Runway West for HP in a snow and surface rush

Startbahnwest designed two mailings for the new HP Designjet series. The Zurich-based creative team came up with two special mailings for the launch: they explain what a large format printer has to do with a ski resort and how you can get a big step ahead of the competition.
Startbahnwest is communicating two advantages of HP large format printers in separate mailings for different target groups. One is aimed at stores that already have a large format printer and would like to expand their range. Startbahnwest uses a ski resort to show that a larger range is more fun: more lifts - more options. To make this advantage tangible, the mailing raffled off day ski passes for the Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen-First region, as the agency wrote in a press release on Thursday.

The target group for the second mailing is print service providers who do not yet own a large-format printer. It shows that a large-format printer can put you well ahead of the competition. To illustrate the size of the maximum printable page, the mailing itself was designed in large format and sent out together with an articulated meter.

On Gleis7.ch, SBB's youth platform, a virtual train conductor has recently been animating young customers. The entire project was realized by Maxomedia: The combination of video, animation and application allows an individual and credible approach to the young target audience.
The mischievous conductor - played by comedian Claudio Zuccolini - speaks to the young people in German, French and Italian. He explains everything about season tickets, RailAway offers and the Gleis7.ch youth portal in a charming, bubbly manner. But that's not all: he bobs from one leg to the other, dances, jumps or gets bored if the user doesn't move the mouse for too long. The virtual train conductor has reserved a special "compartment" for young people born in 1991. The 16-year-olds receive a login code for "their" area via direct mail in the design of the Half-Fare travelcard. There they are made aware of SBB's range of travelcards and benefit from an introductory offer for the Half-Fare travelcard.

The volume of online advertising expenditure will have already overtaken that of radio advertising by 2008. This is the forecast made by ZenithOptimedia in a recently published analysis.
The media agency quoted on Horizont.at also estimates that online advertising will grow six times faster than traditional media types worldwide between 2006 and 2009. As a result, the market share of online advertising could rise from 5.8 to 8.7 percent. This development will be driven by the markets in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East. These regions will generate double-digit growth rates and compensate for the comparatively weak performance in North America. ZenithOptimedia expects advertising expenditure on the Internet to increase to 5.2% this year. Next year, this market share could grow to 6.2% thanks to the Olympic Games, elections and the European Football Championship.

Just in time before consumers die out, Sugus wants to position itself clearly in the sweets market with a brand campaign: up-to-date and attractive - and not just for kids.

The Bern-based media company Espace Media is on the upswing - thanks to higher advertising revenues. The operating result EBIT increased by 29 percent to CHF 26 million in 2006. In contrast, consolidated profit fell by 6 percent to CHF 17.6 million.
Sales were also down, falling by 4.5 percent to CHF 250 million, as Espace announced on Thursday. The decline was due to the loss of the printing order for the Anzeiger Region Bern and the closure of the web printing plant in Uetendorf. These are also the factors why the increased profitability did not have an impact on the consolidated result, as company spokesman Christopher Wehrli explained to SDA on request.

Operating expenses were reduced by 7.3% and the operating result before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) improved by 24.8% to CHF 40.5 million. Corporate cash flow increased by CHF 6 million to CHF 39.3 million. Corporate profit after tax improved by 7.6% to CHF 23.0 million despite higher taxes.

The positive economic situation contributed to the good result. In particular, the advertising business of the Berner Zeitung's complete edition saw a positive development after a five-year dry spell. The increase in job advertisements, for example, amounted to 29 percent.

In return, Publisuisse guarantees a media performance of at least six million gross contacts per round as well as a presence on Weischwas.ch. This is advertising

Game TBWA/London created the "This is Living" campaign for Sony Playstation.

Game TBWA/London created the "This is Living" campaign for Sony Playstation.
The PlayStation3 is here. The third generation of the Japanese fun box has been on sale in stores for weeks. And Sony has been busy promoting it. Perhaps also because the Christmas business was completely overslept due to supply bottlenecks. Under the slogan "This is Living", the TBWA/London agency is launching a quirky lifestyle campaign for the Japanese electronics giant. The story is told around eight characters who all stay in a mysterious hotel. It is a crazy world staged by the creative team. There's the hotel receptionist Bubba, who tap dances on the table. Or the money-grabbing mercenary Lieutenant Kovacs, who bathes for hours and delivers confused monologues. Bruce Leghorn plays the foppish quiz show legend, Cherry the naive blonde, Keiji is an introverted Asian and Plato a midfield striker. The troupe is completed by the passionate crook couple Hotdog and Lucia.
In the "Underbelly" commercial, the quirky characters initially only raise questions. Only short snippets of conversation can be heard. A real muddle. In the follow-up spot "Grenade" comes the denouement. The characters appear in a story that revolves around a suitcase full of money that is blown up in an adventurous manner with a hand grenade. It rains banknotes. "This is Living", concludes Bubba.
The campaign is not directly linked to the Sony PlayStation3. There are no technical references at all. The style and design of the commercials are occasionally reminiscent of BMW's short film series "The Hire". The film was directed by Dante Ariola. The film was shot in Merida, Mexico. At the heart of the campaign in Switzerland are one TV spot and two cinema spots. The stories are deliberately left open and are continued on the specially created internet platform www.thisisliving.tv. There, the characters are introduced in more detail on a tour of the hotel.

Betty Bossi: "Cherchez l'homme!"

Lifestyle Guhl/Partners has announced that Betty will now be appearing with Bossi.

Lifestyle Guhl/Partners has announced that Betty will now be appearing with Bossi.
The teaser campaign by Guhl/Partners made it clear at a glance that Bossi must have something to do with Betty Bossi. Bossi is the new cross-media magazine from Betty Bossi Verlag. In the initial phase, Betty is supporting Bossi as its midwife. In the reveal of the teaser campaign, the creatives at Guhl/Partners now show Betty smiling, praising, and amused as she watches her «Bossi» at work in the kitchen. The ad campaign, designed as a photo essay, documents—as project manager Ursula Guhl explains—«the reversal of traditional gender roles through spontaneous, authentic images.».
More than just a new magazine: Bossi is targeting the new «fast casual» demographic with a fresh offering. «Bossi positions itself as »masculine, down-to-earth, and fun, and embodies a vision of modern, gender-fluid roles,’” says Isabelle Dürselen from the publishing house. This makes Bossi appear young and appealing to both male and female readers.
Bossi is much more than just a magazine. Subscribers receive two electronic newsletters every week featuring recipes, inspiration, weekend tips, and lifestyle content. They also have exclusive access to online services such as the online store, invitation manager, and meal planner. Both the website and the magazine were designed by MetaDesign.
