Radio Blind Power with new management

Radio Blind Power will have a new managing director starting June 1, 2012. Marc Fehlmann is handing over the reins of the integration radio station to 23-year-old Dominik Hofstetter from Bern.

Marc Fehlmann is handing over the management of Radio Blind Power after two years at his own request so that he can invest more resources in the business he has built up over the past few years. The 37-year-old has worked for the integration radio station for five years, including as Managing Director since May 2010, during which time he was responsible for the realization of the new studio in the city of Bern and its relocation. He played a key role in the further development of Radio Blind Power into a training and integration radio station. He was also responsible for the creation of the first job at Radio Blind Power and the internships that have been created since then.

From June 1, 2012, 23-year-old Dominik Hofstetter (pictured) from Bern will take over the management of the radio station. Hofstetter completed a basic commercial apprenticeship and has since worked for the Federal Administration. As a student of business administration and thanks to his experience as event manager at a clothing label and as founder and managing director of a management company for young artists, he has the ideal qualifications for the new role at Radio Blind Power, according to the press release.

About Radio Blind Power

Radio Blind Power, the integration radio station produced by blind, visually impaired and sighted young people and the young at heart, is committed to the integration and radio training of blind and visually impaired people in addition to radio operations. Founded in 1997 in the school for the blind, Radio Blind Power has now been in existence for 15 years, since 2006 as an independent association. It offers a 24-hour music program and several live broadcasts per week, which are produced by volunteer broadcasters.

Communication planners selected

This spring, 120 candidates from all over Switzerland—three more than last year—took the federal exam to become communication planners.

In Biel and Zurich, they took part in a total of 13 hours and 45 minutes of oral and written tests in the subjects of communication planning/integrated communication, media, production and advertising law/advertising management. Almost 70 percent of the candidates were successful. Compared to previous years, in which the rate was between 70 and 75 percent, this result is slightly below average. The best result with a final grade of 5.2 was achieved by Anja Speer from Zurich, followed by Andrea Schmid from Schüpfheim with a grade of 5.1. Third place with a final grade of 5.0 was shared by five graduates. Among them was Florie Maugeon from Geneva, who achieved the best result in French-speaking Switzerland.

The examination is organized by SW Schweizer Werbung and its sister association Publicité Suisse PS on behalf of the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology OPET. The graduation ceremonies for the newly crowned communication planners will take place on July 5 in French-speaking Switzerland and on July 6 in Zurich.

Metzgerlehner predicts the future for Phonak

In preparation for an upcoming product launch, Phonak sent the tarot card «The Listener» to hearing care professionals on behalf of the fortune-teller Madame Esmeralda. On the fortune-teller’s website, hearing care professionals could have the future of the industry predicted for them.

In an interactive film, a fortune teller and her capricious cat Hazel cast a spell over visitors. In a language specially developed for this event - and with subtitles in 7 real languages - Madame Esmeralda proclaimed her prophecy for an auspicious future. And that she would draw another, all-important tarot card for the hearing care professional on a very specific date. This card would definitively confirm the online prophecy and reveal the whole truth about the future of the industry.

The tarot card "The Hearing Care Professional" was sent out on the launch date of Phonak's new Essential performance level. As promised, Madame Esmeralda revealed her secret and predicted a successful business year for all hearing care professionals with Essential. Last but not least: The search for the right cloud

In the future, data is to be stored on the Internet in so-called clouds. Swiss authorities are also already planning to move data to the cloud. Will «no control over our data» become the catchphrase of 2012?

The idea comes from the eGovernment steering committee, which includes Federal Councillors Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf and Johann Schneider Ammann. According to this strategy, all Swiss authorities should outsource their data - even sensitive data - to clouds. This was reported by Woz online on Thursday. Even if the digital clouds have economic and technical advantages, such as savings on storage space and software, some concerns about data protection cannot be completely dispelled: as soon as the company operating the cloud is American, it must also give the American authorities access to the data of European customers, regardless of where the cloud computer is located.

Does this take control of users' data away from them? In Germany, they said "yes" at the beginning of the year and presented the cloud with the "Big Brother Award". In their laudation, Woz said: "Sorry, dear investigative journalists, anyone who uses a Gmail account to communicate with whistleblowers is acting negligently." Because Gmail is Google's free email service. And the largest cloud providers are currently Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, IBM and Google.

Spiked: Branding - even terrible

Anne-Friederike Heinrich, freelancer for Werbewoche, on branding on the wrong side of the pain threshold.

Even if Ms. Rickli won't like it: Today we are taking a look beyond our own backyard and borders. Let's rummage through the linguistic horror cabinet of one of our northernmost neighboring countries, the North Sea island of Föhr. "Föhrien at last!", proclaim the islanders at the approaching vacation season, and I still think it's clever - the first time I read the island's catalog, slightly sipped on fine wine, in a good mood and in the mood for a vacation. But the second time I leaf through the advertising material, the claim really gets on my nerves. My eye, trimmed for clear words and correct phrasing, twitches as soon as it touches the exclamation, signaling a painful malfunction in my brain.

Wit knows no pardon

Before I can catch my breath, the Föhringers strike the next blow: "Föhr Kids", I read, and I feel as if I have fish poisoning. It's remarkable that you can not only find suggestions for a vacation with a dog, but also for a vacation with a child. But does it really have to be under this word boil? Contrary to all hope, it's still not over. Some of the islanders, who are otherwise rather reserved with words and jokes, have taken their marketing into their own hands. They dutifully continue to penetrate the snappy word juggling of their tourism association in (and for) the private chamber: they offer their "Föhrienwohnung" for sale. Oh dear! That hurts to the bone. On the other hand, this linguistic spasm makes it easier for us to choose our accommodation. Because we are definitely not renting a "Föhrienwohnung". Fortunately, no one has come up with the idea of putting together a "Föhr event calendar", urging us to "cycle" or trying to ferry us to the island on the "Föhre". Otherwise I would think again about whether we really want to spend our vacation in the Frisian Caribbean. After all, our son is currently in the hottest phase of language acquisition. Watt? On the other hand, Hans Christian Andersen's stay with the island monkeys didn't do him any harm either. You'd probably notice if the poet wasn't quite linguistically fluent.

Swimming or bathing

Incidentally, the slogan of the Grandcasino Baden has been getting on my nerves in the same way for some time now (which brings us back to this side of the border, thank goodness, Ms. Rickli): "Baden im Glück." Of course, a copywriter once had a clever idea and turned it into a light-hearted play on words. But is it really so great that you have to advertise with it for six years? Or was the little idea so expensive? Even Anouk Manser can't hide the fact that the happiness claim is long dead. So how about a new slogan so that the Grandcasino doesn't go under soon in terms of advertising? For example, suitable for the bathing season: "Bathing is wonderful." This slogan could also be exploited in a sexist way. Manser in a bikini is certainly not unappetizing either. But then, of course, someone has to pay the price again ...
