Ruf Lanz: VBZ personnel campaign voted Best Recruiting Campaign 2011

The Queb Award "Best Recruiting Campaign" is presented each year to the best recruiting campaign in German-speaking countries. The award was presented on Thursday evening in Munich to Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich for its "Wir bewerben uns" campaign.

The campaign was designed by the long-standing VBZ advertising agency Ruf Lanz. According to the agency's press release, VBZ thus succeeds the media giant Bertelsmann, which was previously the winner. The VBZ concept has beaten ideas from Siemens, Audi, Danone, Pfizer and KPMG, among others.

"We are applying. With this innovative and actually so obvious approach, the HR department of Zurich's public transport company is approaching its target group. A simple but ingenious idea that strikes a chord with the times," Gero Hesse, jury member and spokesman for the Queb board, is quoted as saying in the press release. The personal approach to applicants and the consistent integration on the Internet were particularly convincing. In contrast to the conventional application process, the transport companies published reality clips in which supervisors apply to the jobseekers. "With our concept, we are answering the essential applicant question 'Why should I invest my talents and energy in you as an employer'," explains Jörg Buckmann, Head of HR Management at Zurich Public Transport.

Tourism: fewer overnight stays in the canton of Graubünden

In the Graubünden hotel industry, 7.4 percent fewer overnight stays were booked in August than in the same month last year. Compared to its Alpine competitors, the Bernese Oberland and Valais, Graubünden recorded the largest decline.

Overnight stays by tourists from Germany have fallen by over 17 percent. Hoteliers experienced practically the same slump among guests from the Netherlands, according to the report published on Friday by the marketing organization Graubünden Ferien (GRF). The number of overnight stays by Swiss tourists remained practically stable.

At destination level, hotels in Prättigau and Lenzerheide registered more overnight stays than in the same month last year. Hotels in the Engadin and Samnaun region and in the Disentis and Sedrun area recorded the largest losses. According to GRF, the August results are also "clearly below the average" in a 10-year comparison. The decline across the country averaged 6.4 percent.

Graubünden's Alpine competitors, the Bernese Oberland and the canton of Valais, lost 5 percent and 6.9 percent of overnight stays respectively. The canton of Ticino and the area around Lake Geneva suffered greater losses than Graubünden, with a decline of 12.5 percent and 7.7 percent respectively. (SDA)

Formula three for Parisienne: Voilà la Verte

The Formeldrei agency has created a campaign for Parisienne. The campaign promotes the new Verte cigarette, which contains no additives or natural or artificial flavors.

In addition, no aluminum or cellophane is used in the production of the cigarette. The wrapper is made of fully recyclable, dye-free wrapping paper that is printed without any varnish. Only certified paper is used for all print advertising. Only renewable hydropower is used in production. The promotional teams arrive by bike and hand out giveaways made from natural materials, environmentally friendly matches and the new P-Box, a pocket ashtray for collecting litter on the go.

BTL's campaign visualizes the new product with "Voilà la Verte". ATL works with photographic references to the world of nudism and the slogan "New with no" - as we all know, less is not only more, it can also simply look better.

In addition to posters, advertisements, cinema slides and an information folder, Formeldrei realized all POS and promotional measures as well as the design for the new Verte website with all the information, ordering options, a game and special donation options for Parisienne's environmental partners.

Frontwork: Advertising medium labeled for Swiss

If a five-and-a-half-meter-high Swiss tail fin suddenly appears right in front of your car, you’re driving around a newly built roundabout in Zurich-Kloten. The advertising specialists at Frontwork have adorned the structure with the Swiss cross.

As a symbol of the national airline, the tail fin will now adorn the gyroscope, as Frontwork writes in a press release. It landed there a few weeks ago with the help of Skyworker and a lifting platform and remained covered up until the inauguration on Thursday.

Study on party websites: SP closest to users

The SP is winning the election campaign—at least the digital one. According to a study by the IFAA, the SP, closely followed by the SVP, is the party whose website best addresses the needs of the Swiss people.

The elections on October 23, 2011 are approaching, but how close are the Swiss parties' communications to the needs and interests of their voters? The Institute for Applied Argument Research (IFAA) in Bern, together with students from the University of Bern Media Studies (IKMB), took a scientific look at the websites of the Swiss political parties. All content on the party portals was compared with current search data from various search engines in order to measure the proximity of the online campaigns to the public.

As in 2007, it can generally be said that the left-wing and green parties communicate closer to the interests of the Swiss population than the bourgeois parties. The SP, closely followed by the SVP and the Greens, is obviously more in tune with the times with its official websites than its fellow campaigners in the bourgeois parties. The CVP, on the other hand, is doing particularly badly - it has lost a lot of ground compared to 2007 and is therefore at the bottom of the rankings.

The differences between the parties on the web are significant this year: they amount to between 67.4 percent (SD) and 45.7 percent (BDP) in terms of user proximity. The BDP therefore comes last in this ranking. Among the small parties, the Swiss Democrats win, followed by the Party of Labor and the CSP, with the Freedom Party coming last in the IFAA ranking.

Most parties obviously consider globalization to be the most important topic trend for winning the election campaign, with four of the five party portals surveyed even ranking it among the top ten topics. Another important topic for winning votes is the energy debate. In 2007, this was still primarily a climate debate, but in the current election campaign it is no longer just the SP and the Greens who are hoping to win the favor of voters with this topic, but the conservative parties have also discovered the energy issue. Other important issues for almost all parties are peace policy, migration and financial policy.

However, according to political scientist and online researcher Christoph Glauser, if you compare the most important topics of the parties with the search queries of potential voters on search engines in order to get a picture of the mood of the population, the priorities are quite different: "The Swiss often search for banks, agriculture, finance, Europe, taxes and work with the help of search engines. When it comes to energy topics, the content offered and the content searched for are on a par." Health policy topics or help topics on personal issues are always very popular. Since the 2003 election campaign, topics relating to the drug problem or Iraq have completely disappeared.
