APG|SGA: Historical posters under the sign of the sports year 2012

The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich and APG|SGA work closely together and present monthly changing virtual exhibitions of historical posters at Apgsga.ch/emuseum. The year 2012 is dedicated to sports.

Every month, the eMuseum on the APG|SGA website publishes new subjects from the extensive poster collection of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich. The focus of the month of May is on summer sports such as swimming, hiking, and sailing. June is dedicated to football, and July shows the Olympic tradition. The choice of the annual theme fell on sports because many important sporting events such as the Olympic Games in London or the European Football Championships in Poland and Ukraine are taking place in 2012, according to a statement by APG|SGA. The historical posters from the museum's archive illustrate how early sport and health became a central theme of industrialized society and thus of advertising.

Poster history archive
The poster collection of the Museum für Gestaltung is one of the most extensive and important archives of its kind in the world. Over 330,000 objects bear witness to Swiss and international poster history - from its beginnings in the mid-19th century to the present day. The collection includes political, cultural and commercial posters. Its diversity in historical, thematic and geographical terms enables both a tour d'horizon of poster art and a look into a visual archive of the everyday world.

Valser choose a Juzer for their Valser mineral water

Following Saturday's municipal elections, the residents of Vals voted for a second time: At the invitation of Valser Mineralquellen, the residents of Vals selected the future theme song for the new brand identity of Valser Mineral Water.

Three interpretations of the Swiss music artist Christian Zehnder were put to the vote. The winning jingle, which garnered the most votes, is a mixture of expressive sounds and jokes that also aims to appeal to a younger, life-thirsty generation, according to a statement from the media office. The event is the prelude to the new market presence of Valser Mineralwasser. This will be seen - and heard - throughout Switzerland from August 1, 2012.

In collaboration with the Swiss musician Christian Zehnder, three non-verbal brand elements (jingles) were created, musical recognition melodies, which are intended to emotionally express the connection with one's own source, inner strength, serenity and power as well as the affiliation to Switzerland. The powerful, non-verbal, contemporary sounds have their centuries-old origins with the alpine dairymen and mountain farmers and thus also fit the identity of the vast Vals mountain landscape and its sources. The Juz or yodel, modernly transposed by Christian Zehnder, comes from very deep and goes to the highest heights, the message continues. It is a direct, unmistakable expression of people's joie de vivre, and is intended to appeal in particular to a younger generation with a thirst for life.

Net-Metrix Profiles 2012-1: Website pools increasingly popular in Switzerland

The latest Net-Metrix-Profile 2012-1 study makes it clear: Swiss websites are increasingly forming networks to reach a wider audience and improve their marketing efforts.

"Our latest reach figures show a clear trend towards the establishment of website pools and thus the joint marketing of online offers," explains Kathrin Kissau, project manager at the internet research organization Net-Metrix. With 14 published network ranges, more than a third of all websites participating in the study have joined together to form such pools for the first time. Networks can achieve high net reach compared to individual websites, especially if there is a low user overlap between the individual offerings.

The networks with the widest reach in the latest Net-Metrix-Profile 2012-1 study, with over two million users per month, are the Swiss Services Network and the SRG Network.

Last but not least: In conversation with a book

What do a streetwalker, a Catholic priest, an illiterate person, and an investment banker have in common? They’ll all be featured in a book on Saturday, May 12.

The transformation will take place between 1 and 9 pm at the Pestalozzi branch in Niederdorf, at the Living Library. The event is a cooperation project with the Pestalozzi libraries. Visitors will be able to borrow the protagonists (including a shop window prostitute, a Catholic priest, an illegal immigrant and an investment banker) like books in order to talk to them. The people who make themselves available belong to different groups of people in the city of Zurich who are often confronted with stereotypes or prejudices. Living Library events are thus characterized by tolerance and personally imparted knowledge.
