Bühler&Bühler stages adhesive

An innovative corporate design can also work well for an industrial company—as demonstrated by the Zurich-based agency Bühler&Bühler in its redesign of artimelt.

The companies Nolax, Collano and Emerell, which belong to LAS Holding, are bundling their hot melt adhesive businesses into a new, independent company. artimelt has been operating as a new hot melt competence center since April 1.

In January, Bühler&Bühler was awarded the contract to develop the entire visual identity following a pitch. The idea behind the concept: to artistically stage a visually interchangeable product such as hotmelt and to give the internationally active Artimelt Swiss premium quality with an unmistakable character. The key visual consists of real hot-melt adhesive in its various shapes and forms. Bühler&Bühler developed the visual centerpiece together with the photographer couple Thomas Stöckli and Anne Lutz. The first implementations under the new CI/CD including logo are letterheads, Website as well as product labels, building signage and presentation folders.

Brand Roadshow 2016: The neglected potential of networked digital brand management

Serviceplan Suisse, Plan.Net Suisse, Mediaschneider and GfK hosted the 7th Brand Roadshow at the Hotel Widder on Tuesday. Prominent speakers explored the question of what makes brands successful in the digital transformation.

The importance of a holistically networked strategy for the digital transformation of a brand was demonstrated to around 200 guests at this year's brand roadshow. After a brief welcome by Christian Baertschi (Managing Director Serviceplan Group Switzerland) and an introduction by Manfred Strobl (CEO Mediaschneider), the speakers Peter Haller (Managing Director Serviceplan Group), Wolfgang Adlwarth (Insights Director Strategic Marketing GfK Panels), Stefanie Jermann (Key Account Manager GfK Consumer Experiences) Barbara Evans (Managing Director Facit Media Efficiency) and Dominik Terruhn (Managing Director Plan.Net Media) addressed the topic and presented practical concepts and tools for implementing a holistic networking strategy.

90 percent not satisfied with digital brand management

According to a study conducted in 2015 on behalf of the German Brands Association, 90% of the companies surveyed are not satisfied with their digital brand management. They stated that there was a lack of networking between digital and analog tools. Peter Haller attributes the reason for this to the pace of innovation in IT technology and the resulting applications, which overwhelm the brand management practices of most companies. How this can be counteracted and the untapped potential of an overall online and offline networked strategy can be exploited was explained to the expert audience using successful concepts for the five levels of "target group", "touchpoints and media", "content", "sales" and "real-time data".

DrPeterHaller
Peter Haller, Managing Director Serviceplan Group

Success concepts on five levels

The success concept for the "target group" level distinguishes between three target group types (non-users, standard users, mobile digital users) and equates a focus on the growing group of mobile digital users with brand success. At the "touchpoints and media" level, the concept for success includes, on the one hand, the company knowing the needs and media behavior of its target persons and, on the other hand, analog and digital media being coordinated and used sensibly. The concept for success at the "Content" level describes the importance of networking the content presentation: the aim is to define a value profile that is relevant to the target group and is authentically lived by the brand. At the "Sales" level, the success concept includes the development of an omnichannel concept and the transfer of digital tools to the PoS. The success concept at the fifth level, "Real-time data", highlights the importance of business intelligence in dealing with big data: Marketing and sales data should be processed promptly in an automated process and used in this way.

SRG posts loss of 90 million francs in 2015

SRG closed the 2015 fiscal year with a loss of 90 million Swiss francs. SRG attributed the loss to a shortfall in revenue from value-added tax and the creation of a provision for its pension fund, as the company announced on Thursday.

The loss of millions is not unexpected: SRG had already announced that it expected a considerable deficit for 2015. The Federal Court ruling in April 2015, according to which fee payers do not have to pay VAT, tore a hole in the coffers. Since then, SRG has had to pay VAT from its own funds. In 2015, this resulted in a loss of revenue of CHF 27 million, as SRG writes. SRG has already launched a savings program due to the loss of revenue. Around 250 jobs are to be cut. The costs for the associated provisions - around CHF 31 million - were charged to the 2015 annual accounts. SRG has made a further provision of CHF 70 million for the pension fund. This became necessary due to the poor outlook on the capital market. It is likely that the SRG pension fund will have to lower the technical interest rate, according to the press release. Despite the red figures for 2015, SRG is optimistic about the future: it expects to be in the black in 2016. The cost-saving measures introduced will lay the foundation for a balanced result in the coming years, writes SRG. (SDA)

The new Swiss Post website wins the title "Master of Swiss Web 2016" and is thus the deserved overall winner of the 16th Best of Swiss Web Award Night. Two Swiss Digital Transformation Awards

The "Swiss Digital Transformation Award" was presented for the second time at the "Best of Swiss Web" award night to companies that have made particular progress in digital maturity in recent months. The basis for determining the winners was, on the one hand, the self-declaration of the total of around 400 participating companies in the "Digital Maturity Check", the maturity model developed by the University of St. Gallen and a group of experts; on the other hand, the multi-stage in-depth analysis of a jury of experts. Nine companies ultimately succeeded in on the shortlisttwo of which received the winner's prize.

Medela is expanding its qualitative relationships with customers as part of a long-term digital transformation supported by the Board of Directors and the Management Board. The company is also simplifying and standardizing its B2B and B2C sales processes on a central platform. In view of the customer-centric and globally oriented consistent transformation, the jury awards the medium-sized company Medela the "Swiss Digital Transformation Award".

This award also goes to a major corporation: Swiss Post. The company has made significant progress in the area of digital transformation in recent months. This applies to new and innovative solutions at various interfaces to the end customer, such as the new Twint payment system, the new online portal or the autonomous PostBus shuttles, as well as to the Group's internal digitization, such as equipping 20,000 "postmen" with mobile Android devices. Salt loses ground after change of ownership

Following its sale to French telecoms entrepreneur Xavier Niel for 2.8 billion francs, Salt has lost ground. Sales and operating profit of Switzerland's third-largest mobile operator shrank noticeably last year.

Sales decreased by 2.4 percent to CHF 1.285 billion. Adjusted operating profit before depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) declined by 4.9 percent to CHF 412.5 million. Salt excludes costs for restructuring and the name change from adjusted EBITDA. Following the sale, the mobile operator had renamed itself from Orange to Salt on April 23, which cost several tens of millions of francs. With these costs, unadjusted EBITDA is likely to have fallen even more. Salt does not disclose this figure, nor does it disclose the bottom-line result. In the first half of 2015, parent company Matterhorn Telecom Holdings posted a net loss of just under CHF 90 million here, following a small loss of CHF 1.1 million in 2014.

Management exodus

Salt has had an eventful year: Following the change of ownership, there was an exodus in top management in the summer. Four out of seven top managers left the company. Among them were Chief Technology Officer Johan Hall, Chief Commercial Officer Matthias Hilpert, Chief Customer Service Officer Tonio Meier and Chief Financial Officer Yann Leca. In November, human resources manager Amelia Raess also left. Finally, in December, Salt CEO Johan Andsjö threw in the towel and left the company with immediate effect. He was succeeded by the former head of Google Switzerland, Andreas Schönenberger, in mid-March 2016.

Harsh criticism

The new management team was harshly critical of the old management: The turnaround at Salt had been impaired by fierce competition and previous management mistakes, the mobile operator announced in a communiqué on Thursday. It said the revenue decline was primarily due to lower average monthly revenue per customer and the loss of customers. The total number of customers fell by 6.6 percent to 2.024 million. Prepaid customers in particular migrated away. The number of more lucrative subscription customers decreased by only 0.4 percent. The decline in adjusted operating profit was the result of high bad debt losses due to a failed IT changeover in 2014. In addition, Salt had insufficiently checked the creditworthiness of new customers. The mobile operator had sent thousands of customers incorrect bills in 2014 due to IT problems. As a result, the company had to be generous with discounts or when customers paid late. This had a knock-on effect on profits.

Job cuts

To counteract this, Salt put the brakes on costs and cut jobs. The number of full-time positions fell by 60 to 833 at the end of December 2015. The job cuts continued in the current year. Salt does not disclose figures on this. "While employees left in the back office and support areas, mainly as part of a volunteer program, new positions were created, particularly in the network area," Salt said Thursday: "The main part of the restructuring of Salt Mobile SA is largely complete." Salt had reintegrated core functions such as network and IT into the company last year. Previously, IT had been outsourced to Finnish service provider Qvantel, network rollout to Nokia Siemens and network operations to Ericsson.

Complete restructuring

The complete restructuring of Salt is also becoming increasingly visible to the outside world, the statement added. The new boss Schönenberger and the new management team would focus on profitable growth and efficient cooperation across business units. Silo thinking should no longer occur. In addition, a new product portfolio with five subscription price plans has been launched. These had a positive impact on the number of new contracts as of fall 2015, Salt announced. In addition, investments in direct and online sales have been stepped up, while only the most profitable indirect sales partnerships will be continued. And marketing will now be run internally with a smaller team. There would be no more outsourcing. A piquant detail on the side: When Salt refinanced its debts in April, 150 million flowed to the new owner Niel. (SDA)

Best Swiss photographers in editorial and reportage awarded

Niels Ackermann in Reportage and Beat Schweizer in Editorial are the winners of the "Swiss Photo Award - The Selection". This was announced by the international jury on Thursday in the Photobastei.

The two winners will each win prize money of 5,000 Swiss francs. Their work and the six other best works in each category will be on display in Zurich until April 24.

After a three-stage judging process with a record number of entries, it was clear to the jurors: Niels Ackermann from Conches won in the Reportage category with his work White Angel, a sensitive and atmospheric portrait story of a young woman in Slavutych, the town that emerged after the reactor disaster in Chernobyl.

The Swiss Photo Award in a new look

The Swiss Photo Award is one of the most prestigious and, with a total prize money of 30'000 Swiss francs, most highly endowed photography prizes in Switzerland. It showcases the full range of Swiss photography in advertising, fashion, editorial, reportage and art. For 18 years, it has annually selected the best works based on their high level of craftsmanship and artistry. Werbewoche is media partner of the award in the category "Advertising".

Unbenannt-8

This year the award will take place for the first time in the Photobastei and reinvents itself. The awards will be presented in three stages and embedded in Professional Weeks. They transform the entire Photobastei into a house of reportage in April, art photography in June and fashion photography in September.

Weber Harbeke Partners becomes Fastr

Weber Harbeke Partners is now known as Fastr. The name change reflects the expansion of the agency’s service offerings and its transformation into a strong full-service agency. The rebranding coincides with a generational shift within the agency.

The Zurich-based advertising agency with clients such as Migros, Subway, PSP Swiss Properties, Jeep or Alfa Romeo has intensively expanded its digital offering over the past three years without neglecting its strong DNA in idea-driven brand building. During this time, Max Weber and Thomas Harbeke left the company and finally handed over the reins to the next generation. The former partners and new owners Sven Oeschger and Guido Zehnder took this as an opportunity to give the agency a new, fitting appearance.

fastr_logo_cinama-format
The missing vowel should make the name all the more memorable.

"We offer our clients contemporary solutions as an agile and fine communications agency. We are small and agile, but at the same time very experienced and secure, the Zodiac in the agency landscape, so to speak. We increase the degree of specialization by cooperating with best-in-class suppliers," says Sven Oeschger. With the change to a contemporary full-service communications agency, a new identity is the logical consequence. Fastr thus crowns this process and expresses the competitive attitude of wanting to win the race, Oeschger continues.

fastr_gepard_cinama-format
The cheetah as a design element stands for maximum efficiency.

"Only the fast will survive in today's environment. The art is to be 'fast' and at the same time keep the level of quality high. That's why we chose a cheetah as the visual design element: The fastest hunter is forced to use his resources extremely efficiently to reach his goal. We have internalized this attitude: listen, plan and go," says Guido Zehnder.

Schwindl Schär animates Swissgrid

Swissgrid's 2015 annual report has been published. The Basel-based advertising agency Schwindl Schär has created an online visualization of selected stakeholder relationships for the Swiss grid operator.

This has created worlds that can be discovered in a playful way and provide a lot of insight into the work of Swissgrid.

01-SchwindlSchaer-Swissgrid-Jahresbericht15-Startseite

Who is Swissgrid? Who is involved with Swissgrid? Answers to these questions can be found in the Annual report 2015. In three issues - the first of which was published in 2014 - the grid company is brought closer to the public. The current annual report focuses on Swissgrid's stakeholder relationships. They are portrayed on the microsite in an innovative and appealing way. The Basel-based advertising agency Schwindl Schär has now conceived, designed and implemented the second edition after 2014.

02-SchwindlSchaer-Swissgrid-Jahresbericht15-NantdeDrance

SBB as the only direct customer relationship, ETH Zurich as an innovation partner, WWF as an important reference in sustainability management, Nant de Drance as a prominent example of grid expansion and AET as an important contact in Ticino - they are all important for Swissgrid. That is why they are presented in the 2015 Annual Report as examples - with quotes on cooperation, key figures and texts on cooperation with Swissgrid.

03-SchwindlSchaer-Swissgrid-Jahresbericht15-SBB

The innovation lies in the implementation: films were made as background graphics for each stakeholder, which are only recognizable as such at second glance. When scrolling, a world portraying the stakeholder is drawn above the films. The implementation encourages playful discovery and is fun to use - this also applies to the other areas. The annual review and a review of the year in figures also feature many animated elements that make the visit an experience.

Brandpulse: Unified customer experience for the Generali Group Switzerland

On behalf of the Generali Group Switzerland, Brandpulse designed and implemented the appearance of all 64 agencies according to the new global corporate design specifications.

In order to upgrade the customer areas of the existing agencies and create a consistent customer experience, Brandpulse was commissioned by Generali to analyze the appearance of all 64 locations in Switzerland. Based on this comprehensive location analysis, a standardized catalog of measures was developed on the basis of the defined corporate design. The individual planning and implementation support for the partially different premises included, in addition to the entrance and waiting areas, above all the reception and the meeting rooms for customer discussions. At some agencies, the display window areas and identification elements were also redesigned.
