By Heart for Annabelle: The image of the woman

Annabelle has been dealing with the diverse, multi-layered image of women for 75 years. By Heart has made precisely this broad and highly individual image the core of the magazine's new image.

The team around Creative Director Hans Siegwart has chosen a photographer who has already made a name for herself worldwide with her portraits of women. The Argentine Paola Kudacki, winner of Marie Claire's "Prix de la Mode" as "Photographer Of The Year 2010," now lives and works in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles, and could only be won over for the Annabelle shoot because she was fascinated by the concept: portraits were to be taken of strong Swiss women who go their own way and whose beauty lies precisely in their idiosyncratic, uncompromising personalities.

There is Carla Juri from Ticino, who was in the spotlight at the Berlinale just a short while ago, who was named the best Swiss actress of last year for her portrayal of Annamarie in "Dällebach Kari" and who will soon be playing the lead role in the film adaptation of "Wetlands" by Charlotte Roche. There is also Sarina Arnold, who for a long time had an international career as a Swiss top model, is still known to many Swiss people as "Buttermeitli" and with her unique charm and naturalness has no trouble finding her happiness and success today away from the catwalks and flashing lights. And finally, there is Susanne Bartsch, who, with determination and a healthy dose of extravagance, has carved out a top position for herself as a producer and entrepreneur in New York's nightlife. In the new campaign, these idiosyncratic and gripping portraits of women are representative of a magazine that draws its relevance from a subject that, with a Paola Kudacki, can be shown more attractively than ever.

Responsible at Annabelle: Daniel Schnüriger (Publishing Director), Sandra Gmür (Marketing Manager), Lisa Feldmann (Editor-in-Chief). Responsible at By Heart: Hans Siegwart (Creative Director), Markus Bircher (Strategy/Text), Martin Kurzbein and Nonda Coutsikos (Art Director), Natascha Breu (Realization), Cécile Schurtenberger (Consulting), Paola Kudacki (Photo).

Tamedia pushes ahead with digital self-marketing

Tamedia plans to acquire the operations of the Premium Publisher Network (PPN) in early 2014. With this move, the media group is continuing to implement its strategy of exclusively marketing its own digital media.

PPN's current offering is expected to remain unchanged until the end of 2013, according to a press release. The basis for the new offering from 2014 will at least be Tamedia's digital network, which includes platforms such as 20 Minuten Online, the Newsnet partner sites in German- and French-speaking Switzerland, the Search.ch and Doodle.ch service platforms and classified portals such as Homegate.ch and Car4you.ch.

Tamedia reaches around 75 percent of Swiss Internet users with its digital portfolio. PPN will be part of the newly created Digital Advertising & Services unit and will be responsible for the definition and marketing of cross-product digital advertising offers. Thanks to exclusive in-house marketing, the media company can guarantee its advertising customers target group-specific and controlled advertising placements as well as transparent prices in a high-quality premium environment.

The NZZ Media Group, Ringier and Tamedia launched the advertising network in 2011 together with cXense as a technology partner. The previous partners NZZ Media Group and Ringier have decided not to participate in the takeover of PPN's activities in order to continue working with different advertising networks. However, the three existing partners have agreed to examine the continuation of cooperation in the area of performance advertising.

Beer labels: After the customs, the costumes

Last year’s label campaign featuring Appenzeller beer and highlighting Appenzeller customs was well received. That’s why Appenzellerland Tourism is now showcasing Appenzeller traditional costumes in a new edition.

The traditional costume is the most beautiful dress for Appenzell wearers and is one of the most ornate and varied traditional costumes in Switzerland due to its elaborate handcrafted production, according to a press release. The traditional costume is often worn in Appenzell - especially on special occasions: At "Stobede", at the "Öberefahre" on high Catholic holidays, at family celebrations and at the cattle show.

Special attention should therefore be paid to this custom. A new series of beer labels tells of the different women's and men's costumes as well as details of the traditional costumes. How do the Ausserrhoder and Innerrhoder red "Liibli" differ? There are also explanations about the studded suspenders, the real hair jewelry and the "Ohreschuefe". In addition to the description, each label indicates where and on what occasions the respective traditional costume can be viewed.

The labels can now be found on the 0.5-liter bottles of "Lager hell" from Appenzeller Bier. Around one million beer bottles will be on sale throughout German-speaking Switzerland over the next few months. The motifs will be changed every month. The traditional costumes are also described in detail on the websites of the two tourism organizations. Collectors can order a free and complete set of labels online at Appenzell.info or Appenzellerland.ch order

Marketing Manager Cornelia Marending on the decision in favor of the Biel-based company: "Erdmannpeisker impressed us with a concise UAP and the campaign idea. The concept approach, which can be applied well to different media formats and underlines Michel's high quality and naturalness, convinced us."

Last but not least: Justin Bieber for $15

Facebook is testing a new way to cash in on the social media behemoth. For a fee, users will be able to contact celebrities or other unknown individuals. They’re surely already thrilled—especially since they won’t see any of the money.

The future of Facebook is written in the stars. Probably not too rosy. The young find the network uncool, the old are annoyed by the lack of data protection and constant innovations. The changes are being made to make the social giant more interesting for the advertising industry. One cannot shake off the impression that the giant is being milked while it is still gigantic. Examples such as Myspace or SchülerVZ, whose imminent shutdown was announced today, show that things can happen quickly.

The latest example of eager monetization comes from the UK: Facebook is testing contacting prominent members of the network for a fee. The more fans, the more expensive the message. In return, the message does not end up in the "Other" folder like other messages from strangers, but in the correct inbox for friends. The regulation should apply to all users who are not part of your own friends list.

According to Focus.de This measure is intended to prevent celebrity mailboxes from being constantly overfilled and other spam from being sent around the world. The upper limit in America is 15 dollars - which is probably how much an email to Justin Bieber would cost. According to the NZZ, contacting Prince Harry's girlfriend costs as little as 71 pence. Whoever that is - a bargain! Interestingly, all the money goes into Facebook's pockets. This will certainly increase the motivation of celebrities to read any letters immeasurably, especially as virtually no star manages and maintains their Facebook profile themselves anyway. The idea of Justin Bieber reading and replying to your love letter for 15 dollars is likely to spur real Beliebers on even more.

The payment model and the associated reporting raises many questions. If paid messages no longer end up in a separate folder for strangers, coveted people can look forward to tons of fan mail in their inbox - mixed in with messages from friends. It is also not clear whether the regulation will also apply to (fan) pages. The only thing that is clear is that the days of paying for Facebook by handing over sensitive data and a little attention are numbered. (hae)

Youtube.ch launches in Switzerland

Swiss organizations, media outlets, and artists—such as Swiss Television, Joiz, and beatboxer Pepouni—share their content on YouTube. Local partners can now earn money through the video platform.

Swiss Internet users and video fans can expect a new Youtube experience: on the website launched today Youtube.ch videos from Switzerland - alongside millions of videos from all over the world and on virtually any topic - take center stage. Videos that are viewed most often in Switzerland and those that are gaining popularity there the fastest are displayed directly on the homepage. The new local site makes it easier and faster for Swiss users to discover videos from their home country and share them with people around the world.

Numerous local Youtube partners will in future be able to make their content available on Youtube and earn money with it, according to a statement. The content will be available on Youtube around the clock and on virtually any device, anywhere in the world. Matt Glotzbach, Youtube Managing Director EMEA, says of the partnerships: "Users will be able to access content from Swiss television with over 30 channels, content from Joiz or also from user-generated channels such as from beatboxer Pepouni and many more in the future on Youtube Switzerland. This allows content providers to reach a larger audience and lays the foundation for a strong presence on Youtube. In addition, video artists of all kinds can earn money with their videos on Youtube."

It's only been eight years since the launch of YouTube. Today, the world's largest online video community is active on the platform. Every month, around one billion people around the world visit the website to discover, share and comment on videos and provide their own content. Swiss people have also been active members of this community since the early days of YouTube, watching and uploading countless videos. With the launch of Youtube.ch the number of local versions of the global platform grows to 54.

Patrick Warnking, Country Director Google Switzerland, says: "The launch of Youtube in Switzerland offers local advertisers new solutions to promote their products and build their brand in a localized environment through innovative video advertising formats. And they can use the platform to interact and get in direct contact with their fans and their customers respectively."

New BAG campaign on organ donation

With a short film, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH wants to sensitize people in Switzerland to the topic of organ donation. "The Decision" is intended to show how important it is to decide for or against organ donation and to communicate this to your relatives.

In this way, you save them from an emotionally difficult situation and help save the lives of seriously ill people, the FOPH said in a statement. The film shows two middle-aged friends in a rather threatening situation. In a car above the abyss, one asks the other if he would donate his organs after a possible fall into the sea.

It turns out that although he has decided to donate, he has not recorded his will and has not communicated it to anyone. What sounds very serious is exaggerated in the film and handled in a funny way. The two unlucky people are not at a loss for punchlines, even in their predicament. Through this approach, the film aims to playfully open up access to questions that have a serious background and whose answers are often postponed for too long.

The short film can be seen from April 8 on the website The-decision.ch. Excerpts from it will also be broadcast as TV commercials. According to the press release, the awareness campaign is part of the overall "Health 2020" strategy. One of the goals of this comprehensive strategy is to improve the conditions for organ donation in hospitals and to gradually increase the number of organ donors in our country in order to be able to save the lives of even more seriously ill people.
