KSB Krieg Schlupp Bürge is once again highlighting Coop’s overarching strategic themes this year, such as environmental sustainability, fair trade, and regional sourcing. The campaign launched last Sunday in the Sunday newspapers.

The first motif focuses on Pro-Montagna mountain cheese. It is emphasized that with all Pro Montagna products, the raw materials not only come from the mountain regions, but are also processed there, thus securing the jobs of mountain farmers and the livelihoods of their families. In addition, with every Pro Montagna cheese sold, an amount goes to the Coop Sponsorship for Mountain Regions, which supports sustainable projects in Swiss mountain regions.

SFLB: Putting the new Volvo sports station wagon in the cage

Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett has developed a teaser campaign for the new Volvo V60. The campaign builds on the fact that this sport wagon combines design with power and dynamic handling.

In the two-stage launch campaign, the Volvo V60 is presented to the public by first showing only a cage with glowing panther eyes. Without any indication of what it is. In a second step, the Volvo V60 breaks out of the cage. With 304 hp, the sports estate has so much bite that it belongs in a cage like a predator, say the advertisers.

The campaign includes a TV commercial, posters, advertisements, special online banners, showroom presentations, giveaways and screensavers for the iPhone and iPad. In addition, Volvo V60 models are driving around in cages as part of a roadshow in Swiss cities. Anyone who spots one can take a photo of themselves with the sports estate and upload the picture to Facebook to take part in the Volvo V60 competition. The campaign is running now.

Swiss Media Cast: Soon all DAB+ channels occupied

Swiss Media Cast operates the DAB+ network for private radio stations in German-speaking Switzerland, complementing SRG's existing DAB networks. In addition to filling the remaining available program slots, the broadcasting company announced further network expansion.

Swiss Media Cast broadcasts 18 channels at full capacity. 14 are currently occupied. The four program slots still available are to be filled within the first quarter of 2011. The company announced on Saturday that it has received seven specific requests since the end of December. Parallel to the launch of further stations, the network expansion is also being continuously driven forward. Swiss Media Cast's DAB+ can currently be received in most of the Central Plateau. With the launch of stage 3, which is planned for the second quarter of 2011, most of eastern Switzerland, the Zurich-Chur axis and the Surselva (Chur-Disentis) will be covered. Completion of the network expansion is planned for the end of 2011.

Last but not least: boredom as standard

What lies between the lines is often more intriguing than the text itself. Until now, email recipients could still wonder whether the friendly wording was truly meant that way—or whether there might be a hidden message. But the future holds a barren wasteland.

We have developer companies such as Lymbix to thank for this. The Canadian company has developed software that recognizes and filters out the more penetrating overtones and undertones in email messages. (And of course, it is only a matter of time before the program becomes even cleverer and also notices the more subtle tonalities). If there is too much negativity or aggression, the program sends a warning to the screen. The company is also planning a program for the future that will also suggest more neutral alternatives. Boring! As if standard formulations weren't already used enough to avoid stepping out of line.

Ruf Lanz promotes Lotos home decor on the radio

The Ruf Lanz agency is promoting its client «Lotos, Home Decor from Asia» with a series of radio spots on Radio 1. The spots feature grim travel impressions from Asia.

The series shows that Asia is a continent with fascinating cultures and great natural beauty. But the traveler also encounters some inconveniences, such as malaria mosquitoes or the stinky fruit durian. The laconic message follows: "Why not enjoy Asia at home - with furniture and accessories from Lotos."

SRF: Where the SRG leadership is steering the company

Two SRF executives spoke to the Sunday press about the company’s future plans. SRF Director Rudolf Matter wants to increase the staff in Bern and launch a new political talk show on television this summer. According to Head of Entertainment Christoph Gebel, there will be more folk music again starting in 2012. In addition, the Sunday edition published information from an internal video in which SRG executives announced an internet initiative.

"We will be moving more people to the federal parliament. We will also launch our political talk show in the summer," explained Rudolf Matter (pictured above), the first Super Director of Radio and Television (SRF) since the beginning of the year, in an interview with SonntagsBlick. The Arena will remain "in any case". Television also "absolutely needs a soap again". "I have in mind a format in the style of 'Lüthi and Blanc' that is broadcast weekly."

When asked whether the cancellation of sporting events such as Formula 1 or the Champions League was conceivable as a cost-saving measure, Matter said in the interview that such events are indeed expensive. The question arises as to whether a single broadcaster can still afford all available sports rights. "I don't rule out that it will be an issue to closely examine whether we can still pay the rising prices for the major sporting events," explained the SRF Director. However, Swiss television had already acquired the TV rights for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in 2007. According to Matter, programs such as "Jackass" or "Jungle Camp" are reserved for private broadcasters. "I think it's fine that there is a division of labor between the public service and private broadcasters."

Fans of folk music and Schlager are to get their money's worth again, as SRF's Head of Entertainment Christoph Gebel (pictured above) promised in an interview with the Sonntag newspaper. The program for 2011 is already largely in place. However, he has "defined folk music as a priority for 2012". It is worth thinking about whether "Hopp dä Bäse" needs a relaunch. "There are so many good folk musicians in Switzerland that it would be a failure not to give them a platform," said the SRF Head of Entertainment.

Internal video shows Roger de Weck and Matter in front of the workforce

Sonntag also knows more about the future plans of SRG's management team from an internal video recorded at an employee event last Monday and obtained by the newspaper. According to Rudolf Matter, SRF will have a "much stronger multimedia presence" in future.

Roger de Weck also raised the issue of a media fee. When asked whether fees would be charged for internet services, de Weck explained that the public "would certainly not be prepared to pay a fee for internet services". However, the discussion that had begun in parliament about a media fee instead of a radio and television fee was "going in the right direction".
