SRF: Hanspeter Forster presents "Classe Politique"

Hanspeter Forster is the new host of the program «Classe Politique,» broadcast from the Federal Palace. He succeeds Urs Leuthard, the new head of the Tagesschau newsroom.

Hanspeter Forster will host the four times a year political program on the session for the first time on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, according to a statement from SRF. Forster has been working for Swiss television since 1995, first as editor of "Tagesschau" and since 1999 as editor and correspondent for the Swiss parliament. Prior to this, he worked for the "Basler Volksblatt" and as editorial manager at Telebasel, among others. In addition to his role as a presenter on "Classe Politique", the 55-year-old will continue to work as an editor for the Swiss parliament.

Hanspeter Forster: "Stimulating controversial debates appeals to me, as does bringing the events in the Federal Parliament closer to the viewers - in a profound, exciting and, from case to case, tongue-in-cheek way."

Tristan Brenn, Deputy Editor-in-Chief: "I am delighted. Hanspeter Forster has been known to 'Tagesschau' and '10vor10' audiences for years for his trenchant and precise analyses from the Federal Parliament. Now he will have his own program, where his expertise and personality will be even more evident."

Heads: Performance realized for Martin Foundation

From tomorrow Friday, the Martin Foundation in Erlenbach will have a new look. Heads developed the foundation's logo with the active help of the foundation's residents.

Heads also found a suitable short form for the institution: "Different with a view". The new claim is intended to confidently convey "being different". And by view, we don't just mean the breathtaking view of Lake Zurich that can be enjoyed in Erlenbach, but also the good future prospects offered to the residents.

The Institution provides 137 adults with intellectual disabilities with differentiated forms of living and working. The new look comes just in time for the Martin Foundation's traditional spring market, which takes place on May 4 and 5.

Responsible at Martin Stiftung: Jürg Hofer, Cinzia Sartorio. Responsible at Heads Corporate Communication: Marco Simonetti (CD), Pablo Burkhalter (graphics), Ralph Hermann, Kristina Brunner (consulting).

SRG back in the black

SRG is back in the black after five years. In 2011, it achieved a surplus of 25.75 million francs on a turnover of over 1.6 billion francs.

Cost-cutting measures, efficiency projects and good advertising revenues have helped to eliminate the long-standing deficit, SRG wrote in a press release on Thursday. Thanks to the merger of radio and television in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland, synergies are being better utilized.

Fee income was slightly above budget, according to the statement. Thanks to the robust economy, advertising income rose more strongly (+14.4 million francs). Extraordinary effects had a partly positive and partly negative impact on the annual financial statements of the parent company (excluding subsidiaries): Because Billag no longer collects fees on a quarterly basis but issues annual statements, accruals and deferrals amounting to CHF 17.9 million were reversed. The decision to relocate the SRF culture site in Basel to the city center resulted in one-off write-downs of CHF 16.5 million.

Investment in in-house productions

In the face of increasingly fierce competition, SRG invested more money (saved elsewhere) in programming: in-house productions increased from 19.9% to 21.6% of the broadcasting volume of television and radio. SRG's mandate from its concession is to contribute to the identity of our nation of will with productions from Switzerland for Switzerland. With high additional expenditure of CHF 31.7 million - because competitive Swiss productions are much more expensive than purchases on the international market - SRG has made efforts to better fulfill its mandate.

The fact that there were no World or European Championships in expensive sports or Olympic Games in 2011 had a cost-reducing effect. Thanks to the avoidance of exchange rate losses on the euro and dollar, the financial result recovered, improving by CHF 7.8 million compared to the previous year. Despite the expected slowdown in the economy and cost-intensive reporting on the European Football Championships and the Summer Olympics in London, the non-profit SRG is sticking to its goal of achieving a balanced result in 2012.

The Annual Report (annual report and accounts) will be submitted to the SRG Delegates' Meeting on May 24, 2012 for approval. In the digital age and for reasons of economy, the Annual Report will only be available online for the first time. From May 28, the annual report can be downloaded at Srgssr.ch can be viewed.

P.S. before the end - appeal for donations launched

The left-wing Zurich newspaper P.S. is on the brink of closure: The small political and cultural publication only has enough funds to last until the end of June. If it does not raise 100,000 francs by then, the newspaper will not survive the summer and will be shut down.

With a full-page appeal for donations published on Thursday in the P.S. the editorial team is trying to find the missing money. The paper has been in the red for years. Although the deficit of 50,000 francs per year is relatively small, it could never be covered in the long term.

However, for the editorial team, the sole owners of the newspaper, it is out of the question "to continue for a few more months and then leave a lot of unpaid bills behind". The decision to appeal for donations was made because there was no further potential for savings.

The print shop in Schaffhausen is already inexpensive and Swiss Post's rates are not negotiable. The wage costs for the 3.5 jobs could also not be reduced if the paper was to continue to be written professionally. The only way out was therefore the readers.

The paper is primarily read by sympathizers and members of the SP and the Greens. P.S. has a total of 1,600 paying subscribers and is published once a week. The main advertiser is the SP, which last year spent 30,000 francs on advertising, which corresponds to a quarter of the advertising revenue.

Not the first appeal for donations

This is not the first time that the newspaper P.S. has drawn attention to its poor financial situation. Before the current appeal for donations, publisher Koni Loepfe, former SP president of the city of Zurich, had already decided to take this measure several times.

In 2004, the appeal for donations appeared under the title "Dörfs es bitzeli meh si?". At that time, 50,000 francs were raised within a few weeks, making it possible to continue. (SDA)

"DasTram." launches streetcar patronage

The newly founded company "DasTram." introduces the streetcar patronage, where the focus is not on the sales message but on the ride experience.

The streetcar patronage opens up public transport in Zurich to companies that want to communicate more quietly and discreetly and give something back to the city, according to a press release issued on Thursday. According to estimates, we encounter between 3,000 and 15,000 advertising messages, brand names and logos every day. On a normal streetcar, between 70 and 200 logos vie for our attention.

The streetcar patronage takes a different approach and allows companies to stand out through discretion and reduction. The focus is not on the sales message, but on the driving experience. The supported streetcar discreetly refers to the patronage company both inside and outside. No third-party logos are displayed. The windows would remain clear so that the city could show itself from its best side.

"TheTram." is run by Christian Hänggi and Michael Stebler. It works in consultation with VBZ Traffic Media and offers patronage from CHF 38,000 for six months. It costs CHF 91,000 to have a Cobra-Tram gondola through the streets of the city on the Limmat for a year.

Comprehensive relaunch for Observer Nature

On May 4, 2012, *Beobachter Natur* will debut its new look and layout. Going forward, the magazine—which was launched two years ago—aims to present itself as «even more distinctive, with a stronger profile and engaging magazine journalism.».

The May issue of the magazine will not only feature innovations in terms of content, but also some visual innovations, writes Axel Springer Switzerland in a press release on Wednesday. The new claim is intended to get to the heart of the new features: Beobachter Natur is "the surprising environmental and knowledge magazine" in Switzerland.

"According to market research results, Beobachter Natur is experiencing above-average growth among the female, urban-modern readership aged between 30 and 59. We want to focus even more strongly on this target group in future," says Peter Ackermann, the new editorial director since September 2011. More independence, more profile - that also means more distinctiveness. "We are and will remain a magazine about nature, the environment and knowledge. But we are setting new, more feminine accents: Beobachter Natur will focus more strongly than before on women-oriented topics with psychological, social science and everyday references," says Ackermann.

The more emotional approach to the content is reflected in the rejuvenated appearance, implemented by Art Director Michael Adams, it continues. The fresh cover in particular, which emphasizes the new value, surprises with more (play) space and a more generous, modern aesthetic. And this design principle is also continued on the inside, be it in the use of typography or in the dramaturgy of the magazine.

In terms of content, the magazine aims to offer more practical value, make for enjoyable reading and always provide food for thought and discussion - with in-depth monothematic focuses, reports, portraits and interviews, columns and essays.

The first issue of Beobachter after the relaunch will be published on May 4, 2012.

SFLB: The Floralp hamster is on the way

The SFLB agency has created two new ad campaigns for Floralp: After hedgehogs, rabbits, and Gritibänzen had already fallen for the Swiss premium butter, a hamster has now also discovered its love for Floralp.

The fact that the hamster can't get enough of the preferred butter is dramatized with two subjects. While the little doughy creature proudly presents the butter to Switzerland in the first motif, he then can't help himself. The new poster designs are now on display in German- and French-speaking Switzerland.

Responsible at Floralp: Peter Ryser (Managing Director BO Butter), Martin Rüst (Head of Advertising + Media SMP), Angela Perniola (Project Manager Floralp SMP). Responsible at Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett: Oli Kreienbühl (AD), Reto Vogler (text), Patrick Suter (CD), Peter Brönnimann (ECD), Pam Hügli, Fabienne Schobert, Fabian Schiltknecht (consulting), Suzana Kovacevic (art buying).
