Match implements cross-media campaign for Spick

Match Communications created a cross-media campaign for Spick to mark the start of the school year. The campaign’s message: «Smart students read Spick—now 10 percent cheaper.».

The subject always contains a compound word. One of them is "Schlau", the other a surname, such as Meier, Kämpf, Widmer or Zbinden. As the poster campaign is being placed in Lucerne for the first time, Lucerne residents were addressed personally, namely with their names - at least the 30 most common surnames from Lucerne with children of school age between eight and 14. This resulted in colorful, eye-catching poster subjects such as Schlaumeier-, Schlaukämpf-, Schlauwidmer or Schlauzbinden etc.

The poster campaign is accompanied by a Facebook app and Facebook ads. The posters have been up in Lucerne since August 11, and the ten percent back-to-school campaign will run until September 1, 2014.

Comet: Profiting in Shoppyland

The couponing promotion "Treats for all" ensures lively visitor frequency at Shoppyland during the vacation months with discounts. Komet designed the advertising materials for the promotion and appropriately transformed Shoppyland's figurative mark into a lollipop.

The visual greets visitors on flyers, indoor measures, online and even in the form of a real lollipop as a giveaway.

Last but not least: Slimmed-down advertising

In Belgrade, billboard columns are suffering from massive obesity. A fitness studio has taken advantage of this phenomenon.

Or more precisely: the McCann Beograd agency on behalf of the Fit Curves Gym. In Belgrade, it seems as if the cityscape is dominated by large billboards. They are thick because notices are not removed, but pasted over for years. As the most popular and most easily accessible spot seems to be in the middle of the pillar, the poor advertisers put on a lot of weight, especially in the stomach area.

This belly fat was then cut down with a chainsaw. And apart from the rather innovative idea, the considerable thickness of the stacked posters is particularly fascinating. It probably didn't take years, but rather decades, for this column to reach its "slaughter weight".

I wonder if the rest of the pillar was "trained away" after the campaign? At least in poster-making circles, the fitness studio would not have made many friends with this campaign... (hae)

Exhibition: Switzerland "in the fire of propaganda"

Switzerland was bombarded with massive propaganda during the First World War. From Thursday, the Museum of Communication and the Swiss National Library will be showing what this looked like with 200 documents in a joint exhibition in Bern.

"In the Fire of Propaganda" is the first co-production between the two institutions, as they announced on Tuesday. With a few exceptions, the 200 or so documents on display come from the collections of the two institutions. Almost all of them can be seen in the original. They include newspapers and magazines, posters and postcards, photographs and graphics, leaflets and dispatches, manuscripts, books and films. The exhibition begins at the Museum of Communication with an introduction to the topic and is continued and explored in greater depth at the Swiss National Library.

Inner turmoil exploited

Although Switzerland was spared the actual war between 1914 and 1918, it was nevertheless caught between the ideological fronts. While a large part of German-speaking Switzerland sympathized strongly with Germany and Austria-Hungary, the hearts of the French-speaking part of the country beat for France and its allies. This inner conflict was also perceived by the foreign war powers, the exhibition organizers write. The warring powers took advantage of this situation to wage a propaganda war on Swiss territory for the first time on this scale, for example by founding their own press agencies and magazines.
