Ruf Lanz and the VBZ get new subjects rolling

VBZ is highlighting the benefits of public transportation in Zurich with three eye-catching new designs by Ruf Lanz.

In the fall of 2001, VBZ and the creative agency Ruf Lanz set the course for the VBZ campaign "Umsteigen lohnt sich" ("It pays to change"), which positions streetcars and buses as a smart alternative to cars in the city of Zurich. "The campaign still has many supporters among the population today; some even order the motifs for private use," explains Elina Fleischmann, Head of Newsroom and Co-Head of Corporate Communications a.i. at VBZ.

The VBZ campaign has also received numerous awards, including two Evergreen Awards from the Art Directors Club Switzerland for its creative consistency. Creative Director Markus Ruf explains the success as follows: "The VBZ campaign is a single-motif campaign. This is a rather masochistic form of campaign, because you need a new idea for every subject. But this keeps the campaign in tune with the times and constantly renewing itself."

The three most recent subjects showcase the various advantages of public transport: streetcars and buses get you through the dense city traffic faster than any car, are easy on your nerves and protect the environment...

... and finally, you also save money on the household budget. No wonder, in many Zurich families only the children still own a car.

The current motifs appear on advertisements in 20 Minuten, on posters in all VBZ Züri-Linie vehicles and on VBZ's social channels.
