Tamedia takes over Stromberg.ch

Tamedia is further expanding its presence in the online fashion sector and will acquire the fashion shop Stromberg.ch—founded in 2003 by André Brunner and Marco Novoselac—effective April 16, 2015.

Tamedia is already active in e-commerce with the online shopping club fashionfriends.ch and the online stores Brandstore.ch (fashion), Quaps.ch (kids & toys) and Beautybox.ch (cosmetics). These platforms are operated together with Stromberg.ch in the company Swiss Online Shopping, in which the previous owners of Stromberg.ch hold a stake. In addition to synergies in administration, IT and marketing, the bundling of activities also enables optimization in goods logistics - the basis for the further expansion of the fashion stores.

Twitter allows direct messages from all

The microblogging service Twitter is changing an important rule: Effective immediately, Twitter users can receive private messages from any other user. Previously, users had to follow each other in order to exchange direct messages.

The new feature is intended to make it easier for users to communicate with each other without everyone else noticing, Nhu Vuong from Twitter's development team wrote on the company blog. Until now, users had to publicly ask their desired communication partner on Twitter or on another channel to follow each other and then contact them via private message. In the future, this will no longer be necessary if the account accepts direct messages from everyone. This requires consent in the account's settings. Owners of a high-reach account - such as companies or celebrities - can communicate more easily with their customers or fans directly with the new feature. In the blog post, Twitter cites a coffee shop as an example that can receive direct customer feedback this way. However, the new direct communication channel also carries the risk that Twitter direct messages can be misused for unsolicited spam messages. (SDA)

Last but not least: Wrong mustard, wrong place

Heinz now makes mustard, too. You probably don't care about that. Heinz Ketchup, on the other hand, is absolutely thrilled about its new partner, as a wonderful commercial shows us.

Heinz did not invent the ketchup seasoning sauce, but was once just one of many manufacturers. However, the company has been the market leader in the USA since 1900, so it has an impressive history. It took a little longer for Heinz to come up with the idea of also offering "Yellow Mustard" suitable for hot dogs. The reason for the product expansion: for far too long, Heinz ketchup in hot dogs has been mixed with fake foreign mustard, according to the successful campaign created by the David agency, which is probably almost better (and more necessary) than the product. Bakom gives SRG good marks

OFCOM gives SRG good marks for its financial reporting and real estate management. There is only potential for improvement in certain areas.

The second part of SRG's performance audit focused on the areas of finance and real estate. SRG was scrutinized by the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) on behalf of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). According to information provided on Tuesday, Bakom found that SRG systematically plans and records its costs and services. The organization of SRG also makes a good overall impression in the area of real estate. OFCOM only requires that the certification of the real estate department is also implemented at regional level.

In the previous year, the first audit cycle covered the central management processes of corporate governance, strategy, strategy implementation, planning, management by objectives and internal audit. The performance audit has been completed with the third cycle. This will cover the areas of purchasing and procurement of services, personnel and advertising acquisition. In Switzerland, around CHF 1.3 billion of reception fees are available each year to support licensed radio and television broadcasters. SRG receives around CHF 1.2 billion to fulfill its service mandate.

SRG can be pleased about the good marks from the supervisory authority. On June 14, Swiss voters will vote on the new reception fee regulations. This is not uncontroversial politically. (SDA)

Streaming platform: Scaglione revives original brand 105

Giuseppe Scaglione is making a comeback in the media world with the interactive streaming platform «my105.» On Tuesday, he presented the project to the media at Clouds in Zurich.

The images were "unsurpassable in brutality" when, in early 2014, his company, Music First Network, had to deposit its balance sheet and the radio stations it operated were closed, Scaglione said. In the equally brutal, empty period that followed, he said, at some point he had to face a choice: Crash and let himself go - or gather all his strength and run again.

Bild_Giuseppe-Scaglione

He opted for the latter. For Scaglione, the period of absence also had a decisive advantage: he only really recognized the "epochal change" in the media world when he looked at it from the outside. He is referring to the "headphone generation," which consumes the omnipresent music very selectively due to the exploding smartphone density. "Streaming is the radio of the 21st century," the 105 founder is convinced.

IMG_8853

However, Scaglione sees a major problem with the established streaming services such as Spotify or the "100,000 web radios": The large selection of music, channels and services overwhelms users. A certain amount of choice is good, but infinite choice is not. Lighthouse brands" would provide a remedy, and Scaglione wants to jump into this niche with his old, established Brand 105. He was able to secure the brand rights for Switzerland from the Italian brand owners.

IMG_8859

The interactive streaming platform "my105" is launched on May 28. On eight channels for the time being, users can get to their favorite sound "with a click" via the app and web platform. Designed for the target group of 15- to 39-year-olds, users can select styles such as hip hop, rock, lounge, Swiss music or current charts. Scaglione wants to score points with the clear differentiation from the widespread streaming offers: The music is not selected by algorithms, but by people who could surprise the listeners. These would be accompanied through the day with "soft moderations" - an alternative to the anonymity of the streaming services. In Swiss German - the local positioning is also to be increasingly underlined later by events and community proximity. The community idea takes a central position: Listeners can not only rate the music played and thus influence the rotation, but as an innovation also upload audio messages and have them played. "Scaglione is convinced that this is a unique combination of community and editorial staff.

my105" is financed by Giuseppe Scaglione and his wife Paola Libera. In addition, keypartners Seat, Manor, Sobu.ch and Amavita are already involved at the start. Further money is to be earned with audio spots integrated into the program (pre-roll, in-stream), through exclusive banner placements and promotions. For the time being, the entire offer is free of charge, but paid premium accounts are possible in the future.

Scaglione also personally takes care of the music selection and provides overall management over a team of various professionals located in the country and probably mainly abroad. "my105" is purely cloud-based and does without shared premises. The new flexibility - online, rather than traditional radio business - opens up a completely new cost structure, explains Scaglione. When asked by a journalist what Roger Schawinski, with his Planet 105, actually has to say about the new 105 project, he replies with a twinkle in his eye, "Roger will probably be thrilled!" If there were still disagreements, however, he would suggest to Schawinski that he change the name, because: "That would be consistent." In principle, however, he sees no problems, because Planet 105 is focused on Zurich, while "my105" is aimed first at the whole of German-speaking Switzerland, and later also at French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino. In principle, however, the service can be used worldwide.

Bern-Luzern border region is now the "home country" for BLS

"Heimatland": under this name, the railroad company BLS and its partners are now promoting numerous excursion destinations in Emmental, Entlebuch, the Willisau region and Oberaargau.

The model is the "Lötschberger" excursion concept in the Bernese Oberland and Upper Valais. In 2008, BLS began to reposition the Lötschberg mountain route as an excursion train following the construction of the NRLA base tunnel. With success: BLS and its agency Erdmannpeisker received a marketing trophy for this in 2013 (Werbewoche.ch reported). The journey on the "Lötschberger" trains, specially designed for the mountain route, is simply the nicer one between Bern and the Upper Valais: this is what BLS writes on the website designed for the excursions. Subpage on the BLS website. The route through Emmental and Entlebuch between Bern and Lucerne is also the more beautiful, writes BLS on the new website dedicated to the "homeland".

Unbenannt-14_40

The four regions are centrally located, but the excursion destinations are still little known, argued BLS on Tuesday at the presentation of the new excursion concept in Bern. The region therefore still has great potential. The tourism forces are now being pooled.

Families, sports enthusiasts, culture vultures

In addition to the information on the internet, BLS and its partners also provide information in an adventure guide. There are ideas for family excursions, for example, but sports enthusiasts and culture vultures will also get their money's worth. BLS partners include Bern Tourism and Lucerne Tourism, as well as the Kambly cookie factory, the Emmental cheese dairy and the Unesco Biosphere Entlebuch. There will not be a train composition specially created for the Bern-Lucerne border region, but the EWIII commuter trains, which are prone to disruption, will be replaced from December this year. Public prosecutor's office investigates police incident

A journalist from Lucerne photographed police officers trying to arrest a woman in Lucerne on Sunday. Because he was unable to identify himself immediately, the police took him to the police station in handcuffs. According to the journalist, they deleted his pictures there.

Kurt Graf, media spokesman for the Lucerne police, confirmed the incident on Sunday evening at the Franciscan church when asked. However, he could neither confirm nor deny whether the photos in question were actually deleted from the journalist's digital camera. The journalist described the incident on the online platform Lu-elections.ch. When asked, he said that the deleted images would "seriously incriminate" the police. Police spokesman Graf said that the incident with the journalist was now being investigated. Also whether the arrest of the woman was proportionate or not. Lucerne public prosecutor Andrea Tresch told Radio Pilatus that the public prosecutor's office had launched an investigation to clarify the incident. She now had to gather information and then decide who and how many police officers would be investigated. (SDA)
