Children's nightmare: broccoli versus opera

McCann Sweden and the Folkoperan Opera House gave children a choice: eat broccoli or go to the opera.

Kinder-Albtraum

In February, the Stockholm Opera House performed the opera "Coraline" for children. But when you directly suggest children go to the opera, you probably usually only get one reaction:

Kinder-Albtraum

Spending an evening in a long opera is not imagined by most children to be fun or exciting. Nevertheless, Folkoperan has managed to get hundreds of children to go to the opera out of self-motivation. That's because the opera house has acquired a powerful ally that is even more terrifying to children. Broccoli.

Broccoli-vs.-Opera-0-36

Instead of conventional flyers, boxes full of broccoli were distributed to parents with the order that they let their offspring decide between the green cruciferous vegetable and the opera. For most of the children, the case was clear - and the opera was not so bad after all.

The Ex: The "best friend's" best friend

The true value of a friendship only becomes apparent when the really good treats are brought out.

Publicis New York shows for Del Monte Foods that their "Pup-Peroni" treats are potential friendship killers. Because as soon as the dog owner's ex comes running along with a pack, the "faithful companion" changes sides straight away. A really left number. It's just as well that the owner can buy them. And he plays it safe with a whole truckload of Pup-Peronis.

And daily greets the Jeep Rubicon

Bill Murray makes his commercial debut and teams up with Highdive Chicago to show how a Jeep can turn an endless time warp into a true blessing.

On Sunday, "Groundhog Day" was celebrated in various parts of Canada and the USA. If the groundhog comes out of its burrow on this day, casting no shadow, spring is near.

In the 1993 film of the same name, the protagonist - played by Bill Murray - is doomed to relive the same day over and over again. Now, some 17 years later, he finds himself visibly distraught in the same situation.

But this time something is different. A Jeep Rubicon catches the protagonist's eye, whereupon he decides without further ado to seek refuge together with the groundhog in the vehicle. As a result, he begins to look forward to each new day and thus to love Groundhog Day. Because with the Rubicon, no day is the same as the next - even though it's basically always the same.

Invalid password, now go to hell

Lightning Orchard makes the overdramatized, yet understandable point that passwords and security issues can be a real pincer birth.

password

For those who have never heard of Dashlane, at the end of this TV spot, it might remain unclear at first what exactly the company wants to communicate. Nevertheless, the one-minute video will trigger an approving and sympathetic nod from one or the other.

Before the protagonist of the spot, who is rowed through the area by Death himself, is allowed to enter paradise, the obligatory password and various security questions are requested. And this is done via a portable whiteboard, which the Grim Reaper conveniently carries with him. Despite help, the increasingly desperate man is finally denied entry after several failed attempts because he has reached the limit of wrong answers. Classic.

Dashlane is supposed to remedy such situations, because the password manager collects all of a user's passwords, which allows him to keep an overview and not run the risk of being excluded from the password paradise. This is visualized by a protagonist dancing happily in the clouds. All's well that ends well.

Respect the personal space

TBWA Finland shows the connection between Finns at a bus stop and a Nissan.

TBWA

The Finns attach great importance to privacy, which makes them not so dissimilar to us Swiss in this respect. After all, many Swiss also value privacy and their personal space.

When Finns wait for the bus, the individuals in the waiting group spread out evenly at a respectable distance from each other, avoiding any interaction. Photos of such situations - taken by puzzled and amused passers-by - can be found all over the Internet, proving that this is indeed how it often goes.

Nissan and TBWA Finland were inspired by this phenomenon and relate it to the adaptive cruise control in the Nissan - because both automatically keep their distance.

How to impress a squirrel

If even the squirrel can't stop marveling, something truly spectacular must have happened. Isobel London showcases the natural power of almonds in six whimsical TV commercials.

What do a contortionist granny and a grabber crack have in common? They almonds. "Do you Almond" shows people who manage things with almost absurd ease - strengthened by the power of almonds.

The Almond Board of California, an NGO representing almond farmers and traders, has invested in a multi-year campaign and hopes to use the whimsical videos to increase demand for almonds on the British market. The videos were penned by London-based agency Isobel.

Dracula put in the right (day) light

For the launch of the mini-series "Dracula," BBC Creative put up two posters in London and Birmingham that are well worth seeing - and follow all the vampire rules.

Clever and vampire-friendly: where a few bloody stakes stick out during the day, a shadow silhouette of the vampire count is projected onto the billboard at nightfall.

And since safety is known to be paramount, a glass box with an emergency stake was set up for passersby to use in the event of a vampire invasion.

"Whoever created this billboard ad NEEDS to get a promotion," comments Youtube user Grzegorz Manelski. We agree.

Podcast Ads: Spotify tests targeted podcast advertising

Spotify unveiled a new ad technology at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. «Streaming Ad Insertion» (SAI) is designed to allow advertisers to precisely target their audiences.

Over the past year and a half, Spotify has steadily increased its involvement in the podcast sector. According to a statement, the streaming service now wants to make key data available to advertisers and podcast producers for the first time with SAI. Commercials will be selected accordingly depending on ad impressions, reach, frequency and user data, and integrated into the podcast in real time when listened to, as T3n.de writes.

To ensure data privacy, the streaming service provides advertisers with accurate, but only anonymized information about its users. Advertisers can thus benefit from even more personalized advertising and a more transparent process, which gives Spotify an advantage over other podcast apps.

According to a statement from Jay Richman, Head of Global Ads at Spotify, new targeting measurements and interactivity implemented in the new ad tool could be a big step forward for the entire industry. The ad format is said to be limited to the U.S. for the first time and will only be made available in podcasts distributed exclusively through Spotify, as the streaming service manages that content itself and can easily implement the technology there. Over time, however, the circle is to be expanded, including to external productions, provided the ad tool is successful.

According to Statista.com, the market leader in music streaming recorded around a quarter of a billion monthly active users in the third quarter of 2019, 113 million of whom have a premium account. With its new podcast technology, the Swedish streaming service aims to compete with companies such as Google and Apple.

Cell phone gone!

If you’re always glued to your smartphone, you’re missing out on life. DDB Chicago and Miller Lite are continuing their «Original Social Media» campaign and launching a limited edition. The instructions are simple: put your smartphone away and socialize.

Handy weg

The matte black limited edition is designed to encourage consumers to take a break from social media and spend more "quality time" offline with friends. The campaign uses Facebook technology that allows drink-authorized bar patrons in about 500 bars across North America to sign up via QR code. The scan triggers a 30-minute countdown that can be shared with a circle of friends. Groups who put away their smartphones for that period are eligible to enjoy one of the limited-edition beers after 30 minutes of real-life socializing.

Miller Lite Offline Can

The Continuation of the "Original Social Media" campaign is accompanied by two current TV commercials as well as social media and POS measures. The spots show how cell phone use can lead to missed opportunities and the added value of offline time with friends.

A wax Trump saves oceans

Unfortunately, it's really just the wax version and not Trump himself: The Clean Ocean Foundation and McCann Melbourne are using the U.S. president to promote an ocean-saving surf wax formula.

Trump-Wax-Ocean

US President Trump still does not really want to acknowledge that climate change is largely man-made. However, humans are responsible for CO2 emissions, which also harm the oceans, among other things.

To counteract this, the environmental organizations Clean Ocean Foundation Australia has developed a surf wax formula that can neutralize harmful acids in the oceans created by these emissions. A patent was deliberately not applied for so that as many as possible adopt this Smartwax formula as standard.

In collaboration with the McCann agency from Melbourne, the organization has therefore had surf wax produced in the form of various politicians who deny climate change and sent it to various surf wax producers. The message behind it: Don't be like the big climate change deniers, but take action.

Customer: Clean Ocean Foundation Australia. Agency: McCann Melbourne. Production: Lagoon Collective.

universal_raiffeisen_lucahänni

Raiffeisen's YoungMemberPlus package offers attractive banking services to a young target group free of charge - as well as leisure events. Universal Music & Brands Switzerland has developed a showcase concept for Raiffeisen that is designed to offer the young, music-loving target group a unique experience. On Friday, Luca Hänni performed in an intimate setting for an audience selected by Raiffeisen.

Raiffeisen used target-group-specific social media measures to draw the attention of young customers to the showcase. In addition, YoungMemberPlus customers were personally invited by various Raiffeisen banks.

Hänni's choice for the showcase was also intended to reflect the values of the Swiss bank, as the Swiss pop star remains down-to-earth, likeable and accessible despite international success.

The campaign was intended to give young people who already benefit from YoungMemberPlus a present for Samichlaus Day. In addition, die-hard Hänni fans were to be made aware of the offer as potential new customers.

For Mirjam Keller, Senior Consultant Marketing at Raiffeisen and responsible for the campaign, the event was a complete success: "Universal Music managed to design a priceless experience with quite a few chicken skin moments for our YoungMemberPlus customers - and to offer a highlight with a meet and greet that the young Raiffeisen customers and music fans will remember for a long time!"

The showcase marks the beginning of a comprehensive campaign that Universal Music will continue for its branding partner Raiffeisen. Universal Music will take on the role of a 360-degree music agency, taking responsibility from conception to implementation of the event. Raiffeisen, in turn, launched the Raiffeisen Showcase, a format that brought its commitment to culture to life on Samichlaustag.

Responsible at Raiffeisen: Mirjam Keller (Consultant Marketing Senior). Responsible at Universal Music & Brands: Jérôme Häfliger (Sales & Account Manager).

E.T. returns to Elliot

Reunion at Christmas. In Sky's Christmas campaign this year, the alien E.T. returns to Earth. Henry Thomas reprises his role as the now-adult Elliot after 37 years.

In the two-minute mini-sequel, E.T. gets acquainted not only with Elliot's family, but also with the advanced technology of today.

After some time with Elliot and his family, however, E.T. begins to long for his own home, so Elliot's children take the little alien back to his ship - as Elliot himself did nearly 40 years ago - so that he can fly home again.

Sky wants to send the message of reunion at Christmas with this little revival. Sky Creative Agency SCA and Goodby Silverstein are responsible for the implementation.
