(pr) HP today announced the availability of the recently updated HP Indigo press 5000. Most notably, the print speed for monochrome printing (1/0) has been increased by 100%, enabling production of up to 16,000 prints per hour or 272 pages per minute(1).With the new software versions and hardware options, HP's best-selling 7-color digital press is optimally geared to quickly and efficiently produce manuals, variable data statements, transactional documents and other materials that are largely printed in monochrome.
Print service providers gain the flexibility to print a wider range of applications on a single device. This eliminates the need to set up or implement new workflows to print occasional single-color jobs on a separate device.
Other new press features include HP Professional PANTONE® technology, updated operating software and a higher capacity proof delivery. The enhancements are available with all new HP Indigo press 5000 systems or as a free upgrade for all HP Indigo press 5000 owners with a current service contract.
"With the latest enhancements to the HP Indigo press 5000, our customers gain a distinct competitive advantage in the production of printed materials ranging from high-volume monochrome documents to highly personalized full-color marketing materials with specific PANTONE and brand colors," said Alon Bar-Shany, vice president and general manager, Indigo Division, HP. "The upgrade to our leading press also underscores our commitment to continuous improvement and demonstrates our dedication to providing the best technology to increase our customers' productivity and profitability."
New functions optimize quality and productivity The significant increase in speed of the HP Indigo press 5000 already results in numerous time and cost savings in the standard version of the press.
HP Professional PANTONE technology for the HP Indigo press 5000 enables on press four-color (CMYK) PANTONE emulation that simulates colors from the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM. This new solution guarantees customers even better color consistency by automatically matching multiple colors in a single job. HP Professional PANTONE technology also uses ICC profiles to ensure optimized simulations for specific print substrate types.
The updated version 7.2 of the press software offers several new features for optimized productivity and usage, including separating sheets between jobs in job offset mode, support for multiple substrates loaded on press, faster stopping when interrupting and changing jobs, and reduced cold start time. In addition, the following new software features are available:
Optimized color level and front/back register for higher print quality
Remote queue monitoring for press job management and an updated user interface with support for German, French, Italian and Spanish. The HP Indigo press 5000 is also available with new optional stackers. Up to three optional stackers can be added to the standard HP Indigo press 5000 stacker, allowing multiple paper types to be fed(2). This also significantly increases operator productivity as media can be loaded and unloaded during printing.
"The enhancements to the HP Indigo press 5000 have already had a tangible impact on our overall bottom line," said Christopher M. Petro, President and CEO of Global Soft Digital Solutions of Mahwah, New Jersey, one of the early adopters of the enhanced press. "Overall, we've seen a 10 percent increase in output productivity, clear workflow optimizations, better color and efficiency when using multiple print media, and incredible speeds with an all-black output."
HP expects to make the enhancement upgrades available to HP Indigo press 5000 owners in March. New HP Indigo press 5000 customers will also be able to purchase the press with integrated enhancements in March.
