Film Music Award 2014 goes to Roman Lerch

Roman Lerch is the winner of the Fondation Suisa Film Music Prize, which comes with a prize of 15,000 francs. Lerch composed his very first complete feature film score for the film 'Shana - The Wolf’s Music,« directed by Nino Jacusso.

A truly promising start to the career of the 26-year-old composer from Solothurn. "Shana - The Wolf's Music" tells the story of a talented young violinist from Canada's First Nations indigenous people. The music is therefore not just an accompanying element in the Swiss-Canadian co-production, but an integral part of the plot. A central part of the film music therefore had to be composed before filming began. A difficult task that director Nino Jacusso set for the young composer Roman Lerch.

"The character of Shana is strongly shaped by the music," says Lerch. I wanted to compose very unique music for the protagonist without kitschily imitating the music of the First Nations of Canada." And he succeeded so brilliantly that the jury of six experts voted unanimously in favor of Roman Lerch as the winner of this year's Fondation Suisa Film Music Prize. The jury described his music as "very inspired, passionate and masterfully composed". Roman Lerch was presented with the award by jury president Marco Blaser on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the 67th International Film Festival in Locarno.

Roman Lerch was born in Solothurn in 1987. After several years of band experience, the pianist decided to pursue professional training, which he completed at the universities of the arts in Bern and Zurich, focusing on film and theater composition, among other things. His teachers included Peter Scherer and Niki Reiser, both former film music prize winners of the Fondation Suisa. The 2014 Film Music Prize for Roman Lerch is therefore also pleasing proof that Switzerland has a young, talented and well-trained generation of film music composers.

The film "Shana - The Wolf's Music" will be screened in Italian on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 9 p.m. on the Piazza Grande in Locarno, presented by the group Genitori Locarnese.

Last but not least: Desolate twittering

Have a tissue ready—you're going to need to be really strong now: To put it mildly, nobody gave a damn about the tweets you wrote.

Tweeting is fun. Especially when the tweets you write attract interest. Among the 270 million registered users, the competition for attention is correspondingly fierce. Whether it's breasts from the Federal Palace, trenchant observations or news at lightning speed: Whatever is moving is favorited, commented on or forwarded. The ideal case. However, the reality is often different for many Twitter users: Tweets that disappear into oblivion without attracting much attention. Carryovers with 140 characters. So sad, so bleak.

That's probably what the creative agency Party NY thought and developed the site Sadtweets.com. The service shows you which of your tweets generated particularly little attention - and accompanies the digital vale of tears with sad music. All the user has to do is authorize the app to search through their own tweets. However, this is only possible for the user's own account - so there's no need to build up the emotions of the equally unsuccessful competition. But rest assured: we are all the same in front of the crying bird - and the next earth-shattering tweet is sure to come. By the way: If you are the Advertising week on Twitter not yet follow: Now would be a good time to do so. And rest assured: we also tweet interesting things from time to time. (hae)

Street Parade breaks the million barrier

AZ Medien's family of TV stations breaks the sound barrier of one million viewers per day and achieves high market shares during the live broadcast of the Street Parade 2014.

1,047,332 people tuned in to the programs of AZ Medien's TV station family on Saturday, August 02, 2014. The overall market share (age 3+ / German Switzerland / 24 hours) was 3.13 percent - the best figure for the AZ Medien TV station family since the introduction of the Kantar system, according to a statement. The basis for this new record value was formed by the broadcasts from the 2014 Street Parade, which were aired on Tele Züri, Tele M1 and Tele Bärn.

During the live broadcast from 3 to 7 p.m., the three regional TV stations achieved an average market share of 8.7 percent in the advertising-relevant target group of 15-49 year olds in German-speaking Switzerland. TeleZüri reached its peak at 4:17 p.m. with a market share of 63.7 percent (15-49 years / greater Zurich area WG 43). The live broadcast was watched on Tele Züri for an average of 52.83 minutes (dwell time per viewer / 15-49 years).

Markus Gilli, Editor-in-Chief of the TV station family of AZ Medien: "Breaking through the sound barrier of one million viewers is a new dimension and a very important step for the TV station family of AZ Medien. The drive of the Street Parade has electrified our TV values - not a trace of chill out ..."

Gemi June 2014: TV on the rise

In June, advertising volume in the TV sector rose slightly. All other electronic media remained stable or recorded slight declines. This is shown in the June edition of the Goldbach Index (Gemi) for advertising volume in the overall market and in electronic media.

TV was the only medium to gain one index point 648 (647) in the start month of the FIFA World Cup, and the trend is still rising. In contrast, advertising pressure on the Internet remained volatile and fell by two index points 736 (738) compared to the previous month. Teletext was in constant decline, losing one index point 54 (55). In Digital out of Home, advertising pressure declined for the first time in over twelve months, falling by six index points 752 (758). In contrast, the stabilization of advertising pressure for radio at 418 index points was encouraging. Electronic media as a whole also remained at the previous month's level with 648 index points and the overall market with 236 index points.

M-Stars online fanshop becomes "M-Fanshop

The M-Stars online store, which sells accessories from the Migros world, is getting a makeover and will be renamed «M-Fanshop» starting in August. It is owned by Premotion—a Lucerne-based marketing and events agency—and is operated in close collaboration with Migros.

When the M-Stars online store was launched in April 2010 as the successor to the M-Budget cult store, numerous new themes from the world of Migros found their way into the range alongside products in the M-Budget design. Among the most popular items were the iconic seal, bear and monkey motifs of the Migros gift bags. The shopping bags, for example, sold around 2'000 copies, according to the company. However, the most sought-after were the M-Budget and Ice Tea sunglasses, which were ordered over 8'600 times. The M-Stars range consisted of around 300 different items. Among them were also always unique items, so-called limited editions, such as the M-Budget Grümpelturnier set or the fancy yellow Mirador stool.

Now solves M-fanshop.ch M-Stars off. The online store appears in a new look that is even more in line with the world of Migros. The store continues to offer a wide range of products in the design of the popular Migros own brands. In addition, the M-Fanshop now also addresses the themes of current Migros campaigns with symbols and figures that are emotionally anchored with customers and employees. For example, Migros fans will also find the Lilibiggs or subjects from the campaign "From us. From here." campaign. For the procurement of fan articles, Migros' synergies with its suppliers will be used to guarantee responsible production. The M-Fanshop will continue to be operated by the Premotion agency. To date, the online store has attracted around 45'000 customers and generated total sales of around 3.5 million Swiss francs.

Y7K: Zurich's newest digital agency

Young entrepreneurs Yves Sinka, Ruben Feurer, Samuel Alder, and Joris Noordermeer are founding the digital agency Y7K. Y7K develops next-generation web apps and websites.

Design, technology and content can be combined for more than just short-lived advertising campaigns, the four company founders believe. Used correctly, they can create outstanding products that offer great benefits. Yves Sinka, Ruben Feurer, Samuel Alder and Joris Noordermeer - all in their twenties - grew up in the digital world. They are so-called "digital natives" and know the needs of the younger generation. "We are the first generation to have grown up naturally together with modern information technology: from the Nokia 3220 to the latest iPhone, from 56k modems to 4G. That's why we can say with a clear conscience that we understand the digital zeitgeist and the needs of users!", says Ruben Feurer. They have already gained experience in the digital industry. Now the four Zurichers develop their self-initiated solutions, apps and websites, but also for companies and their customers.

Less is more

"Most web apps and websites are too complex for the user. They contain too many features and unnecessary things. The user is quickly overwhelmed by them," says Yves Sinka. Y7K wants to develop digital products that are easy to use, look good and only have the functions that are really necessary.

y7k-1

The four young entrepreneurs bring experience to the newly founded agency: Ruben Feurer (Art Director) most recently helped build a design team at the renowned digital production company UNIT9 in London (over 50 FWA Awards) and managed projects for companies such as Google, Nike and Salvatore Ferragamo. Before that, the 23-year-old realized projects in Switzerland at Hinderling Volkart, including the 2012 Awwwards HTML5 Project of the Year "360° Langstrasse".

Yves Sinka (Business Development) studied photography at the University of the Arts London after completing his business degree. He then worked as an account manager on commercials for clients such as Adidas, L'Oréal and Tabasco, and as a producer on the relaunch of the Ministry of Sound website.

Samuel Alder (Interaction Design, Development) earned his bachelor's degree in Interaction Design at the Zurich University of the Arts. The 25-year-old gained practical experience as a developer and designer at Zurich-based digital agencies such as Hinderling Volkart.

Joris Noordermeer (Technology) worked in Tokyo at the media production agency Augment5, where he was involved in projects for Google. Prior to that, he had worked as a freelancer on numerous digital projects in Switzerland. Noordermeer is a self-taught developer who has acquired his backend development skills over the years.

Globally networked

With overseas residencies in London, Tokyo and South Korea, and previous projects by the four partners such as cultural magazine Quottom, pop-up gallery Sinka & Weiss and digital museum Neverland Space, Y7K benefits from an international network of designers, developers, digital artists and business angels and entrepreneurs. "For each problem, we bring in the best people. Whether they are in Sao Paolo or Poland doesn't matter to us," says Samuel Alder.

Last but not least: Nude dancers advertise dating show

On the U.S. dating show «Dating Naked,» young people go out on dates naked. It stands to reason that a show like this would be advertised with plenty of nudity.

In the two-minute dance spot, for which the agency Mistress is responsible, the dancing couples wear nothing but shoes. It was shot in front of a busy shopping mall in Los Angeles. However, intimate body parts are pixelated in the spot. It owes its high circulation mainly to the good mood spread by the various dancers.
