Corrigendum

In the article "Print becomes cheaper" in the Werbewoche issue 40/41 of 19.11.09, a minus sign was lost in the table. Specifically, the column "Discount 2010: 1/1 fixed to vf-mm" for the Neue Luzerner Zeitung should correctly read -23%.

This means that a full-page fixed format in the Neue Luzerner Zeitung is 23 percent cheaper than an advertising page calculated according to the color millimeter rate. The missing minus sign now makes the statement the opposite: according to this, the fixed format in the Neue Luzerner Zeitung would be a full 23 % more expensive than the advertising page calculated according to color millimeters - and that makes no sense in the city of lights or anywhere else.

Ruf Lanz: For Suva Pro the boredom in the hospital dramatized

The Ruf Lanz agency created a campaign for Suva Pro designed to show just how boring it really is in the hospital.

In addition to the Suva Liv brand, which promotes safety in leisure time, Ruf Lanz also manages the budget for the Suva Pro brand. Suva uses this brand to promote safety in the workplace. On the one hand, this is done through direct measures in the numerous Suva-insured companies, and on the other hand, the general public is also made aware of the dangers in the workplace - regardless of the respective occupational category. This is currently being done with a full-page advertisement in numerous Swiss newspapers, which is likely to be rather small. It shows in a surprising way how boring it can be in hospital. The logical conclusion: never underestimate the risk of accidents in the workplace.

Study: Radio advertising works despite distraction

Radio commercials have a strong impact on listeners despite their limited attention span. On average, radio advertising increases listeners’ purchase intent by 10 percent; in some cases, it even increases it by a remarkable 29 percent.

This is the conclusion of a series of studies on the implicit advertising impact of consumer goods advertising on the radio, conducted by the Berlin-based Radiozentrale together with AS&S Radio and Decode Marketingberatung. "As a 360-degree companion, radio is a real basic medium in people's everyday lives. A medium that has an impact - direct, sustainable and subtle. The results of this study clearly show that radio offers advertisers important arguments for campaign planning," says Esther Raff, Managing Director of AS&S Radio, according to Pressetext. Inattention does not prevent radio from being effective, adds Radiozentrale Managing Director Lutz Kuckuck. Around 75 percent of the radio spots tested provided an additional buying impulse in the overall group despite distraction.
Advertising market underestimates radio
"Radio can score points due to its sales strength and emotionality, especially in difficult times like these. Hardly anyone would have bet against it. However, many people are not sufficiently aware of how significant the additional sales generated via radio are," explains Kuckuck when asked by Pressetext. Radio has a number of significant advantages over other media types, such as strong sales, rapid coverage, high topicality and a very good price-performance ratio. Despite these structural advantages, radio is still underestimated in the advertising market. "In terms of daily reach, radio is still the most widely used medium in Germany, and it also has incredible listener loyalty. However, radio's share of the advertising market is currently only six percent and is therefore reciprocal to listener usage. In our estimation, this figure should be significantly higher," says Kuckuck.
Strong emotionality increases purchase intention
According to the results of the study, radio's strong emotionality is the main reason for its great power to activate a listener's intention to buy. "Brand managers must therefore ask themselves to what extent the reward patterns are precisely tailored to buyers, product users and potential new customers and then bring them emotionally to the consumer. Radio is particularly suitable for conveying these emotional goodies," says Kuckuck.

Matter & Gretener: International campaign for Motorex

The Matter & Gretener agency has created a branding campaign for Motorex that is launching in Switzerland, Germany, and France.

According to the press release, this was based on discussions with decision-makers from a wide range of industries in order to understand their specific needs. The result: whether it's performance, reliability or quality of advice, Motorex is the partner for anyone who expects more. A strategic approach that allows the "Challenge the Limits" campaign, which focuses on performance optimization and has been used by Motorex in recent years, to be expanded by a decisive dimension.
The multidimensional brand promise was implemented with a testimonial campaign whose pointed headlines make it clear how demanding the Motorex customers portrayed are. The catchy claim: "What do you think, why does he swear by us?"
The campaign starts in Switzerland, Germany and France with advertisements in special interest titles and TV commercials. Other countries will follow.
Responsible at Motorex: Edi Fischer (CEO), Manuel Gerber (Head of Marketing), Martin Basler (Head of Sales). Responsible at Matter & Gretener: Daniel Matter (CD), Dominik Imseng (text), Urs Hartmann (AD), Marcus Gretener, Nicole Liebermann (consulting). Photography and direction: Serge Hoeltschi. Film production: Condor Films, Zurich.

SFLB: Sihlcity turned into a gift city

The SFLB agency created a Christmas campaign for Sihlcity. It highlights the fact that you can find Christmas gifts for the whole family at the Sihlcity shopping center without having to run all over the place.

Every year, just before Christmas, we have to buy all the presents for the family and run from pillar to post until we have them all together. You can save yourself this by going shopping at Sihlcity, according to a press release. There you can find everything you need in one place. And that is actually the best present for Christmas. Reason enough for Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett to wrap the whole of Sihlcity in lots of little presents.

Last but not least: Are you still wack?

Actually, there are only a few rules that texters need to follow. It’s no problem at all if you have a clear head. Unfortunately, though, most people don’t always have one.

The rules: Don't try to explain complicated issues, don't end relationships, don't hide irony between the lines (unless you're sure that the undertone will come across - even without a smiley), only use smileys in an extreme emergency anyway, don't use abbreviations that nobody understands, stay politically correct and, last but not least, carefully check the text message recipient again before finally sending the message. It's actually not that difficult to stick to these rules. If you have a clear head. Unfortunately, we don't have one every minute of our lives. A bar, loud music, fog from the fog machine or from the mouths of our fellow smokers - plus a beer, two beers, three beers...then the fatal reach for the cell phone - it goes without saying that we can't and/or don't want to stick to all the text message rules in such a situation. Well, one or two smileys too many or one or two incomprehensible abbreviations typed - no problem. Major mistakes, however, can have serious consequences - there are no limits to the imagination at this point. So far, so good, it's all been known since the cell phone was invented. It's just a shame when the missteps in SMS form not only reach the (hopefully at least correct) recipient, but also the Internet - where, as is the case on the Internet, they can be read by the whole world. The site is called Smsvongesternnacht.de. It's worth taking a look at the collected embarrassments.
