Last but not least: Bollywood for Indian Railways

Ogilvy & Mather Delhi has launched a commercial for Indian Railways designed to highlight just how much fun traveling by train in India is and how it brings people together. The commercial is instantly recognizable, and not just because of the Indian lead actor’s face.

The film was directed by Prakash Varma and produced by Nirvana Films.
Even though the commercial is intended to promote the fun of train travel with Indian Railway, it doesn't exactly make you smile. As a viewer, you can't quite avoid a depressing feeling. Even the cheerful music in the background doesn't do much to change this. What's more, it's not just the face of the actor leading the procession of people that is strongly reminiscent of someone like Shahrukh Khan. The idea of the film also bears a strong resemblance to a commercial that was shot for Hong Kong Railways some time ago:

McCann Erickson launches new look for 24 heures

A new look with a new agency. After McCann Erickson won the pitch for the Edipresse publishing group, the agency’s Geneva office is now implementing the campaign for *Les 24 Heures*’s new brand identity.

In order to convey reader proximity and the credibility of the brand to the public, journalists were used as testimonials to convey the message. The campaign aims to give the newspaper's creators a face, bring them closer to the public and showcase their passion for the journalistic profession. This is underlined by the headline "Journalist at 24 heures and proud to write for you".
"24 heures dans la vie des Vaudois" is the new claim of the audience-oriented multimedia brand. The offer that 24 heures provides its readership as a multiple source of information also appears in the packshot.
In addition to print, posters and TV, the campaign also covers radio and online advertising.

Expansion at World Radio Switzerland

Three years after its foundation, World Radio Switzerland WRS is expanding its broadcasting program and reception area within Switzerland. WRS now works together with the public broadcasters National Public Radio, American Public Media and Public Radio International.

These new partnerships will allow WRS to broadcast 27 additional hours of program content from public radio stations each week. WRS announced on Wednesday that it is thus realizing its declared goal of providing listeners with comprehensive information about Switzerland. With studios in Geneva, Zurich and Bern as well as funding guaranteed by SRG, WRS can also expand its reception area within Switzerland. According to Radio Control, 53,000 listeners follow the program every day, WRS added. However, the SRG's English-language radio station will continue to receive news and programs from the BBC World Service.
WRS is the English-language radio station of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SSR SRG and can be heard in the region around Lake Geneva on the frequency 101.7 FM. In the rest of Switzerland, reception requires a digital radio, cable, satellite or Swisscom TV or Internet.

Flop of the week: User data passed on to advertising companies

Facebook continues to face criticism over its handling of sensitive user data. The social network confirmed that a number of applications on Facebook are unauthorizedly accessing users' identification numbers and passing them on to advertising companies or data brokers.

According to a report in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal, each of the ten most popular Facebook applications passes on user data to external companies. According to the report, the applications not only read information from individual users themselves, but in some cases also from their friends. Facebook announced its intention to "dramatically limit" the disclosure of user IDs, which are used to technically link information to a Facebook profile. However, the current disclosure of user ID numbers does not allow access to the private data of Facebook users. According to Facebook programmer Mike Vernal, the media reports about the leak are also "exaggerated". "The developers did not intend to pass on the data," he wrote on the company's website. Rather, incorrect settings in Internet browsers are to blame.

Celebrating together brings more

Aldi has been a part of everyday life in Switzerland for five years. Contexta is joining in the celebration.

That's how fast time flies. Aldi has already been in Switzerland for five years. And with great success. To mark its anniversary, the company wanted a campaign that would express Aldi Suisse's connection with Switzerland. The idea: Aldi Suisse does not celebrate itself, but other anniversaries. Over 1200 associations and institutions that were also celebrating a milestone anniversary responded to an appeal.
The ten main winners will now be celebrated by Contexta in a large-scale poster and advertising campaign. And, of course, they will be presented with a suitable item from the range. The main winners will also receive an anniversary party sponsored by Aldi with a total value of half a million francs. With this sympathetic and generous gesture, Aldi Suisse is generating a lot of goodwill throughout Switzerland. Aldi Suisse has cleverly selected the beneficiary associations to appeal to a wide range of population groups.
With sales of 1.2 billion, Aldi Suisse is already the fifth-largest retailer in Switzerland. The company from Germany goes back to a "Tante Emma" store founded in Essen in 1913. This was run by the mother of Karl and Theo Albrecht. After the war, the two brothers took over their parents' business and soon opened a larger store. They continued to expand and by 1950 had grown into a small grocery chain of 13 conventional stores. In 1960, the year of the split into Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd, there were already 300 stores. Due to the rise of self-service supermarkets in West Germany, sales in the Albrecht brothers' very small convenience stores also stagnated in the early 1960s. "Parlor stores" no longer had a future and were constantly losing more sales to supermarket chains. In order to find a way out of this critical situation, Karl and Theo Albrecht also turned to the "supermarket" sales type from 1960 onwards. Today, the Aldi Group operates around 7,000 stores in Europe and around 1,200 stores in Australia and the USA. On average, one store is added somewhere in the world every week.
