150 years of Swiss winter tourism

Leo Burnett Switzerland's anniversary campaign looks back on 150 years of winter tourism.

According to tradition, the hotelier Johannes Badrutt received his first winter guests in St. Moritz in 1864. It is believed that these were also the first winter tourists in the world. Exactly 150 years later, Switzerland Tourism is celebrating the history of winter tourism with an anniversary campaign created by Leo Burnett Switzerland.

At the heart of the campaign is a TV commercial that shows the last 150 years of Swiss winter tourism. The two mountain climbers Sebi and Paul guide us through the different eras and embody Switzerland's pioneering spirit.

To make the journey through time look as authentic as possible, director Nico Beyer and his team used various cameras from the respective decades. And the spot was filmed in a landscape that also plays a historical role in winter tourism: Davos. It was there that the physician Alexander Spengler brought the first winter spa guests 150 years ago. Davos subsequently established itself as a climatic health resort.

The commercial will be broadcast as a 30-second and 59-second spot in twelve countries worldwide on TV, online or at events.

The logo: Original of the winter

To mark the anniversary, Leo Burnett Switzerland has also created its own logo, which is used on all measures. This includes several collaborations with partners such as Mammut. The alpine outfitter is dedicating its own collection to the anniversary, which features the logo.

New marketer for digital media solutions

Adringo, a new marketer and provider of digital media solutions, is entering the Swiss market. Its advertising solutions—including native advertising and performance marketing—are designed to bring innovation to the advertising market.

The rapidly changing usage behavior of digital media, in particular towards mobile use and the primacy of content, makes new forms of advertising and solutions indispensable, according to a press release issued by the marketer on Monday. Successful advertisers are no longer optimizing for pure click performance or the number of impressions of advertising media, but are instead focusing on precisely addressing the target group and working towards maximum conversion to the desired conclusion on the target page. Adringo meets these growing needs.

For the first time, the Native Advertising Pool offers advertisers the opportunity to place their advertising messages in the editorial environment of leading Swiss news platforms (including 20 Minuten, Cash and Südostschweiz). Thanks to the editorial integration, users are not disturbed in their reading flow and the advertising messages achieve a high performance.

With Adringo Test Drive, the marketer is providing the automotive industry with an exclusive tool. Advertisers now have the opportunity to generate test drives directly in the target group. The special feature here is that the client only pays for the test drives actually carried out.

Adringo is a Swiss company and began operations in summer 2014 after several months of development. The innovative advertising formats are now available to advertisers in Switzerland.

Miss Switzerland: Fluri does not want to drop out at all

Guido Fluri, owner of the Miss Switzerland brand, claims he was misquoted by the business magazine *Bilanz*. However, the show's ratings were not as good as reported.

Last week, for example, the Miss Switzerland organization reported that the ratings were 30 percent higher than in the previous year, writes Schweiz am Sonntag. At first glance, this sounds rosier than reality looks. With 240,000 viewers, it is still a long way from the "golden times" of years gone by. Even the last show broadcast by SRF in 2011 still reached 400,000 viewers - in 2001, over a million people still tuned in to the election.

The ratings development of the Miss Switzerland pageant since 2001

The Bernese PR professional responsible for the show, Claudio Righetti, told Schweiz am Sonntag that the event must be "sustainably improved" despite the 30 percent increase. For example, the candidates should have more say.

However, Guido Fluri, owner of the Miss Switzerland brand, denies the exit plans he expressed in an interview with the business magazine Bilanz last week (Werbewoche.ch reported). The title does not reflect the content of the interview and the exit is not an issue. (hae)

Imagine ideas connecting an entire city

The Basel-based agency Crome Communications is launching a comprehensive communications campaign for IWB to promote efficient energy use.

IWB has been supplying the Basel metropolitan area with 100 percent renewable energy for years. Now a new topic is taking center stage at IWB: the efficient and innovative use of energy. In cooperation with IWB, Crome Communications has developed a campaign that focuses on the intelligent, smart, networked and therefore efficient use of energy. With the sentence: "Imagine ...", forward-looking ideas are formulated and shortly afterwards it is made clear that these ideas are already a reality. The campaign argues with innovative stories and cases that are highly recommended for imitation. At the center of the innovation campaign designed and launched by Crome Communications and IWB is the energy efficiency portal Innovation-creates-efficiency.chwhich serves as a hub for all content. In a first step, posters, advertisements and a film were used to publicize the project.
