Radio Jay becomes Radio Switzerland

The former Radio Jay AG, based in Zurich, is now operating under the name Radio Schweiz AG. In 2007, Radio Jay, along with «Züri Live,» Radio Energy, and Radio Monte Carlo, had applied for a license to broadcast in the greater Zurich area.

Radio Jay AG was established in 2007 under founding president Oliver Flückiger. Alongside Roger Schawinski and Giuseppe Scaglione, Flückiger tried his luck with a radio station in Zurich with "Züri Live", but came up empty-handed. In December 2009, Flückiger, who had been employed by Energy Zurich in the meantime, stepped down as Chairman and left the company. Gregor Loser then took over the chairmanship. Born in St. Gallen, he is Managing Director of IFKI Switzerland, an institute for communication and interaction based in Zurich and Heerbrugg.
Werbewoche asked the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of Radio Schweiz about the reasons for the change of name: "The previous name was focused on earlier projects and their target audiences," says Loser. With the non-licensing of "Züri Live", these no longer applied. The new company name, Radio Schweiz, is now intended to emphasize the broad range of projects and fields of activity geared towards regional language offerings. It is also intended to avoid confusion with previous activities and exponents. According to its own information, the purpose of Radio Schweiz AG is the operation and distribution of radio programs and electronic information and entertainment services. Loser did not want to reveal much more. Radio Schweiz AG will "communicate in due course".
Radio Schweiz AG is a member of the Swiss Private Radio Association. Its new domicile is at Limmatquai 70 in Zurich, at the headquarters of the IFKI.

By Heart: Visiting the Kaltbach cave master for Emmi

Emmi has launched a new cave-aged cheese called «Kaltbach Extra.» For the accompanying TV commercial, the communications agency By Heart visited the cave master in Kaltbach, Lucerne.

At the center of the story is the Kaltbach cave master, who has spent months maturing this new cheese until he labels it "Extra". The film builds heavily on the golden yellow brand world of Kaltbach, but adds some emotionalizing elements to this world. These include a gate that turns the cave into a mystical place that is only accessible to the cave master, the owner of the cave key. Above all, however, this also includes the cave master himself, who gives the premium brand's affinage expertise a face and should become a guarantee of quality.

Last but not least: apprenticeship dropouts because of cooking programs

An above-average number of apprentice chefs drop out of their training these days. Experts are now blaming the countless TV cooking programs. These apparently convey a false image of the profession.

Jamie Oliver, René Schudel, Ralf Zacherl Cooking with the professionals on TV is usually easy, exciting and fun. No wonder many young people take a liking to the profession and apply for an apprenticeship. However, the motivation doesn't seem to last too long for many of them. In Germany, for example, as many as 40 percent of apprentices drop out of their training. Everyday life is probably different, the restaurant kitchen is not a TV cooking studio. Whatever the case, cooking continues on television. Just last Friday, Swiss television announced a new cooking program for spring 2011. Bon appétit!

Startbahnwest: New commitment in the cultural sector

With the support of Weltklassik Rheinfelden, Startbahnwest expands its pro bono engagement in the cultural sector. The Zurich agency developed the corporate design for the new concert series and implemented it in a flyer and advertisements.

The name "Weltklassik Rheinfelden" actually says everything there is to know about the new concert series, according to the agency. That's why they decided not to use a classic logo, but rather to stage the name. The corporate design is therefore flexible and yet has a high recognition value.
Startbahnwest has been supporting the Solsberg Festival as an in-kind sponsor for several years. With the work for Weltklassik Rheinfelden, the agency is now expanding its pro bono commitment in the cultural sector.
