Ruf Lanz for Suva: thanks to physicians

Reintegration is one of Suva’s key priorities for the coming years. Ruf Lanz has already launched a TV campaign on this topic. This will be followed by targeted thank-you ads directed at doctors.

It should show that the successful reintegration of injured persons also requires the support of work colleagues. This is because moral support enables the patient to better mobilize the necessary self-healing forces and return to work more quickly.

Now come targeted thank-you ads to the doctors and nursing staff who contribute day after day to the reintegration of accident victims. The advertisements will appear in the medical press.

Zürich Tokio designed and developed an online store for Cou Cou Les Belles. The agency had previously created the website with a minimalist design.

The open source store software Magento was used to create a customized Online store-solution, which not only impresses with its attractive layout, according to the agency. Product information management and the handling of the sales process can be done intuitively via the backend. Additional functions such as the integration of credit card payment options, automatic calculation of shipping costs, temporary promotions and various statistics offer everything you would expect from a modern online store.

18th Crisis Summit at the University of St. Gallen

Media spokespersons and journalists will gather on June 12 for the Swiss Crisis Communication Summit at the University of St. Gallen. The event will focus on how companies, government agencies, associations, and policymakers can successfully manage crises.

Whether it's the tunnel accident in the canton of Valais, the kidnapping of Swiss citizens in Yemen or "shitstorms" against Swiss companies on Facebook - there are more than enough occasions for crisis communication and reputation management for Swiss media spokespeople and communication managers. The organizers write this in a press release on Presseportal.ch. 14 speakers, including from the National Emergency Operations Center of the Federal Office for Civil Protection, Siemens Switzerland, the Swiss Nuclear Forum and Ricola, will report on their experiences with communication in critical times in case studies and keynote speeches.

Roman Geiser from the Association of Public Relations Agencies in Switzerland and Roger Huber from the Swiss Association for Crisis Communication analyze how companies and authorities can protect their good reputation even in bad times. Communications manager Daniel Bärlocher from Swiss International Air Lines outlines the successful restructuring of Swiss and company spokesman Stefan Nünlist reports on how UBS Switzerland has used communications to manage the financial market crisis and steer the bank back on the road to success.

"Successful crisis communication depends on a mixture of forward-looking crisis prevention, sound communication experience and a good dose of luck," says summit initiator Frank Roselieb, Director of the Krisennavigator - Institute for Crisis Research, a spin-off of Kiel University. "To prevent reputational damage, those affected must communicate on many channels simultaneously in real time."

The Swiss Crisis Communication Summit 2013 is the eighteenth summit of the Kiel Crisis Navigator. It is aimed at communication managers and media spokespersons, crisis managers and media lawyers, academics and managers from companies, authorities, associations, the media and politics.

In a panel discussion, business journalists Christian Kolbe (SRF) and Sandro Spaeth (20 Minuten Online & Print), Federal Parliament correspondent Urs Paul Engeler (Weltwoche), editor-in-chief Bernard Maissen (Schweizerische Depeschenagentur), deputy editor-in-chief Markus Diem Meier (Finanz und Wirtschaft) and Simon Tribelhorn (Managing Director of the Liechtenstein Bankers Association) will explore the direction crisis reporting is taking in the age of media convergence.

Event partners of this year's summit are the professional and industry associations Bund der Public Relations Agenturen der Schweiz BPRA and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Krisenmanagement DGfKM as well as the press service provider News Aktuell Schweiz. Media partners supporting the Swiss Crisis Communication Summit 2013 are the trade journals Persönlich, IO Management and Krisenmagazin.

The Swiss Films Foundation Board has appointed Catherine Ann Berger as director of Swiss Films. She currently holds various positions in the film industry.

Catherine Ann Berger will take over from Micha Zhivov on May 1, 2013. According to a press release issued by Swiss Films on Tuesday, 38 applications were received for the position of Director of Swiss Films. Following a multi-stage selection process, the Board of Trustees chose Catherine Ann Berger.

Catherine Ann Berger currently works as an editor in the area of co-productions and Pacte de l'audiovisuel for animated films at Swiss Radio and Television SRF and as a freelance script consultant for international feature and documentary film productions. She is a member of the board of directors of Theater Neumarkt in Zurich and sits on numerous expert commissions in Switzerland and abroad, including the Austrian Film Institute's script department and Focal's script coaching pool. Tamedia wants to save a total of CHF 34 million by 2016

The Zurich-based media group Tamedia apparently plans to cut 34 million francs from its newspaper operations in Switzerland. Of that amount, 18 million francs will come from the French-speaking Swiss newspapers Le Matin, 24 Heures, and Tribune de Genève.

Their editors-in-chief now want to seek talks with the Group management. Pierre Veya, editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Le Temps, which is also a subsidiary of Tamedia, confirmed a corresponding report on Tuesday by the French-speaking Swiss radio station RTS. However, Tamedia shares more than 90 percent of the share capital with the Ringier media house. However, unlike Le Matin, 24 Heures and Tribune de Genève, Le Temps is not affected by the current cost-cutting measures, Veya told the news agency SDA. His newspaper had already introduced cost-cutting measures last fall.

However, it will not be clear until the second half of the year how much will be saved on which products. The plan is to save CHF 18 million in French-speaking Switzerland and CHF 16 million in German-speaking Switzerland. Tamedia spokesperson Christoph Zimmer confirmed a corresponding report by the French-speaking Swiss radio station RTS on Tuesday.

CHF 6 million of the total CHF 34 million are to be saved in 2014, a further CHF 14 million in 2015 and the remaining CHF 14 million by the end of 2016. However, Zimmer emphasized that these figures are only theoretical assumptions. Tamedia will decide on the specific measures in the coming weeks and months. Zimmer was unable to say to what extent staff will be affected. Tamedia employees have already been informed of the savings program by e-mail.

Profit down by 15 percent

The plans were triggered by falling sales of magazines and newspapers. In order to be able to continue to invest in new business areas and remain capable of acting, costs must therefore be reduced, said Zimmer. However, Tamedia will not only be making cutbacks in newspapers and magazines over the next two years. Savings are to be made "wherever there is something to be corrected", i.e. also in the online portals, in printing and in the service area.

The 34 million francs that are to be saved correspond to 3.5 percent of Tamedia's total turnover. Five days ago, the company announced an annual profit of CHF 152 million. However, the Group management was not satisfied with the result because it was 15 percent worse than in the previous year.

Journalists' association Impressum dismayed by Tamedia's cost-cutting plans

The journalists' association Impressum is dismayed by the media group Tamedia's plans to cut back on its operations in French-speaking Switzerland. The diversity of the press and the quality of reporting would be jeopardized as a result, the association writes in a statement.

The announced cost-cutting measures at Le Matin, 24 heures and Tribune de Genève amounting to CHF 18 million would inevitably lead to redundancies. It is also very likely that the various newspaper titles will be merged. As quality information is important for society and cannot be compared with any other consumer product, Impressum appeals to the social responsibility of the Zurich media group.

Tamedia is a very healthy group, explains the journalists' association. It is true that profits fell by 15 percent in 2012 compared to 2011. But firstly, 2011 was the best result in the Group's history, and secondly, a profit of CHF 152 million was achieved in 2012. (SDA)

Last but not least: there are other ways to present a company

You can design a business presentation that’s professional and inspires confidence—ideally under the guidance of an expert in this field. Or you can have the Teletubbies bounce around on the screen and hope that a few customers will still take the bait...

Or you could do it completely differently and have the concept developed by a 5-year-old, have your employees sing and put the whole thing on YouTube. It would look something like this:

Trendcommerce processes bank vouchers for Raiffeisen

Trendcommerce processes all banking documents for all 321 Raiffeisen banks and branches of Raiffeisen Switzerland. The new high-security printing center in Gossau complies with FINMA’s security standards and is certified in accordance with the ISAE 3402 outsourcing guidelines.

State-of-the-art, environmentally friendly technology and intelligent processes allow secure, fast and flexible production, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. This means that the company is ideally equipped to take over highly sensitive printing and dispatch processes for banks, insurance companies and other companies with sensitive data. The outsourcing of the print management division makes sense for Raiffeisen for various reasons: "In the long term, this measure will not only bring us significant cost savings, but also much more flexibility through the use of color digital printing. In addition, we were convinced by Trendcommerce's secure, environmentally friendly technology and professional team. The fact that Trendcommerce has also taken on 15 Raiffeisen employees also speaks for a strong partner," says Adrian Töngi, Head of Front Services, explaining the move.

Press monopoly falls: 16 new daily newspapers in Burma

In Burma, the nearly 50-year-old state monopoly on daily newspapers will end on April 1. Sixteen private publishers have been granted licenses for daily newspapers, eight of them this week, the state-run daily Kyaymon (English: Mirror) reported on Tuesday.

The publishing house also produces the government's English-language mouthpiece, the New Light of Burma. Previously, private newspapers were only allowed to appear as weeklies. In addition, until August 2012, editions had to be submitted to the censor before publication. Journalists and editors are still subject to strict conditions. They can be prosecuted for their publications.

A new media law is stuck in parliament. Its adoption was postponed in mid-March after harsh criticism from journalists at home and abroad. Among other things, it would have banned topics such as the controversial constitution or reporting on events that could fuel unrest.

In 2011, military rule ended in Burma after almost 50 years. The civilian government consists mainly of retired generals, but is taking steps to open up the country. (SDA)

TBWA\Zurich: More Value to what you love

McDonald's current poster campaign is about more than just posters: the journey to get there has already become an important part of the campaign.

Accordingly, the campaign's motto is "More Value to what you love". It means "fun and get-togethers at McDonald's," the agency said in a statement Monday. Guests could sign up to shoot the campaign, stop by a select McDonald's restaurant and snap photos of themselves and their friends using a self-timer. The only requirement: the new McDeal menu had to be in focus. All the pictures could be viewed and commented on in the McDonald's Facebook gallery. The eight best shots ultimately made it onto the billboards, which can be seen throughout Switzerland this March.
