The Mandate of the People as a Starting Point

The “Stadtgrün Zürich” campaign has democratic roots: In 2023, Zurich’s residents voted in favor of making Zurich greener to improve the urban climate. Grün Stadt Zürich is implementing this mandate in collaboration with other city departments as part of the Stadtgrün program—with the goal of making the city cooler and more livable by 2035. The boutique agency Rosarot took on the task of translating the complex measures involved into understandable messages.

A Communication Strategy with a Clear Focus

The core message of the “Stadtgrün Zürich” campaign is what the program specifically offers the residents of Zurich. The campaign’s design follows the City of Zurich’s approachable and eye-catching illustration style. All measures are based on a communication and media strategy developed by Rosarot. Social media assets on Meta, YouTube, and LinkedIn—supported by a search campaign—show what is being done to reduce heat, improve the urban climate, and promote biodiversity.

A mobile exhibition booth brings Zurich's urban green spaces to life

At the heart of the campaign is a mobile, informative exhibition booth that brings the idea to life. With a large-format sheet on the roof serving as an eye-catcher and shade provider, visitors can directly experience heat reduction. According to the press release, this turns information into an experience—and makes an urban program even more tangibly effective.
