Swiss online media reach 5 million people per month
The «Online Content Audience Data» collected on behalf of the Mediapulse Foundation show that, in the first half of 2023, the online media outlets participating in the study reached five million people each month. This corresponds to a monthly reach of 60 percent.
Twice a year, Mediapulse summarizes the online research data and publishes it as part of a semester report. These include aggregated observations and allow an overall view of the use of the websites and apps participating in the study.
In addition to a semester trend for the overall Swiss market, data on the structure of the user base, corresponding daily trends, and rankings for the individual brands and networks are also provided. The survey relates to people aged three and over who live in Switzerland.
On a monthly average, around five million users visited the online platforms surveyed, which corresponds to 60 percent of the population. Half of the population visited one of the surveyed platforms at least once a week. Thus, the participating online media reached an average of 4.1 million users per week, which corresponds to a net reach of 49 percent.
Daily measurement down to hourly level
Online Content Audience Data" provides detailed information for online brands, such as structural characteristics or usage patterns at the hourly level. In addition, daily data enables analyses of specific events. This shows that online media accompanied users throughout the day. On weekdays, they visited the corresponding websites and apps mainly in the early morning at 7 a.m., at noon and in the evening from 5 to 10 p.m.. On weekends, usage was evenly distributed throughout the day.
The data collected by Mediapulse offers the possibility to quantify the traffic and the user base of the participating websites and apps (91 brands and 210 assets) and to structure them according to content, technical and personal characteristics. Agencies have full access to the data and publishers are now allowed to publish third-party data, but only in comparison with the presentation of their own offering.
The online content data also forms the basis for the intermedia Wemf media study "MACH Total Audience. For media brands, it combines their readership of the printed edition with the user base of the associated online offerings.
