Comparis.ch with Adtech to new mobile marketing

In partnership with the ad-serving provider Adtech, Comparis.ch is now offering interactive mobile advertising. This means that interactive mobile advertising in HTML5 is now available in Comparis.ch’s apps: Real Estate Switzerland, Car Market Switzerland, and Smartshopper.

As a tool of the trade for the rich media mobile ads uses Comparis.ch the Mobile SDK from Adtech. Comparis.ch can use the Software Development Kit to adapt and optimize the advertising formats for its apps. Adtech's ad server handles the delivery of the ads to the apps on the smartphones and tablets. For an error-free display of the interactive mobile rich media ads, Adtech's SDK relies on the MRAID standard 2.0 of the industry association IAB.

"We want to offer our advertising customers the full potential of mobile devices and mobile apps," says Oliver Meadowcroft, Head of Online Sales at Comparis.ch. "Innovative mobile advertising is crucial to success from our point of view." Dominik Habermacher, Sales Manager Switzerland & Austria at Adtech, also agrees: "Advertising on the mobile web and in mobile apps is becoming increasingly important."

Last but not least: NZZ at a loss

The NZZ hopes to find the right idea online—is the NZZ at a loss? Or just out of ideas?

According to its own presentation, the newspaper is not just looking for ideas, but also offers readers the opportunity to take part in a competition by searching for ideas.

We are not just looking for ideas for the archive, proposals can also include something new or combine online and offline implementations - anything "that draws on NZZ strengths". (uma)

SW calls for an amicable solution

The Swiss Advertising Association (SW) is deeply concerned about the dispute over TV viewership data. It argues that this dispute is compromising the entire industry. The umbrella organization is therefore calling on all parties to the conflict to reach an amicable solution.

We appeal to all parties involved in the conflict over the validity of Mediapulse data to seek an amicable solution with the utmost urgency in the interests of the entire media and communications industry. It is unacceptable that particular interests, even if they are partially justified, torpedo such an important process regardless of the consequences for the industry as a whole. The industry cannot afford the resulting loss of credibility and trust among the public, politicians and authorities, especially today. Only with joint efforts will it be possible to master the challenges of the current change in media and usage.

The umbrella organization is aware that problems have arisen during the introduction of the new measurement system, which have understandably led to uncertainty and, in some cases, dissatisfaction. At the same time, SW is asking those directly affected to maintain a sense of proportion with regard to the overall situation. It also supports all efforts, in particular an independent arbitration body, which would help to resolve such conflicts within a reasonable period of time in future.

Ringier/Tamedia: Swap of Le Temps and Le Matin?

Apparently, the two media houses Ringier and Tamedia are planning to swap their newspapers Le Temps and Le Matin as well as the Internet portal Lematin.ch This is what Die Nordwestschweiz writes.

Le Matin Dimanche is not the subject of the negotiations between Ringier CEO Marc Walder and Tamedia CEO Christoph Tonini. The Sunday paper is to remain in Tamedia hands regardless of the outcome of the talks. However, the groups would not confirm the joint plans. When asked, Ringer wrote: "We are constantly examining new, interesting business opportunities - but do not comment on industry rumors." Tamedia spokesman Christoph Zimmer's statement was along the same lines: "We are constantly discussing a variety of ideas with a wide range of partners. However, we do not comment on rumors."

According to Nordwestschweiz, financial considerations are also said to be behind the newspaper swap. Ringier expects synergies in the advertising business if Blick and Le Matin are marketed together. The titles could also cooperate editorially, especially in sports reporting.

Both newspapers are struggling with a decline in advertising and circulation. Le Matin, for example, still had a circulation of 55'000 copies in 2012 - almost a third less than seven years earlier. Le Temps printed 41'000 copies a day last year - twelve percent less than in 2005. In March, there were already fears that Le Matin would close (Werbewoche.ch reported). Imprint demands journalists' say

Should Ringier and Tamedia re-divide the press market in French-speaking Switzerland, Imprint is demanding that journalists have a say, the association wrote in a statement on Sunday. It is following developments closely and demands that the editorial offices of the titles be consulted, as stipulated by the co-determination rights in the CCT collective labor agreement. Full transparency is expected from the publishers. This is now a particular priority when decisions are made in Zurich that affect the press in French-speaking Switzerland.

Ratings debacle: SRG considers legal action against 3+

This week, the Swiss ratings were public for a few hours. Hardly happened, 3+ had a publication banned again. Now SRG is considering a lawsuit against 3+, as Schweiz am Sonntag writes.

The head of the 3+ channel, Dominik Kaiser, still insists that the figures of the new method are wrong (Werbewoche.ch reported). Some other TV makers are now apparently losing patience with the private broadcaster. According to information from Schweiz am Sonntag, SRG is seriously considering a lawsuit against 3+. SRG has not filed a lawsuit at the moment, explained SRG media spokesman Daniel Steiner in response to a question from Schweiz am Sonntag. They want to wait for further developments first. But "after the conclusion, we will examine all options," he adds.

Mediapulse, on the other hand, has already responded: According to the Handelszeitung, the market research company is claiming monthly damages of CHF 800,000. A corresponding amount is therefore being demanded from 3+ as security. However, this does not worry 3+ CEO Dominik Kaiser any further. He suspects pure tactics behind the demand, as he told Schweiz am Sonntag. The question is rather how high 3+'s claims for damages are.

However, the damage will not become any smaller as a result. The ban has a negative impact on advertising revenues. This was also confirmed by Publisuisse spokeswoman Romi Hofer to Schweiz am Sonntag. And the damage will become greater the longer the ban is upheld.

Frame Eleven illustrates for Generali Versicherungen

Frame Eleven has created humorous illustrations for Generali's insurance products. The billboards are displayed before, during, and after ATP tennis tournaments featuring Swiss players.

These can be seen from June 24, 2013 during the broadcast of the Wimbledon tournament on SRF, RTS and RSI. In three different subjects, the products life, household and legal protection insurance are illustrated in short, animated sketches. The characters, developed especially for Generali, are intended to lighten up the insurance subject matter and make viewers smile.

The 10-second clips perform a teaser function and should still be fun to watch even after multiple viewings, the agency says in a statement. The billboards were produced in all three national languages. They replace the previous Generali billboards in time for the Wimbledon tournament.

Ogilvy One: New TV spots for Ricardolino.ch

There are new commercials for the free classifieds platform Ricardolino.ch. A total of four short stories about advertising and selling a product were filmed. The first two commercials have been on the air since June 17.

Ogilvy One came up with the ideas for the commercials together with Dani Levy, who, like the commercials for the launch at the beginning of 2013, also implemented them again. The individual spots are intended to reflect the fact that Ricardolino.ch appeals to a broad target group: young and old, living in the city or in the countryside. The short commercials "Bauernschrank", "Maturageschenk", "Damenschuhe" and "Uhr" always contain a dose of tragedy, the agency said in a press release on Friday.

Responsible at Ricardolino.ch: Oliver Schibli (Managing Director), Michel Noverraz (Brand & Communication Manager), Claudia Pittner (Communication ricardolino.ch), Slaven Stefancic (Product Manager). Responsible at Ogilvy OneBenjamin Franken (CD), Sandra Pellny (project management), Björn Schneider (overall responsibility).
