CR Basel: Advertisement for innovative business idea

The CR Basel agency is supporting two young entrepreneurs with a key visual and an ad. The startup Revendo.ch breathes new life into used Apple devices. Customers have the option to donate the proceeds.

And the latest thing is always tempting, even if the old thing is not old at all and would continue to provide the best services: This is also and especially true for Apple devices, which led two young entrepreneurs from Basel to an innovative business idea and the foundation of Revendo.ch inspired. For about a year now, the start-up has been buying used Apple iPhones, iPads, iMacs or iBooks, checking and cleaning them, and refreshing the devices with the latest software before offering them again at attractive prices. All this is handled via a user-friendly platform. In the process, the seller can also choose to convert the proceeds into a donation and do good.

This idea, which also significantly benefits the environment through the extended life cycle of the devices, also convinced CR Basel. After reading a newspaper article about Revendo.ch, the agency contacted the founders. A collaboration came about that is now bearing its first fruits: in the form of a key visual and an ad that draws attention to the core idea with the double-bitten apple and whets the appetite of sellers and second-time buyers of Apple devices.

Last but not least: Ariel's brown underwear

A calculated backlash or out-of-touch marketing? Detergent manufacturer Ariel put itself on the sidelines with the problematic number 88.

Anyone who carelessly uses the number 88 in Germany must expect a headwind. In the language of the neo-Nazis, the double eight has always stood for "Heil Hitler", i.e. two times the eighth letter of the alphabet (counted from the back: SS). You can print "88" on a T-shirt, but not "Heil Hitler". Most people actually know this. The marketing department at Procter & Gamble seems to be an exception. It recently launched "Ariel 88" promotional packs. It was foreseeable that it wouldn't be long before there was scorn, outrage and incomprehension - social media picked up on the topic in no time at all.

Image: Twitter.com

To celebrate the World Cup year, Ariel gave the packs, which normally last for 83 washes, five free portions. The P&G stars explain why, for example, seven extra cycles were not chosen. This would have resulted in the thankful number 90 - the year in which Germany won the World Cup for the last time.

Of course, in a case like this, the question arises as to whether a shitstorm can also be calculated. After all, the whole of Germany now knows that Ariel packs are particularly large at the moment. No media outlet did not report on the "advertising mishap". "Very strange, the whole thing" writes W&V on the occasion of Ariel's announced withdrawal. P&G tweeted namely on May 8, the "pack with unintentional ambiguity" has not been delivered since Monday. The fact that May 8 is the holiday marking the end of the Second World War fitted in with the story, just as Ariel had also prominently printed "New Concentration" on the packs in question. Presumably no calculation after all - rather clumsy creativity and unfortunate coincidences. Or as the South German Newspaper said: P&G's advertisers can only be understood by "those who work day and night in such a company and are not often allowed around people".

Unbenannt-3_22

By the way: football shirts with the number 88 actually exist. National team captain Gökhan Inler wears them in Italy. But not because he sympathizes with right-wing ideas, but because his favourite and lucky number eight was already taken. And then he got so used to the number that he kept it even after moving from Udinese to Napoli.

Rod: New HIV campaign focuses on personal commitment

«Love Life—and Have No Regrets» is the slogan of the Federal Office of Public Health's new campaign against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. It was created by Rod Kommunikation.

The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), together with the Swiss AIDS Federation and Sexual Health Switzerland, is launching the new Love Life campaign against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI). "Love Life - and have no regrets" shows how attractive it is to consciously protect oneself against sexually transmitted infections. At the center is the Love Life Manifesto with its three statements "I love my life, I owe it to myself," "I love my body, that's why I protect it," and "I don't regret anything, I take care of it." Responsible behavior means following the tried and tested safer sex rules: "1. penetration only with a rubber, 2. no blood or sperm in the mouth and 3. if it itches, go to the doctor".

A campaign not only for, but above all with the population

"Love Life - and have no regrets" builds on personal commitment. Those who promise themselves to live the ideas and principles of the manifesto can follow it on the website Lovelife.ch agree anonymously. Those who wish can also make a public pledge for responsible sexual behavior: People who have agreed to the manifesto can share their pledge via social media. In addition, they can order a free pink "Love Life" ring and wear it visibly to show that they are part of the campaign. In addition, the campaign is looking for individuals and couples to sign up for a casting on Lovelife.ch. Their original idea of a responsible approach to sexuality is then to be implemented in an artistic way as a poster.

Repentance - a central theme in (sex) life

The motto "Love Life - and don't regret anything" addresses a key issue: regret. A new representative survey from Switzerland shows that more than a third of people regret something about their previous sex life. One person in five regrets not protecting themselves with a condom during sex. Those who commit to Love Life and live by the Manifesto will have one less important reason to regret something in the future.

APG: Digital outdoor advertising in Winterthur

Starting in October 2014, APG|SGA and Stadtbus Winterthur will jointly launch a network of eight digital advertising displays at prime locations. The goal is to set new standards for digital advertising opportunities in urban areas.

Stadtbus Winterthur is integrating digital City ePanels from APG|SGA into eight newly built, modern bus shelters. The new advertising media represent important additional sources of revenue for the transport company. The full-HD screens (72 inches) are distributed throughout the city in prime locations, forming a new network for advertising customers and enlivening the bus stops. In addition to individual and flexible booking options, including specific daytime switching, light animations and moving images are also possible. The 60-second loop offers four customers or institutions the opportunity to broadcast their communication content and advertising messages for 15 seconds.

Modern, urban street furniture

The careful, forward-looking integration of digital advertising media in the urban space, which is in harmony with a modern cityscape, was carried out as part of a comprehensive project with those responsible at Stadtbus Winterthur and the city authorities, according to the press release. The digital advertising spaces represent an ideal communication platform for regional businesses, city authorities and cultural institutions as well as national advertising clients in the heart of the city of Winterthur. At the same time, Winterthur city bus passengers benefit from new, modern bus shelters. As the City of Zurich's pilot operation at Bellevue in summer/autumn 2013 also showed, the City ePanels have met with great acceptance and approval from the population. APG|SGA is therefore convinced that the digital advertising spaces will also be implemented in other projects by cities and transport companies.

Daniel Hofer, CEO APG|SGA: "We are delighted to be intensifying our collaboration with Stadtbus Winterthur and are convinced that the new digital information and advertising media will be very well received by the public and advertising customers alike. At the same time, this project should also have a signal effect on other cities in the development of digital forms of outdoor advertising." Thomas Nideröst, Director of Stadtbus Winterthur, emphasizes the good partnership with APG|SGA and adds: "The new bus shelters with the integrated City ePanels will be a real asset for our customers, especially as we can also use the screens for our own content." For his part, the head of the Department of Technical Operations, City Councillor Matthias Gfeller, is delighted with the additional revenue generated by the new advertising media. These relieve the burden on the city's coffers by helping to cover the cleaning and maintenance costs of the bus shelters and stops on the bus network. "Accordingly, the current quality in terms of cleanliness and maintenance can also be ensured in the future despite the pressure to save money".

KSP and Bell: Men back at the grill again

The Bell campaign "Men, back to the grill" by KSP is already starting its third grilling season these days.

Because the phenomenon that men still forget who they are now and then seems to be still current. They still do things that don't quite want to fit in with the stronger sex. That's why Bell continues to exhort men with a twinkle in his eye to think back and find themselves again with fire, barbecue tongs and meat. Because that way, not only men will be happy, but also women, because they still love masculine men.

So once again there is an episode to watch in which a guy strays from the masculine path. This time he doesn't sing karaoke, dance Zumba or put on a girly song. Instead, he watches a romantic comedy in the cinema, surrounded only by women, and is moved to tears. But Bell Barbecue brings him back to the grill.

After only one episode: End for Hunziker show

A setback for Michelle Hunziker—ZDF is canceling her show «Die grosse Überraschungsshow» after just one episode. The Mainz-based broadcaster announced this on Saturday evening. They said they had decided «jointly» against airing a second episode.

According to the press release, Hunziker said: "We deliberately decided to start with one or two episodes to test out whether viewers want to watch such a show at the moment."
Zweite will continue its collaboration with the presenter and will develop joint concepts. "We definitely want to continue working with Michelle Hunziker and there are already ideas," explained Head of Entertainment Oliver Fuchs. "Michelle is a great entertainer with great authenticity and heart, and we would like to see her in more programs here on ZDF." Just 3.32 million viewers watched the premiere of Hunziker's Wednesday evening show at the end of March. The market share of the show, in which wishes were granted mainly to volunteers, was 10.4 percent. (SDA)
