Notch Interactive: Denner Online Promotion

For its new client Denner, Notch Interactive—building on the poster concept by Vizner Borel—has designed an online promotion. In «Potzblitz,» users have the chance to make their eyes pop and win prizes.

Denner's price-performance ratio is dramatized in the new advertising campaign by means of the astonished, wide-eyed (Werbewoche.ch reported). Notch Interactive takes this aspect for the Online promotion again. For example, Denner customers can take self-portraits via webcam, enlarge their eyes, write their own texts and thus create personal posters. The posters can be rated in a gallery by all users. Among the submissions with the most votes from the public voting, the main prize will be drawn. The online promotion will be teased on the current poster campaign. It will also be advertised and publicized with Facebook ads, web banners and in the Denner Week.

Responsible at Denner: Petra Gayko (Head of Marketing Communications, overall responsibility), Sabine Gassmann, (Project Manager Marketing Communications). Responsible at Notch Interactive: Peter van der Touw (overall responsibility), Martin Pfeiffer (conception, producing), Jeff Gerber (creative direction), Marco Klein (art direction), David Elmiger (conception, text), Angela Erni (design), Vera Weber (consulting), Tobias Fuhlroth (technical direction), Lukas Bünger (application programming), Matthias Meier (frontend programming).

Zurich Journalism Prize: Send in texts now

The call for entries for the 2013 Zurich Journalism Award, which features a significant change, is now open. Under the new rules, the quality of the submitted text will be the sole determining factor, rather than the medium in which it appears.

Submissions of articles that have also or only been published in electronic form are therefore expressly welcome. Three prizes of 10,000 Swiss francs each will be awarded, as well as a prize for the complete work, as proposed by the jury and the foundation board.

In its new call for entries, the Zurich Journalism Prize is taking account of the rapidly changing environment and abolishing the categories that are no longer up to date, according to a statement. Whether print or online, it is not the type of medium or publication that should decide, but only the quality of the submitted text. Submissions of articles that have also or only been published in electronic form are therefore expressly welcome. Three new prizes will be awarded, each worth 10,000 Swiss francs. The jury and the foundation board can also propose prize winners who will be honored for their overall work. This prize is also endowed with 10,000 Swiss francs.

Texts from 2012 can now be sent in. The whole range of journalistic forms is welcome: Reportages, reports, features, portraits, investigative stories and glosses. The texts should either have been published in a medium published in the cantons of Zurich and Schaffhausen or the author should have a connection to these cantons (place of residence or work). The closing date for entries is January 15, 2013.

Last but not least: Naked tare instead of fur

The Hamburg-based agency Grimm Gallun Holtappels is helping the animal welfare organization Vier Pfoten raise awareness about the unspeakable practice of real-fur fashion. Let’s head to the virtual nude parade.

Wearing fur used to be a matter of conscience - today it symbolizes people who are unable or unwilling to inform themselves in the information age. Young people imagine grumpy grandmothers with dusty mink coats. Pictures of Chinese farms and markets seem so surreal that it is best not to look at them at all. This certainly has nothing to do with the fluffy trim on your own jacket.

To ensure that the topic is not completely forgotten, the Hamburg agency Grimm Gallun Holtappels in cooperation with Vier Pfoten Online campaign launched. Users create an individual avatar that participates naked in a virtual protest parade. In addition to the usual attempts at enlightenment, this turns out to be quite amusing. After all, men alone have 20 variations of primary sexual organs to choose from. Women too, by the way. And 27 noses. Those who spread their own "Nacketar" particularly diligently will win extras such as beer glasses, whips or motorcycle helmets. The parade is growing at a rapid pace, with 473 people currently taking part. Pardon, 478. Even the agency founders Grimm, Gallun and Holtappels didn't miss the opportunity to take their virtual clothes off for a good cause, as the first picture shows. Maybe it will help this time. And the campaign should certainly be more credible than the supermodels who stripped off in the 90s only to take part in fur fashion shows again shortly afterwards. (hae)

Strike against job cuts at El Pais

In protest against massive austerity measures, journalists at the Spanish newspaper El País went on strike on Tuesday. With this three-day strike, the editorial staff of one of the country’s most widely read newspapers is opposing planned staff cuts.

The paper, which belongs to the Prisa media group, was founded in 1976 and is considered an icon of democratic change after the end of the Franco era. Like other papers, the newspaper is suffering from the profound economic crisis in
Spain.

Advertisers are dropping out during the recession. Last week, the paper announced that it was in the red for the first time this year. The Prisa media group has already made a loss of 31 million euros between January and September. The cost-cutting plans at El Pais include the reduction of 139 of the 460 jobs. Prisa boss Juan Luis Cebrian had caused outrage among the workforce with the comment that employees over the age of 50 no longer fit the newspaper's profile. (SDA)

TCS: Playmobil campaign has worked

Three months after the start of the school year, the TCS campaign has been a success. The vast majority of Swiss people are familiar with the campaign, find the message clear and informative, and follow the principle: «Stop before it happens—don’t just slow down!».

On August 8, 2012, the road safety campaign "The way to school - stop before'it bangs" was launched. It appealed to road users to stop completely as soon as children want to cross a pedestrian crossing. Three months later, the first successes can already be measured, according to an independent survey conducted by Demoscope and Comtest in October at the request of the Road Safety Fund (FVS).

Around 13'000 posters, 3'400 banderoles, 2'700 magnetic stickers and 90'000 notepads distributed ensured broad awareness of the campaign. The launch also generated exceptionally large media coverage and underscored the importance of back-to-school safety.

A clear message

According to the Demoscope study, 87 percent of respondents are familiar with the TCS campaign. 86 percent said they remembered the slogan "Stop before'it goes bang" well. 96 percent of respondents understood that the message was aimed at motorists. In addition, more than 70 percent of the population also grasped the content of the message: You have to stop to avoid a collision. The goal of the campaign was therefore achieved.

Playmobil protects the children

The campaign TV spot with the girl on her way to school in a Playmobil world recorded more than 330 airings and over 10'000 views on YouTube. By linking the toy world and accidents on the way to school, the TV spot and the posters gained great attention. The survey also shows that the figure of the crossing guard embodies the safety of children on the way to school and is therefore highly appreciated. The motorists surveyed also had the impression that it was not the Playmobil figure but the children themselves who conveyed the message. (SDA)
