Last but not least: Look up women

Ogilvy & Mather Dubai highlights the kinds of suggestions Google's autocomplete feature makes when it comes to women in a thought-provoking campaign for UN Women.

During the search process, Google makes suggestions for completing the query. The suggestions made during the automatic completion The search queries displayed come from the search activities of all web users and from the content of the websites indexed by Google. This function is practical in everyday life: almost everything we google has already been searched for in a similar way by tens of thousands of other users. This allows for quick but precise and proven search terms and immediately gives you the certainty that you are on the right track in the solution-finding process.

wewo-google

As ingenious as the algorithm is in most applications, it can be unpleasant in individual cases. This is because it relentlessly reveals - taking into account some of Google's requirements - what is often searched for and in what context. Take Bettina Wulff, for example: Dubious rumors about a possible red light past were persistently immortalized in the search terms suggested by Google as soon as her name was entered. The wife of the former German president subsequently became embroiled in a tough legal battle. Google removed some terms from the Wulff search suggestions - purely voluntarily and without legal pressure, of course. In May 2013, the Federal Court of Justice ruled in a similar case  However, it states unequivocally: "If a data subject informs the operator [of a search engine] of an unlawful infringement of their personal rights, the operator is obliged to prevent such infringements in the future."

Ogilvy & Mather Dubai is taking advantage of the fact that the autocomplete function shows how the masses really think and search. For the women's rights organization UN Women the agency googled expressions such as "women should", "women shouldn't" or "women need to" and saw what suggestions the search engine came up with to complete the search. Of course, the answers depend on the location of the Googler and cannot be reproduced in this country. (hae)

TBWA: Anti-sexting campaign for Pro Juventute

Teens are sharing intimate photos of themselves without realizing the uncontrollable consequences. It’s time for a sexting campaign from Pro Juventute. The campaign was created by TBWA/Zurich.

According to a recent survey, eight out of ten adults in Switzerland do not even know what sexting is. Consequently, most families do not talk about this new development and the possible risks, according to a statement. Pro Juventute is currently launching the first national education campaign on the topic. This educates young people about the risks of sexting, while those affected can call the emergency number 147 for competent advice.

Together with Pro Juventute, TBWA\Zurich has realized the first national communication campaign. A TV spot, two poster sujets, school posters, a Facebook application and other accompanying measures show the consequences for those affected. The agency's insight, in collaboration with Pro Juventute's experts, was that adolescents vie for attention with their intimate photos and the distribution via smartphone - without being aware that they cannot control the distribution. The campaign therefore focuses on two young people who are both typical victims of the dissemination of their photos via the Internet, WhatsApp or MMS. The authentic staging of the subjects is provided by photos taken by the young people themselves.

Since sexting is a digital phenomenon, TBWA\Zurich and Pro Juventute have developed the first Cyber Risk Check for all users. This allows users to check their Facebook profile for the dangers of sexting, cyberbullying and other harassment. Specially developed software analyzes the behavior, content and links of Facebook users. Depending on the results, users receive practical tips on how to make their Facebook profile safer.

Responsible at Pro Juventute: Marianne Affolter (Head of Communications), Irene Heimgartner (Head of Public Affairs). Responsible at TBWA\Zurich: Frederick Rossmann, Tizian Walti, Danielle Bürli, Laura Haas (Creation), Matthias Kiess, Marion Schlatter (Consulting), Simon Rehsche (Strategy), Christina Bürgin (Art Buying), Marcel Vogt, Marek Zdarsky (TBWA Digital Arts Network), Dominik Brumm (Cubera Solutions), Chris Niemeyer (Plan-B Film).

Comet: Campaign for Tele Bärn

To showcase the ever-expanding variety of programming, the diverse shows, and the people behind them, Komet developed a new communications strategy for Tele Bärn.

For the new campaign, a separate theme was created for each show. The focus, according to the release, is on the presenters, who act as the figureheads of the regional station. The portraits of the presenters are combined with a "word cloud" that contains keywords related to the content of the corresponding shows and can be effortlessly updated and animated. This versatility and flexibility of the subjects gives TeleBärn a lot of leeway, especially for current programs.

The new claim "Tele Bärn - Immer im Bild" reinforces the brand's news relevance and emphasizes Tele Bärn's mission to report in an authentic way on current and interesting topics from the region. The new communications presence will be seen immediately in advertisements and online. In addition, the subjects and word clouds will be continuously adapted for various media.

Responsible at TeleBärn / AZ Medien: Marc Friedli (Program Manager TeleBärn), Laura Berndt (Head of Marketing TV Station Family AZ Medien). Responsible at Komet: Thom Pfister (CD), Roland Zenger, Joël Weber (AD), Antonia Bekiaris (text), Simon Schatzmann (head of consulting), Sarina Künzli (consulting). Photography: Fabian Unternährer.

Pinkup remixes ingredients for seasonal cuisine

The concept for print and banner ads developed by the Pinkup agency was exactly what the editors of *Saisonküche* magazine were looking for. Innovative recipes are intended to attract future subscribers.

The idea from the Pinkup creative kitchen is as simple as it is sophisticated: Well-known ingredients are combined in new and surprising ways. The resulting creations are accordingly given new names. For example, the well-behaved beetroot and the exotic wasabi merge to create the specialty "Randasabi". A short description and an appetizing picture of the dish show how excitingly these opposites harmonize.

The combined image and direct response campaign can be seen until the end of 2014 with different subjects, the agency wrote in a press release on Friday.

Responsible for seasonal cuisine: Carina Schmidt (Head of Reader Marketing and Subscription Service), Nadine Voss (Marketing Manager Reader Marketing). Responsible at Pinkup: Nicole Chervet (CD), Vitali Tcherednitchenko (AD), Martina Käppeli (consulting), Celina Harisberger (assistance).

Last but not least: Fans and enemies

An American talk show addresses the phenomenon of cyberbullying in a funny way.

The ability to get in direct contact with your fans via social media does not only offer advantages. Even stars like Selena Gomez are not immune to online bullying. A stranger wrote to her on Twitter: "I hate when people ask me why I hate @selenagomez. Like I just do." Stars can, of course, take something like this in their stride. Jimmy Kimmel has music stars read out nasty tweets about themselves on his talk show. For once, the anonymous hostility seems pretty harmless. (sis)

Ringier plans Buzzfeed copy

Ringier plans to launch a new online portal under the umbrella brand "Blick," which is intended to be modeled after the free commuter newspaper *Blick am Abend*. Ringier spokesperson Edi Estermann confirmed the plan to *Handelsblatt*, but did not disclose any official details.

In parallel, the former editor-in-chief of 20minuten.ch, Hansi Voigt, is planning to launch his new online portal Watson. Voigt had left the Tamedia publishing house in a dispute because he did not agree with the merging of the print editorial staff of the free newspaper and the online editorial staff. According to the NZZ, many former web editors of 20minuten.ch have since followed him. Voigt wants to compete with his old employer with the new portal from the first quarter of 2014. Apparently Ringier now wants to beat him to the punch with the new Blick am Abend portal.

According to the Handesblatt, Swiss media circles say Ringier wants to model its new project on the successful US portal Buzzfeed. The U.S. site is very successful in the U.S. with a mixture of entertainment and journalism and now employs around 225 people. Instead of classic articles, Buzzfeed relies heavily on animated graphics and networking; readers can register and have their own page set up on Buzzfeed to post articles there.

The background to the new online project is apparently also SBB's intention to equip its trains and stations with free Internet access via wifi in the near future. In this way, commuters will be able to click into the new Blick am Abend portal in addition to the print edition. It is also reported that publisher Michael Ringier and publishing boss Marc Walder are personally behind the project.
