Tages-Anzeiger: Redesign for Print and Online

For the launch of the new digital subscriptions at the end of March, all Tages-Anzeiger platforms, from the newspaper to the apps to the news portal Tagesanzeiger.ch, will appear in a new layout. From now on, the Tages-Anzeiger comes from a single source in terms of content and design.

The new design is deliberately restrained, according to a statement on Tuesday. It is not intended to be distracting, where readers want to concentrate on the text. The aim is to offer an optimal reading experience on every platform, be it smartphone, tablet, desktop or paper.

The same fonts are now used on the digital channels as in the newspaper. The number of images on the desktop front page has been reduced, but they are used larger. This improves the reading flow and dramaturgy of the page and at the same time helps to keep the quality of the images high.

The newspaper also appears today in a slightly adapted layout. In addition, starting with today's issue, QR codes will show what added value can be found digitally on a topic. The "Tages-Anzeiger" will thus be even more clearly recognizable as a brand on various channels. On page two, the most popular articles from the blogs will in future be published in excerpts alongside the daily commentary. The reader forum page will now show the reactions and moods on all channels.

At Digitalabo.tagesanzeiger.ch will inform the editorial team about the innovations at the Tages-Anzeiger starting this afternoon. The long form will be continuously updated over the next few weeks.

New claim: "You are what you read"

A new brand identity was introduced at the same time as the new layout. The publisher developed this together with Wirz. After around 20 years of "We're staying tuned" and "Keeping up", the new slogan is: Tages-Anzeiger "You are what you read". Gordon Nemitz, Executive Strategy Director at Wirz, summarizes what's behind it: "With the new claim, we're aiming for a change of perspective. Instead of being reduced solely to educational journalism, we want to focus on the broad journalistic quality of the Tages-Anzeiger and its individual significance for readers."

Together with the claim, the brand design was also adapted. All advertising materials will appear in a refreshed design in the next few days. In terms of design, they will be closer to the new layout of the newspaper and the digital channels.

Discover Europe - with SBB

A new campaign by Contexta invites you to discover Europe's cities with SBB.

SBB's poster and online campaign is designed to show the Swiss at a glance how quickly and comfortably and, above all, cheaply they can get to Munich, Salzburg or Milan by train - compared with a plane or car, they land right in the center of town and can make good use of their travel time, according to a statement on Tuesday.

However, it's not just the four posters that will initially whet people's appetites for discovering new things by train, but also brochures, a direct mailing, and a newly designed landing page including an online quiz. Tax forms: Design by Rosenstar

Even tax returns need to be designed—a tricky task. And a new kind of challenge for the Lucerne-based agency Rosenstar, which designed the forms on behalf of the Tax Office of the Canton of Lucerne.

The Tax Office is the link between the federal government and the 68 tax offices in the canton of Lucerne. In 2013, Rosenstar refreshed the agency's communications presence and conceived and designed various publications.

The tax forms and fact sheets were also redesigned. "The design freedom was severely restricted by the tight technical grid and its functionality. The canton's corporate design also had to be taken into account. Nevertheless, we managed to find a distinctive visual language," Jana Yaacoub, co-owner of Rosenstar, is quoted as saying in a statement.

Thanks to the color concept with intensive hues, it should be possible to see right away which forms and information sheets belong together. Icons and typo elements in the header area are distinguishing features to tax documents of other cantons.

Last but not least: That's where the ice cream goes

With a nasty picture, the French government wants to spoil the children's ice cream treat.

Even before the first hot summer days have arrived, the French Ministry of Health is already warning against ice cream consumption. A current campaign in France aims to draw attention to the fact that obesity starts at a young age. To this end, it presents ice cream from its least attractive side.

David Lesage's expressive subject has not only been liked, but also criticized. It is too extreme, dramatizes a mostly harmless childish pleasure and trivializes the complex causes of obesity. (sis)

Brandpulse: Branding for the Novis Vita Juicer

Novissa has developed a multifunctional juicer, which will be available in stores worldwide from May. Brandpulse was commissioned with the brand development for the new appliance.

Brandpulse developed the brand strategy and positioning for the new kitchen appliance brand, created the brand design and a creative concept, and implemented both. So that distributors could get to know the new household appliance in the premium segment, Brandpulse designed a sales presentation and subsequently an end-user brochure. For the demonstration at the POS, Brandpulse produced an animated film.

In addition, Designculture, which is part of the Brandpulse Group, developed an exhibition stand, POS displays and a representative case, which was set up for the first time at the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt. The development of the website with its own "juice app" (tips and recipes for buyers of the device, who can join a user club in this way) round off the measures.
