Best of Swiss Apps 2014 launched

Following last year's inaugural event, Switzerland's best apps will be honored for the second time on November 19. Projects can be submitted in eleven categories starting now through September 15, 2014.

"Best of Swiss Apps" is entering its second round. For this year's competition, apps that have been newly created or revised in the last twelve months or will be in the next few weeks can now be submitted in the total of nine basic and two special categories.

At the award night on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, the winning projects will be honored and the outstanding "Master of Swiss Apps" will be selected at the Aura near Paradeplatz in Zurich. The projects submitted will go through a multi-stage judging process involving at least 6 jurors per category - a total of around 60 jury members - and, in the case of the master's choice, also the expert audience.

Many apps producers

Thanks to the success of app stores, the software industry is still in a gold-rush mood. In addition to the classic IT and web companies, dozens of new specialized companies are also producing hybrid and web apps. Because of the enormous global competition, app publishers often find it difficult to generate attention for a new app - no matter how good it is. The "Best of Swiss Apps Award" aims to give outstanding domestic apps the stage they deserve and ultimately need for success.

Last but not least: crushing gestures of love

The weight of love locks is putting a strain on Paris's bridges. The first sections of railing have already collapsed. Now the city is taking action to address this serious problem.

The fact that countless tourists attach their love locks to the bridge railings is slowly but surely becoming a problem for the city of love. The falling locks and bridge parts are a danger, especially for the tourists themselves, who are often on excursion boats on the Seine.

The city council therefore wants to offer couples in love a substitute with the "love without locks" campaign - on the internet, where they won't disturb anyone. Posters at tourist sites along the Seine invite lovers to post a selfie with the hashtag #lovewithoutlocks on Instagram or Twitter instead. Is this alternative attractive enough? (sis)

Publicitas becomes a Google Adwords partner

Publicitas is expanding its product portfolio and, as a Google AdWords Premium SME Partner, now offers local and regional advertisers the ability to run Google AdWords campaigns.

As a premium SME partner, Publicitas advises and supports the development, launch and management of AdWords campaigns. Ongoing campaign optimization and support allows advertisers to achieve the best possible performance from an AdWords campaign.

Christoph Marty, Director Sales Switzerland, Publicitas: "Many local and regional companies do not have the time and resources to manage their own online advertising campaigns. Our many years of experience in the SME sector allow us to provide this customer segment with professional advice on the use of Google AdWords campaigns and to make optimum use of the advertising budget.

Michael Jäschke, Head of Channel Sales DACH, Google: "This collaboration can help thousands of SMEs in Switzerland to use the Internet more as a sales and marketing channel for themselves. With Google Adwords, SMEs can get in touch with their target groups in a targeted and efficient way. The return on investment is the focus of AdWords. We expect that the growth of many Swiss SMEs will be sustainably strengthened in this way. We look forward to working with such an experienced partner, because it is the SMEs in Switzerland that will benefit."

Google Adwords enables advertisers to place an ad at the exact moment when potential customers are searching for their company's products or services. The ads appear next to the search results on Google as well as on other websites. The advertising budget is only spent when someone clicks on the ad.

Schaffhausen wants to keep windows on Tele Top

The Schaffhausen Cantonal Government opposes the federal government's plan to eliminate daily programming blocks for regional TV stations. It argues that the federal government's proposed measure would have a negative impact on regional news coverage.

With an amendment to the Radio and Television Ordinance, the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) wants to set the course for hybrid television. This will allow television broadcasters to display information from the internet on the television screen at the same time. SRG intends to offer this type of television as early as January 1, 2015. With the amendment to the ordinance, OFCOM also wants to remove the requirement for some radio and television stations to broadcast a daily program window for a specific area. Broadcasters will be free to decide whether to offer regional information as a window or integrated into the main program in future
want

In the Schaffhausen region, the licensed broadcaster Tele Top is obliged to broadcast a daily program window with regional contributions, writes the cantonal government in a statement on Tuesday. In return, Tele Top receives contributions from the license fee. This Tele Top program window is of great importance for the canton of Schaffhausen. The private broadcaster in Winterthur is the only national TV broadcaster that reports daily on the canton in its own channel. If the regional information services were to be integrated into the broadcaster's main program, as planned by Bakom, the government council believes that the peripheral cantons and regions would certainly no longer receive the same information services as with the program windows. "Doing without this would basically mean a reduction in journalistic capacity, which cannot be accepted," writes the government. (SDA)

Allink implements socks online store

Dillysocks designs, manufactures, and sells colorful socks for fashion-conscious people. Because the company’s existing e-commerce solution could no longer meet its growing needs, Allink built a new online store for Dillysocks.

To cater to the fashionable, urban and active target group, the Online store completely built as a Responsive Design website, as it says in a statement. This makes it pleasant to browse the range of socks on a smartphone or tablet and shop on the go. The goal was to engage customers in the shopping experience and integrate Instagram, a platform heavily used by Dillysocks. As a solution, Dillysocks and allink designed an Instagram feed in the online store for customers to use. Each pair of socks has its own hashtag. If a customer tags a photo with this hashtag, it appears on the homepage and on the corresponding product page in the online store. Thanks to this innovative feature, visitors are inspired as to how the fashionable socks can be combined with matching outfits. In this way, Dillysocks cleverly uses user-generated content to sell products online.

Karling: CMYK-art for poster printing by Christinger

Christinger Partner has been a high-performing service provider based in Schlieren since 1965. Karling created a series of posters featuring five designs for the printing company.

The Christinger print shop is best known for more complex projects in the fields of visual communication, outdoor advertising and transit advertising. What is less well known is that Christinger is generally very strong in poster printing - regardless of the format and print run. At Christinger, poster printing is not just a craft, but a passion. Christinger is demonstrating this love of posters itself with a new poster series under the motto CMYK-art. The first five subjects were created by the Karling agency and the Hey design studio from Barcelona. The posters will appear immediately on all standard formats throughout Switzerland.

Comet: New promotional campaign for Shoppyland

As part of the new promotional campaign for Shoppyland, the Komet agency has designed a direct mail campaign and various TV commercials for the shopping center.

Shoppyland Schönbühl is an institution. Now the largest shopping center in the Bern Mittelland region, it has been delighting visitors for almost forty years. Since its renovation in 2010, it has a fresh design, a modern ambience and an inviting shopping atmosphere. Komet designed and implemented a wide-ranging promotional campaign for Shoppyland that appeals to new target groups in an extended catchment area and introduces them to the attractive and family-friendly shopping center.

The campaign's main advertising media are direct mailings and TV commercials. The "Shoppyland News" mailing is sent to 360,000 households and is presented in tabloid style with generous image and text content. There is a symbolic "shopping cart" to be won in the competition: The main prize is a family car. The commercials present the Shoppyland offer in four thematic focuses. The focus is on the shopping variety of the center, the family attractions, the range of restaurants and cafés, and the sports and relaxation options. The thirty-second spots will run from August on the regional stations Tele Bärn, Tele M1 and Tele Bielingue.
