Rosenstar creates image brochure for Lucerne tax office

The Lucerne agency Rosenstar has given the Canton of Lucerne's tax office a modern design concept in a new image brochure. This is intended to bring the use of tax money to the fore.

The new brochure is intended to show that the Lucerne Tax Office is a modern, open-minded company, the agency said in a statement. In designing it, the agency focused on open and descriptive information: "We wanted to focus on the benefits of tax money," says Jana Yaacoub of Rosenstar. For example, the maintenance of an extensive network of hiking trails, an intact education system or reliable waste disposal - services that the canton could not provide without tax contributions. Although this is clear, it is often forgotten, says Jana Yaacoub.

With full-page pictures from the canton of Lucerne, meaningful graphics and personal quotations, the reader is shown in a striking, understandable way where his tax money goes - and what tasks the Tax Office takes on. In the same breath, a mission statement for employees was also created - in a practical pocket format and visually based on a subway network map.

Wirz designs new campaign for Small World

When languages are not used, they are forgotten. Wirz’s latest project for its client, Small World Language Travel, is based on this insight.

Atmospherically staged by Swiss photographer Jonathan Heyer, it shows words rusting and gathering dust, unused and forgotten. "Language stays are mostly booked not to learn a language from scratch, but to reactivate existing knowledge, to deepen it and to intensively apply everything learned. That's what the new campaign is meant to express," says Small World Managing Director Karen Kurzmeyer.

The rotten words are used as posters, advertisements and as online banners.

Last but not least: NZZ one year too early

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung is establishing itself as a leading media outlet in the fashion world and is presenting the 2013/14 winter collection.

"We are living in serious times in which we have to set priorities," the NZZ quotes Tomas Maier, Creative Director of the luxury brand Bottega Veneta, in its latest newsletter. Because in fashion, as elsewhere in the face of the economic crisis, the motto is: "Back to business". The preview of the 2013/14 winter collection, announced by NZZ style expert Jeroen van Rooijen, is therefore number one in the Nzz.ch Top News in the morning. The new designs for winter, which will not return for another year, are less confusing than the core themes announced by the NZZ. Or where exactly were the NZZ's priorities again? Since fashion suddenly seems so incredibly important for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, we can only conclude that the NZZ wants to present itself as the new leading medium for fashion. "Leading the way everywhere" would be another symbolic motto in this context, which has certainly been used in the fashion industry before. (uma)

UPC Cablecom: Horizon campaign annoys Biel residents

UPC Cablecom is upsetting consumers in Biel with a Horizon campaign. The problem: The new set-top box isn't even available in that region.

Like 20min.ch reportsUPC Cablecom's broad-based marketing campaign for the newly launched Horizon box (Werbewoche.ch reported) in Biel for red heads. Biel has a "huge backlog" when it comes to the construction of fast fiber optic lines and high-speed Internet is available everywhere. The fact that coverage is so poor in the "city of communication" is a source of irritation for many Biel residents.

It is therefore not surprising that the Wunderbox posters in public places in Biel are not very well received. UPC-Cablecom spokesman Marc Maurer told 20min.ch that, unlike most other major Swiss cities, Horizon cannot be offered in Biel for capacity reasons. However, residents could continue to order the existing set-top box. It remains to be seen whether this argument will appease the people of Biel. After all, the previous Cablecom boxes have made a name for themselves in the past with their user-friendliness, high power consumption and lack of functionality. (hae)

Adwebster massively expands its reach in Ticino

The digital advertising network Adwebster has significantly expanded its network in Italian-speaking Switzerland over the past few months. This was no easy feat, as people in Ticino mainly visit Italian-language websites.

Michel Lazecki, COO of Adwebster, explained the move in a press release on Tuesday as follows: "We have been the market leader in the digital advertising network sector in Switzerland for some time and reach over 90 percent of Swiss online users on a daily and live basis. Until now, however, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland has only been covered marginally by us. Since over 85 percent of Italian-speaking Internet users in Switzerland surf on websites in Italy (.it), the development of the "Royal Network CH-IT" also required intensive development of the Italian market - the additional effort was considerable. However, it has long been a concern of ours to complete our successful "Royal Networks" (= all premium channels combined) in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland with the corresponding counterpart for Ticino and the other Italian-speaking regions."

Consisting of 33 premium websites such as Ticinolibero.ch, Sportlive.it, Azionis.ch or Pianetamamma.it from Switzerland and Italy, Adwebster now offers its customers with the "Royal Network-CH-IT" the opportunity to achieve a large, constant Swiss-wide premium reach, with cross-website capping to control the net reach, with the proven Adwebster profile targeting and 100 percent controlled by individual placements.

Koch: Little railroad etiquette for Thurbo

Whenever a large group of people is together, there are a few rules to follow to ensure everyone feels comfortable. For example, when riding the train. Koch has created a train etiquette guide for Thurbo.

As an important public transport company in the region of Eastern Switzerland, Thurbo wanted to draw attention to these rules and commissioned Koch Kommunikation to develop a small guidebook, according to a statement. The guide was not intended to be schoolmasterly, but rather to point out the correct behavior on the train with charm and a twinkle in the eye, and to communicate other important information about train travel. Koch therefore decided to lighten up the guidebook with comic-style illustrations and to include a few witticisms in the text.

A competition with questions that can be answered with the help of the guidebook is intended to help ensure that the information is studied carefully. The guidebook will be available on trains, distributed by rail staff and advertised on posters on the train.

Responsible at Regionalbahn Thurgau: Elodie Schwab (Sales and Marketing Manager). Responsible at Koch Communication: Jean-Marc Demeulemeester, Christoph Fuchs (creation); Philipp Koch (consulting). Illustration: Daniel Frick.

Axel Springer Switzerland discontinues Stocks print edition

The print edition of the investor magazine *Stocks* is coming to an end: Axel Springer Switzerland is discontinuing the glossy magazine because banks have drastically cut their advertising budgets. Without ads from this sector, *Stocks* is no longer profitable.

The advertising market has changed dramatically in recent months, said Thomas Garms, Managing Director of Axel Springer Business Media, when asked by the SDA news agency. The banks are making noticeable savings on advertising. For Stocks, which lives primarily from advertising in this sector, this is fatal. The last print edition will be published on January 30, according to a press release from the publisher on Tuesday. It was only last late summer that the publication frequency was reduced from fortnightly to once a month. According to WEMF figures, Stocks achieved a paid circulation of 20,179 copies in 2011. Due to the switch to monthly publication, the circulation was no longer certified in 2012.

Ten employees are made redundant

Around ten people are affected by the discontinuation of the magazine. They will be made redundant. However, the name Stocks will not disappear from the market. In future, the magazine's content will be distributed digitally on the so-called Wirtschaftsnetz. The business network at the address Finances.ch is a merger of the online editions of Bilanz, Handelszeitung and Stocks. Investors can find stock market news, real-time price data and information on shares, funds, commodities, structured products and foreign exchange. (SDA)
