"Carlos": Proceedings against Sonntagsblick source

The "Carlos" case continues to occupy the Zurich judiciary: the public prosecutor's office has initiated proceedings against unknown persons for breach of official secrecy. They want to find out who leaked the pictures of devastated cells and corridors to Sonntagsblick.

On February 16, the Sunday View The Ringier Group has now released a large number of photos taken at the Uitikon Intervention Center (MZU). It is still unclear how the photos from the MZU ended up in an editorial office of the Ringier publishing house. However, because the pictures were taken without the knowledge of the MZU and should not have been released, the public prosecutor's office is now investigating for breach of official secrecy. A spokeswoman confirmed a corresponding report of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung on Wednesday. The proceedings were opened on Tuesday and the investigations are already underway.

Since the end of February in a new special setting

The offender known by the pseudonym "Carlos" has been in a new special setting since the end of February. It is significantly more favorable than the first, much criticized measure. After an initial phase abroad, "Carlos" is placed in a simple apartment with close social pedagogical support. The daily structure will consist of school, work and internships. Carlos" will only be able to attend sports training sessions in his free time. The new special setting was triggered by a ruling of the Federal Court, which harshly criticized the Zurich judiciary and ordered the release from the closed correctional system. The Zurich government would actually have liked to place "Carlos" in an institutional measure. However, "Carlos" was not prepared to do so. He insisted on a new special setting. (SDA)

BSSM: BLKB Annual Report implemented

The Baselland Cantonal Bank has published its 2013 Annual and Financial Report. BSSM was responsible for the concept and implementation. A survey on the future of the population and the freedom to choose the format of the publication are the highlights.

"Shaping the future" is the title of the BLKB annual report. This motto inspired the BSSM advertising agency in terms of content and technology. An online survey shows how the people of Basel imagine their lives in 2030. Women and men gave information about their wishes for the future in a street survey. The results of both surveys are integrated in the new annual report.

The technical concept enabled digital and classic publication from one data source. Together with the Internet agency 4eyes and the media service provider Neidhardt & Schön, BSSM developed an Internet portal and a print-on-demand platform. For the first time, the latter offers BLKB certificate holders the opportunity to compile an individual copy of the annual report.

Last but not least: Advertising in space

The UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Entlebuch is advertising in space. The tourist destination has broadcast promotional messages to extraterrestrials via a radio observatory. So far, the only response has come from Earth.

The message to all living beings in the cosmos to spend their vacations in the biosphere reserve in Entlebuch was recorded on tape. On Monday, amateur astronomers from the radio observatory in Bad Münstereifel sent the invitation into the universe. The visit from afar is worthwhile, because the Entlebuch is beautiful. "In 50 years. In 500 years. In 500,000 years."

For earthlings, the message is also available on the Biosphere website and on YouTube.

A reply from extraterrestrials has not yet arrived. Perhaps this is because the message was only sent into space in German. The advertising impact has therefore so far been limited to German-speaking countries. There, however, the idea has triggered a great media response. (sis)

Last but not least: This is a Generic Brand Video

The video agency Dissolve perfectly parodies brand and advertising videos—and in doing so, promotes itself.

«This is a Generic Brand Video» is actually a text written by Kendra Eash, published on the Page from the American publishing house McSweeney's. The author offers a dry parody of how brands present themselves in advertising and promotional videos, using catchy imagery to visualize their corporate philosophy. «Our policies could be related to these panoramic views of Costa Rica.»

A script just waiting to be spoken and set to footage. And there you have it: the perfect PR film. That’s exactly what the film agency Dissolve thought—which, much like photo agencies, sells film clips based on any number of keywords for further use. And lo and behold: Dissolve’s video archive is so vast that for every sentence—spoken by a voice-over artist we’ve heard a hundred times before—we were able to find the perfect moving image. «Everything you hate about advertising in one fake video that’s almost too real»—better than Adweek.com Otherwise, it would not have been possible to summarize the result. According to a press release, Gryps is planning a communication campaign to coincide with its expansion into the retail market. The website was built from the ground up. The communication campaign focuses on increasing brand awareness throughout German-speaking Switzerland, with a marketing emphasis on the online channel. «We want to actively support the trend toward more and more purchases made online,» says Priska Schoch. Gaby Stäheli adds: «By reducing complexity, Gryps simplifies the tedious research process to just a few clicks.» To continue on its current growth trajectory, Gryps has expanded its board of directors and secured growth capital from Swiss private investors.

Added Value for Sellers and Functionality for Buyers

Vendors can view and manage their data online and receive pre-qualified leads. If interested, contact information can be purchased for a small fee. This way, Gryps.ch An additional advertising platform for vendors to expand their customer base. Prospective buyers receive over a thousand pages of shopping information, easy-to-understand overviews, price tables, and valuable shopping tips. Prospective buyers receive timely and expert guidance to help them make an informed purchasing decision.

Expansion to Include Individual Customers

When it comes to making major purchases, consumers can now find all the important information online. However, navigating the options is often difficult and can sometimes take hours. Based on feedback from its daily interactions with buyers, Gryps has continuously expanded its range of over 60 products and services—and thus the number of providers, currently at 1,600—to include items such as awnings in the spring, air conditioners in the summer, and garage doors in the winter for private customers. Businesses can find the right providers for their IT infrastructure or human resources management, for example. Gryps has no financial stake in the transactions and thus remains independent.

This is only possible thanks to the close cooperation with Bildwurf Kinowerbung. The spots and slides can be seen in Zurich studio cinemas.

Kernbrand builds appearance for Stünzi Architekten

Kernbrand has developed a corporate design for the new office of Stünzi Architekten: From the logo and printed matter to the one-page website in responsive design, the overall appearance plays with human visual habits.

The idea for the visual approach was derived from one of the architect's main activities: Sketching designs on paper. Kernbrand developed an appearance that is characterized by an inky blue and is reminiscent of writing with a pen.

Word mark as optical illusion

The client's wish was to illustrate the "golden ratio" in the visual design. The new word mark therefore plays with a typographic division ratio. The lettering "Stünzi Architekten" is designed with offset letters and conveys an impression of spatiality.

Natural paper is used for the printed matter. The choice of paper is intended to create a closeness to nature and is based on the idea that architecture is always part of nature and blends into it.

The architects also rely on the new online presence. A one-pager in a responsively programmed flat design with integrated sliders provides information about services, expertise and numerous reference projects.

UBI only received complaints about SRG broadcasts

In 2013, the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI) received a total of 18 new complaints. All of them concerned SRG broadcasts. The most common subject was segments on the program «Rundschau.».

The UBI received two fewer complaints than in the previous year, as it announced on Tuesday. The new complaints concerned broadcasts by SRF television (ten cases), SRF radio (four cases) and broadcasts by RTS radio and television in French-speaking Switzerland (four cases).

Complaints about reports on Mörgeli

Seventeen complaints concerned information programs, one concerned an advertising spot. Critical contributions about the Zurich SVP National Councillor Christoph Mörgeli in connection with his role as doctoral supervisor were reprimanded several times.

SRF television had reported critically on the way in which doctoral theses were supervised and accepted at the University of Zurich's Institute of Medical History. The reports concerned the time when Mörgeli was a titular professor and curator at the institute and museum. The UBI rejected three of Mörgeli's complaints in December. Mörgeli then appealed to the Federal Supreme Court.

The UBI also received several complaints about allegedly one-sided reporting on the Middle East conflict to the detriment of Israel, as the UBI wrote.

The UBI found violations of the law in two completed proceedings (previous year: four). One case concerned the discussion program "Arena" on SRF television: in a debate on the popular initiative for an unconditional basic income, the UBI found that the principle of fairness had been violated.

Most cases settled by ombudsman offices

The Federal Supreme Court subsequently upheld an appeal by the SRG and overturned the UBI's decision. The second case concerned a report by private television station Tele Bärn about a company that was allegedly in financial difficulties. However, according to the UBI, the thesis of bankruptcy was based on insufficient evidence.

There are far more complaints about radio and television broadcasts than complaints: The ombudsman's office upstream of the UBI received a total of 237 complaints in 2013 - 34 more than in the previous year. 92% of these were finally settled by the ombudsman's office.

ZB Werbung: Action for the Mobilcity in Bern

Commuters in the canton of Bern wondered last week: What's behind the message on the hanging boxes? Who's going to lay me? The man behind the campaign is Chrigu Stucki, a wrestler who is promoting Mobilcity in Bern.

On the current posters, the wrestler challenges future trainees to compete against him in a show fight at Mobilcity in Bern on 12.04.2014. To mark the official opening, the competence center for the automotive and transport industry is hosting an open day. With this campaign, the commercial vehicle association Astag wants to motivate as many young people as possible to take a closer look at the apprenticeships on offer at Mobilcity.

Stucki Chrigu has been the ambassador for all apprentices in the transport industry for years. The aim of the public transport advertising campaign was to target young people.

The campaign was implemented by ZB Werbung and APG|SGA. In addition to an SMS competition, other instant prizes can be won on the website Flachleger.ch or in the corresponding Facebook competition.
