K4 Publishing System Version 5.6 is available
SoftCare GmbH, a leading developer of workflow solutions for the publishing industry, announces that version 5.6 of the K4 Publishing System is now available. Roadshow also coming to Switzerland.
Additionally, almost any asset management system can now be connected to K4. Standard connections for FotoStation from FotoWare, Visono MAM as well as for myCONTENT from picturesafe are already available. After transferring the images to K4, captions and credits can be dynamically transferred to text frames on the page, which automatically move with the corresponding image frame or adjust in size when the layout is changed. This simplifies page layout and reduces errors. After completion of the output, image lists can be output for commercial evaluation.
K4 version 5.6 offers additional options for further increasing production reliability and shortening correction cycles. In the new version, parts of the functionality of Adobe InDesign and InCopy can now be hidden. For example, editors can be prevented from manually formatting text parts instead of using prepared character and paragraph formats. With the new optional K4 Revision Manager plug-in, SoftCare gives users even more control over article text development and allows changes to be easily rolled back between any article versions.
"We are constantly working to make editorial workflows faster and more efficient with K4 and to simplify the installation and maintenance of the system," says Andreas Schrader, Managing Director of SoftCare. "K4 version 5.6 is another milestone in this process, enabling layout artists and editors to further reduce administrative overhead while freeing up more time for their core tasks."
Decision-makers and IT managers from the publishing environment and corporate publishing can get to know K4 version 5.6 in March and April at an international roadshow that will make stops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the Netherlands and Russia, among other countries. K4 will also be on display at international trade shows such as NEXPO, America East and IPEX. Dates and registration options can be found at www.K4PublishingSystem.de.
K4 Publishing System version 5.6 is now available from qualified system integrators worldwide. Customers running version 5.0 or higher will receive the update free of charge as part of their maintenance contract. K4 supports Mac OS X and Windows clients in mixed network environments. The server platform can be Mac OS X, Windows, Sun Solaris and Linux.
