"Roger vs. Roger" returns

Roger Schawinski and Roger Köppel will be crossing verbal swords again starting in February. After a break of several weeks, Radio 1 is resuming the radio talk show «Roger vs. Roger.».

The comeback show is scheduled for February 2, Radio 1 announced Wednesday. The show will take place as "Roger against Roger on tour" in front of a live audience. Radio 1 boss Roger Schawinski and Weltwoche boss Roger Köppel will meet in the Papiersaal in Zurich, true to the motto "two points of view, two opinions, two worlds".

The successful show has been suspended in recent weeks because the two protagonists have been at loggerheads (Werbewoche.ch reported). The reason for the dispute was differences over a Weltwoche article about an earlier quote by Andreas Thiel, with which Schawinski confronted the satirist in that year's Eklat-Talk. Unlike Schawinski, Köppel did not find it racist. The Radio 1 boss then complained that he had not been able to present his arguments in Weltwoche, although in return he offered Köppel a stage for his views every week. The show was then suspended and will resume in February. Whether the debate demanded by Schawinski has taken place is left open in the press release. Schawinski left an inquiry of the advertising week on Monday unanswered. (hae/pd)

Last but not least: Vemod

Chinese owners or not, Volvo is showing—in the longest TV commercial in the country's history—that the brand is more Swedish than ever.

The "Volvo Car Corporation" was sold to Ford in 1999. Ford, in turn, sold Volvo's passenger car production to the Chinese automaker Geely in 2010. Not an easy development for a brand that, like Ikea, Abba and Björn Borg, has always been one of the most important landmarks of the Scandinavian country. Nevertheless: Volvo remains Sweden. Volvo is Sweden. That's what a comprehensive campaign called "Made by Sweden" is currently making residents aware of.

The latest installment: a TV spot that lasts a whopping four minutes - and aired on Swedish TV last weekend. The longest commercial in Swedish TV history. And probably also one of the longest ever broadcast on regular TV under regular conditions.

The agency Forsman & Bodenfors with director Gustav Johansson and his production company New Land want to evoke a feeling called "Vemod" in the audience. The Swedish audience, of course. Because for Vemod - as for countless Swedish words - there is no exact translation into other languages. Google Translate makes it a bit too simple with "sadness". Rather, it refers to a feeling of melancholy that apparently accompanies the Swedes through the gloomy but beautiful winter months at the beginning of the year - and which inspires them to particular creativity. Be it in art, in music - or in car construction.

Bildschirmfoto-2015-01-20-um-19.11.28

The result is a spot that shows the gloomy beauty of Sweden in January - underpinned by the music of singer-songwriter Amanda Bergman. A spot that is explicitly meant to appeal to Swedes - we still like to watch. (hae)

On the site of the former Sihl paper mill in Zurich Manegg, an urban planning vision is becoming a new reality. Greencity is the first site to be consistently oriented toward the goals of the 2,000-watt society. On the eight-hectare site, a vital and urban mix of residential buildings and offices, stores, restaurants and a hotel as well as public facilities is being created.

Eyeloveyou lets the population research

Eyeloveyou, based in Basel, designed and implemented the Citizen Science platform Opennature.ch, both graphically and technically. Non-experts and nature enthusiasts can easily record their observations online. Observations of nature and the weather have long been measured and recorded electronically.

Natural phenomena and developments of fauna and flora in the seasons are already recorded by various organizations on individual topics. A Swiss web platform now offers a new, simple entry aid: OpenNature gives nature fans the opportunity to post their observations under Opennature.ch and to make them accessible to others and to science.

01_opennature_home_web

The Eyeloveyou agency designed the web platform supported by the National Fund on behalf of the Geographical Institute of the University of Bern. The main challenge was to capture the data in a scientifically compliant data structure without sacrificing usability and user-friendliness.

02_opennature_beobachten_web

In the interest of keeping user guidance as simple as possible, a very flat hierarchy with clear, unobtrusive color coding is used. Functionalities are clarified with icons and supplemented with tool tips where necessary. Predefined functions, such as the transfer of GPS locations from photo metadata, make operation considerably easier.

03_opennature_resultate_web

But not only the recording of data of a very wide range of topics of observations is a novelty: The recorded data can also be viewed in an animation on a map of Switzerland and as a graph - an interesting effect that should interest many nature lovers. One's own observations can also be looked up in the personal diary.
The platform was implemented on the basis of the open source system LifeRay. The entire platform was meticulously designed in advance by means of wireframes, and every action on the website was precisely aligned to make it as easy as possible to use: From direct image upload and exact matching of the data to be entered with national databases to location determination via automatic recognition of metadata from photos.

Ruf Lanz brings Easy Rider to the cornfield

Ruf Lanz is promoting the Graneo snack with a commercial that takes a playful jab at the chip experts.

Zweifel is the largest chips and snacks producer in Switzerland and, according to studies, one of the strongest brands in the country. It stands for tradition and quality and surprises again and again with product innovations. With the chips experts, Zweifel has found a way to dramatize this in an entertaining way in its communication. After a creative presentation, Ruf Lanz was commissioned to promote the multigrain snack Graneo on TV as part of the existing Chips Experts concept. Unlike the classic Zweifel chips, Graneo is not made from potatoes, but from five valuable types of grain. That's why all the passion of the chips experts in the new TV commercial is about mowing grain.

Maxomedia: HR campaign for Local.ch

Local.ch and Maxomedia’s current campaign is recruiting new field sales representatives through eye-catching banners and an informative landing page featuring a suitability test. At the same time, an engaging series of articles about the role of a client advisor is being published.

Put an end to unsatisfactory work where you have to bend! The current campaign of Local.ch, which Maxomedia conceived and realized, makes it clear: You can take success into your own hands. Because in the number 1 directory market in Switzerland, great performance also means great pay, and working as a customer consultant also promises enormous self-determination. The multi-phase HR campaign runs from now on and includes banners that are displayed on the campaign site. Areyou.local.ch be dissolved.

The banners show a wide variety of people who - figuratively speaking - are dissatisfied with their situation at work: because development opportunities and creative freedom are lacking. This condition is pictorially represented by a narrow box. On the informative landing page, the total of eight protagonists can then be seen liberated, with the resolution: "Take your success into your own hands! As a customer consultant at Local.ch"! In addition to a wealth of information about the profession and the employer Local.ch, interested parties can also test whether they are suitable to become a customer consultant. Of course, there is also the possibility to apply directly or to recommend the job opportunity to others.

The series of topics is intended not only to recruit new staff, but also to pay tribute to the existing ones, since the job in the field is not always easy, but at the same time the future of local.ch depends to a large extent on the customer advisors. The series will appear on the Local.ch website and will be placed in several media.

Twitter buys Indian phone advertising startup

Twitter is pushing ahead with its expansion in India. The microblogging service is acquiring Zipdial, a startup that specializes in telephone advertising.

The US group did not name a purchase price on Tuesday. The online magazine Techcrunch, citing unnamed sources, reported that the deal is worth between $30 million and $40 million. India is the world's second-largest mobile market. Many new startups are now attracting interest from big tech companies. Zipdial provides phone numbers to its customers for marketing purposes. In doing so, the company takes advantage of a peculiarity in India. To save on phone costs, many hang up before connecting. By indicating a missed call, for example, they signal their arrival at an arranged location. Through Zipdeal, they subsequently receive advertisements via text message. Customers include IBM, Gillette and Kentucky Fried Chicken. (SDA)
