with microspot.ch can now also be conveniently delivered to and picked up from 450 Coop Pick-up locations throughout Switzerland (branches of Coop supermarkets, Coop Bau+Hobby, Coop City and Coop Pronto). This allows customers to benefit from pick-up close to home and, depending on the Coop format, even extended opening hours (for example Coop Pronto).

Microspot.ch meets customer needs in various areas and now offers more contact options with customer service. Concerns and questions about products, orders, additional services, etc. can now also be placed via Whatsapp or chat. In addition, you can now conveniently request a callback at a desired time online.

New branding for Microspot.ch

In addition to the expansion of the product range and improved customer services and delivery services, the new orientation of Microspot.ch is also reflected visually in its appearance. Colors, logo and design have been revised and the newly designed website is intended to provide a clearer and more user-friendly presentation of all relevant offers. The new logo represents the change from a pure home and entertainment electronics provider to a comprehensive non-food online shopping center, and the dot symbolizes Microspot.ch's focused selection. It was derived from the previous logo, which can be found in the stripes of the "M". The colors and the design have become calmer, so that the product selection and the customer himself are even more in focus. The new brand identity of Microspot.ch underpins the new strategic orientation and reduces the communication also on a visual level to the essentials for the customers.

Friendly greetings celebrates summer party for the extended family

On Friday, 120 customers, partners, and friends accepted the invitation to the Garten der Wirtschaft Ziegelhütte. The atmosphere was lively, just like at a big family gathering—and Werbewoche.ch was there.

It was five years ago that Samuel Textor and Pascal Deville founded their agency in a garage. A lot has happened since then: the agency has grown to 20 employees and is now based in a listed stained glass workshop in Zurich's Kreis 4 district. Reason enough for an open-air celebration.

The musical kick-off will be provided by Bernese rapper Greis, who works as a lyricist for Freundliche Grüsse. He will be accompanied by Johny Holiday, the DJ of the Basel hip-hop combo Brandhärd. Holiday is in real life Senior Campaign Manager at Baloise and client of the agency. After a short speech by the two founders, Zurich trap newcomer Lil Bruzy plays a mini-concert. The official part of the anniversary party then ends with the buffet afterwards, before the closest circle of the family turns night into day at around 11 p.m. in the adjacent bowling alley.

Newspapers do not report on female politicians in a stereotyped way

Far from being just about clothes and hairstyles: Swiss newspapers provide balanced coverage of female politicians and do not portray them in a less favorable light than men. Researchers at the University of Zurich have reached this conclusion in an analysis.

poltikerinnen

The study on the media portrayal of politicians takes into account around 1.8 million German-language media articles from 80 newspapers and magazines from the period 2012 to 2018. It was carried out as part of a student project led by Lucas Leemann from the Institute of Political Science at the University of Zurich. The Tamedia newspapers reported on the results on Saturday.

The results showed fewer gender-specific differences than one might expect, the researchers wrote. The press reports on female politicians roughly in proportion to the number of seats they hold. This means that women appear in the newspapers about as often as their male colleagues.

Doris Leuthard mentioned most frequently

Former CVP Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard was mentioned most frequently. The former transport minister received over 62,000 mentions. Among men, former Federal Councillor and SVP patriarch Christoph Blocher topped the hit list with just under 56,000 mentions.

According to the researchers, the topics on which female politicians are mentioned particularly frequently do not follow a clichéd understanding of their role. The search for mentions of leadership skills such as "competent", "intelligent" or "strategic" as well as attributes such as "blonde", "slim" or "charming" revealed that women are even attested more integrity, trustworthiness and honesty than men. However, the difference is insignificant, the authors write.

Appearances rarely an issue

According to the researchers, it is rather the personal profile of the female politicians that is decisive for the reporting. Appearances such as figure or hair are generally rarely discussed, according to the study. However, there is a certain discrepancy when it comes to clothing, which is mentioned more frequently among female politicians than male politicians. The researchers have a possible explanation for this: the dress code is less restrictive for women and allows for more individuality, Christopher Huddleston from the team of political scientists involved in the study told the newspaper.

Next comes the study concluded that more positive and less emotionally charged words are used for female politicians than for male politicians. However, these differences are slowly becoming smaller. (SDA)

"Tschau Bibeli": Mind Studios launches social media campaign for Leucen

The Basel agency Mind Studios has designed an online campaign for Leucen that specifically targets young people and draws attention to the products in the acne line.

Leucen_Akne_Persoenlich_940x528px_Boy

Puberty causes many a complication in the lives of teenagers. These include the typical skin blemishes that affect many girls and boys. In keeping with Murphy's Law, an unwanted pimple in the middle of the forehead usually appears when you least need it: the day before that long-awaited date with your school crush.

Mind Studios is focusing on this situation in its current online campaign for Leucen's acne line. "Tschau Bibeli - Hallo Luca" and "Tschau Bibeli - Hallo Selena" are the names of the two subjects, which are played out in different formats on Instagram and Snapchat.

Emergency plan via Snapchat and Instagram

Links from the social media platforms lead to a campaign landing page where young people can find videos, product information, tips and even an "emergency plan". There is also a competition to win a "Tschau-Bibeli set" consisting of a wash gel, toner, swab and concealer. In order to address the target groups as personally and individually as possible, two different versions of the website have been created - one for Girls and one for Boys. In this way, the specific needs of visitors can be better addressed and served.

ADC Switzerland wants to represent Switzerland at Cannes Lions

In an open letter, ADC Switzerland responds to Weischer.Media’s «surprising and last-minute» announcement that the Young Lions will be limited to the Media category. The association has offered to take over representation in the future.

home-bild-offenerbrief-adc

As of next year, Switzerland will no longer be represented at the Young Lions competitions in Cannes. On Tuesday, WerbeWeischer Switzerland announced that the search for the best young talent in the film, print and digital categories will no longer be pursued for the time being and that the focus will now only be on the media category (Werbewoche.ch reported).

The fact that the other youth categories have been dropped is of course a talking point. ADC Switzerland has now also commented on the issue in an open letter.

Surprising, short-term and incomprehensible

According to ADC Switzerland, the announcement came as a "surprise and at short notice" - especially in view of the qualifying competition that ends at the end of August - and the decision to reduce the Young Lions competitions to just the Media Young Lions is "incomprehensible".

ADC Switzerland also writes about fears that are coming true that Switzerland "is only being treated as an appendage of Germany". As a representative of the entire festival, one cannot seriously refer to its core business and simply leave out all other disciplines. Not only the many young creatives, but also the entire Swiss communication and advertising industry would suffer from these measures, as further training and talent development are central to the investment security of clients.

ADC would like to take over representation

From the numerous discussions that ADC Switzerland has held with various associations, partners, agencies and clients over the past few days, there seems to be "great solidarity" to continue the Young Lions Competition in all existing categories. ADC Switzerland has offered to "immediately take over the representation" of Switzerland at Cannes Lions, as Weischer.Media "is apparently unable to bear the investment in the Young Lions competitions". Every effort is to be made to hold the "qualifying competition (ADC Young Creatives Award) for the Young Lions Competition in all categories in January 2020 after all."

The letter was signed by the Board of ADC Switzerland and its members, the Federation of Public Relations Agencies in Switzerland BPRA, the KS/CS Communication Switzerland Presidium and the Swissfilm Association.

The agencies Mediaschneider and Hoy will now be handling business for the asset manager Baloise Asset Management.

BAM_2000x926_S6

From now on, the agencies will be responsible for marketing Baloise Asset Management's branding campaigns. The collaboration with Mediaschneider and Hoy includes media consulting, strategy and planning across all channels.

The campaign will start from mid-August and will be on display until mid-December.

Content and form: New brand identity for Baloise Asset Management

The Zurich agency Inhalt und Form has created an artistic digital campaign for Baloise Asset Management.

inhaltundform-baloise-asset1

Success-based and at the same time security-conscious asset management is an art. For the new strategy and the resulting campaign for the B2B sector, Inhalt und Form also incorporated this aspect: "We wanted to bring a touch of emotion to such a supposedly dry subject as asset management," says Marcus Josty, Creative Director Art at Inhalt und Form. "So we came up with the idea of presenting Baloise Asset Management's services in an artistic setting. And in a modern and fresh way. With the marketing managers at Baloise Asset Management, we found the right partners to put this idea into practice."

In the search for a suitable artist, the agency came across motion graphic artist Andreas Wannerstedt. The Swedish artist worked with the content and form creatives to create artistic animations and images specifically for the campaign, tailored to the services of Baloise Asset Management and the various asset classes. The animations are accompanied by sensitive music composed by the Hamburg-based Audio Consulting Group.

The animations and static images have been in use since Friday in the form of a digital campaign and can be seen on target group-specific online platforms as video, native and display ads as well as on the digital screens in the Swiss Lounge at Zurich Airport.

The campaign is complemented by posters and advertisements in the trade press.

Freenet CEO Vilanek: "The market does not want the UPC takeover".

Christoph Vilanek, CEO of the German telecommunications company Freenet, has harshly criticized Sunrise’s board of directors and, in an interview with *Handelszeitung* published online on Friday, referred to a «gross abuse of shareholder democracy.».

upc-2

Vilanek says: "I always thought that in Switzerland, too, a company belongs to the shareholders and not to the Board of Directors. But the Sunrise Board of Directors doesn't seem to share this understanding."

Freenet owns just under 25 percent of Sunrise and is therefore the largest shareholder in the telecommunications company. Vilanek is resolutely opposed to Sunrise taking over UPC, as planned by the Board of Directors. In return, the Sunrise Board of Directors under Chairman Peter Kurer has decided to exclude the Freenet representatives from future discussions on the UPC transaction.

Vilanek is in the Conversation with the Handelszeitung optimistic that he will be able to prevent the UPC takeover at the extraordinary general meeting. Since he announced on Friday that he would vote againstWe received many calls from investors who share our opinion. They told us that they would vote against at the AGM. And these were not small shareholders." He continues: "The market doesn't want this. Obviously all the hedge funds are short on this."

If the management was so sure "that the transaction would go through easily, then it could argue quite relaxed: Freenet is against it, the rest are for it. The aggressiveness that has recently been heard in all the statements clearly shows that there are many institutional investors who have massive doubts about the transaction."

Negative news dominates television news programs

Accidents, disasters, politics, and sports—the news provides daily updates on the most relevant topics and events around the world. A study examined whether German prime-time television news programs tend to present a predominantly positive, negative, or neutral perspective.

tv-46909_1280

To this end, a quantitative media content analysis was carried out over the course of a week on the public broadcasters "Tagesschau" and "Heute" as well as the private broadcasters "RTL Aktuell" and "Sat. 1 Nachrichten". The contributions were evaluated for their neutral, negative or positive valence as well as the topic categories.

In the week of the survey, around 146 posts were characterized by negativism, 123 were neutral and nine were positive. An increased negative bias was particularly evident in social and foreign policy topics. Domestic policy, on the other hand, was largely neutral. The news reports analyzed were therefore predominantly negative.

For Professor Hermanni from the SRH Fernhochschule, there is a good reason why domestic politics is largely kept neutral: "Public service broadcasting is obliged to be balanced and it fulfills this mandate especially when it comes to domestic political issues. No wonder, because party representatives sit on the supervisory committees and control reporting in their own interests."

A comparison of the public and private news programs showed that "Tagesschau" had a balance between negative and neutral contributions. In the public service program "Heute", the negative valence predominated minimally. A similar picture emerged for "Sat. 1 Nachrichten". The program "RTL Aktuell", on the other hand, had significantly more negative reporting. There were a total of 50 negative, 36 neutral and only six positive reports. "One reason for this negative dominance is that social issues received the most airtime. As the analysis showed, this genre is clearly negative in all programs," says Tatjana Schiller from SRH Fernhochschule. Social issues include reports on misfortunes such as thefts, crimes, deaths and environmental problems.

"The study has thus shown that prime-time television news coverage is clearly negative. This naturally also has an impact on viewers' perception of their own ways of thinking and views on life, as well as on world events. In this context, the question arises as to why the television news does not show positive events that occur worldwide on a daily basis to a greater extent," concludes Professor Hermanni.

The study was carried out as part of Tatjana Schiller's Master's thesis in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Alfred-Joachim Hermanni at the SRH Fernhochschule.
