Last but not least: Versteckis for Beginners

When kids hide half-heartedly, it’s time to say “Jöh.” A perfect opportunity for the advertising industry.

Object and person permanence is the cognitive ability to know that something continues to exist even when it has disappeared from view. This is all well and good, but it is not innate. Young children first have to learn this ability. That's why they think they can no longer be seen when they close their eyes or hide their head. Adults like it: the worse the camouflage, the cuter the child. The little hide-and-seek artists have long since conquered the Internet. Sites like Boredpanda.com collect photos of untraceable children and enchant readers with them. So it was only a matter of time before the phenomenon appeared in advertising. In a campaign, Y&R Brazil shows that Danone's Danette pudding tastes so good that you don't want to share it. It's better to make yourself invisible and enjoy it in peace. Certainly not pedagogically beyond all doubt. But it's cute. (hae)

Notch: Mobile redesign of Search.ch completed

Notch Interactive has given the app and mobile website of the Swiss search and information service Search.ch a comprehensive redesign. The new design features a minimalist, intuitive style, thereby improving the platform's usability.

In addition, Notch Interactive has developed an innovative new function: "Live Search" shows the user all important information such as location, timetables or restaurants in the vicinity with one touch. And all this in real time. With over 2.3 million unique users per month, Search.ch is the most popular and most used Swiss website. In collaboration with Search.ch's business development and product management, Notch Interactive redesigned the mobile applications. The technical integration was carried out by Search.ch's developer team. The redesign of the desktop version will follow in fall 2014.

Internet usage on mobile devices has been growing disproportionately for several years. Mobile applications are therefore also a clear focus for Search.ch. With "mobile first" as the guiding principle, the app and the mobile website have been redesigned and appear in a new look as of today. Inspired by large platforms such as Facebook and Pinterest, Notch Interactive has developed a "card design". The new design comes up with a clear visual structure. The interactive services such as phone book, weather, map and timetable could thus be designed in a simple and intuitive way, which further improves usability.

Find without searching: The unique new "Live Search" function shows users all the relevant information relating to their location, depending on the time and place. Whether restaurants, bars, timetables or ATMs: "Live Search" delivers everything important with a touch. In this way, search.ch also brings SMEs closer to their potential customers. With the new app and with "Live Search", this strategic guiding principle is fulfilled in an intelligent and direct way.

Successful decade for Great Garbo

For the past ten years, Nora, Diego, and Lionel Baldenweg have been successfully producing music for international advertising campaigns and feature films under the name Great Garbo. To celebrate the anniversary, directors, actors, and producers gathered at the Orange Cinema in Zurich.

The Swiss sibling trio Nora, Diego and Lionel Baldenweg have been composing and producing music for international clients such as Canon, Nivea and Sony for ten years. Having grown up in Australia, the three talented Baldenwegs found their way back to Switzerland in their teenage years - and founded Great Garbo in 2004. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of their company, the Baldenwegs invited guests to the open-air cinema in Zurich on Thursday, July 24. Renowned guests from the music, advertising and film industries looked back on a successful musical decade at an exclusive party with summer temperatures. For the guests present there was a surprise showcase by Grand Cannon the new band project of Pfuri Baldenweg, Zach Prather and Kniri Knaus.

Currently, the music of the Baldenwegs can be heard in the worldwide Dove campaign, which within a few weeks has become the third most viewed online advertisement of all time with 100 million views. Other highlights of Great Garbo include work for Sony, Orange and Mastercard as well as an award-winning film music recording with star conductor David Zinman and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. The Baldenwegs have won several "best music" awards over the past 10 years.

Publigroupe: Swisscom holds 90.59 percent

Swisscom's acquisition of Publigroupe has moved another step forward. According to the final interim results, 71.53 percent of the shares covered by the public offer were tendered to Swisscom.

The deadline expired on August 5. Swisscom's stake in Publigroupe thus amounted to 90.59% at the end of the offer period, as the telecommunications company announced on Monday. This means that these figures have not changed since the publication of the provisional interim results on August 6. The offer has therefore been made subject to certain conditions that apply until completion, it added. The grace period of ten trading days for subsequent acceptance of the offer begins tomorrow, Tuesday, and lasts until August 25. According to the press release, completion is expected to take place on September 8.

The purchase of the shares and the takeover of PubliGroupe are in line with its Board of Directors, which approved the Swisscom offer in July. Publigroupe, which after the sale of the advertising placement business Publicitas still consists of a stake in the internet platform Local.ch and various small companies, mostly active in marketing, is worth around millions of francs.

Swisscom and Tamedia are primarily interested in the Local.ch directory service, which is currently owned equally by PubliGroupe and Swisscom. Following the purchase of Publigroupe, Swisscom intends to merge Local.ch with Tamedia's Search.ch directory service. Swisscom will play first fiddle in the new joint venture - it will hold 69 percent of the planned joint venture, while Tamedia will have to make do with 31 percent. Together, Local.ch and Search.ch are to become a Swiss alternative to Google. (SDA)

Tamedia takes over vintage platform Trendsales.dk

Tamedia is acquiring a majority stake in the Danish company Trendsales, which operates, among other things, Trendsales.dk, a successful platform for vintage fashion.

Tamedia intends to further develop the platform together with the existing management team and further strengthen the brand, among other things, by leveraging synergies with Metroxpress, according to a statement. With the acquisition, Tamedia is expanding its digital portfolio and position in Denmark.

Trendsales.dk is structured in four sections. Under Bazaar, private individuals can sell vintage and secondhand fashion, while in the Shop and Outlet sections online suppliers offer their products at regular and discounted prices. These sections are complemented by the Magazine section, with articles, forums and blogs on lifestyle and fashion. Trendsales.dk was founded in 2002 by Bo Eriksen and Martin Falslev Andersen and grew rapidly to become Denmark's largest marketplace for vintage fashion. In 2012, Trendsales expanded its vintage platform to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Germany. Today, the company employs around 50 people in Copenhagen.

On July 28, 2014, Tamedia acquired 88 percent of the shares in Trendsales. 70 percent of the shares were acquired by Ricardo Denmark, the remaining 18 percent by the founders, who still hold 12 percent of the shares via Mets ApS. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Trendsales is Tamedia's second investment in the Danish market, following the acquisition of the commuter newspaper Metroxpress.
