Echowerk: Sau.ch becomes main sponsor of the Zurich New Year's Eve Run

The Zurich New Year's Eve Run has a new main sponsor: Sau.ch. This partnership is expected to breathe new life into the event, which has been enlivening downtown Zurich for nearly five decades. The partnership was brokered by the Zurich-based sponsorship agency Echowerk, which has been responsible for marketing the race since 2020.

Every year, the Zurich New Year's Eve Run attracts over 20,000 participants, accompanied by thousands of spectators along the route. Despite this long history of success, the event is committed to further development. "The Zurich New Year's Eve Run not only wants to preserve tradition, but also set new trends," explains Echowerk founder Manuel Schaub. In recent years, the agency has realigned the event's sponsorship strategy and integrated both existing and new partners.

With Sau.ch as the main sponsor, the Silvesterlauf is relying on a company that has deliberately positioned itself provocatively. The platform is the further development of the webshop Socksandunderwear.ch and brings fresh impetus to the changing sporting goods market with its striking branding. The organizer is aware that the name "Sau.ch" is polarizing - but the decision for the partnership was nevertheless made explicitly.

"The Zurich New Year's Eve Run is 'the run for everyone' - from families and elite runners to ambitious amateur runners. In sau.ch, we have found a partner who is open to entertaining activities that help us to further develop the platform and at the same time show that an event rich in tradition does not stand still," says Schaub.

Alex Matt, Managing Director of Sportagon, also sees great potential in the collaboration: "The largest popular sports event in Zurich combines tradition and modernity and has developed significantly in recent years. We are convinced that our creative, humorous and not entirely serious productions will also inspire participants to break new ground - both in sport and in life."

Jung von Matt presents a piece of Switzerland for UBS

UBS is launching five new card designs, underscoring its connection to Switzerland. The accompanying launch campaign by Jung von Matt Limmat shows how the designs came to be.

Bank cards are an integral part of countless people's everyday lives. UBS offers a wide range of card solutions and wants to show with five new card designs that "A bank like Switzerland" also offers "Cards like Switzerland". The new motifs reflect the bank's identity by emphasizing its origins and its ties to its clients in Switzerland.

In spring 2024, a team of mountaineers set off on an expedition. Their destinations were the Matterhorn, the Gastlosen, Lago di Tomè, the Rhine Gorge and the Aletsch Glacier. The group's mission was to preserve the special surfaces of these symbolic places in order to immortalize the uniqueness of Switzerland on the maps. The five map designs were created from the resulting silicone imprints.

Campaign promotes the new designs

The launch of the designs will be accompanied by a nationwide campaign that will soon be seen on various platforms and channels. Jung von Matt Limmat supported UBS in the conception and realization of the campaign.

"A good idea should have relevance. It was clear from the start that it wasn't just about design," explains Christian Kies, Chief Creative Officer at Jung von Matt Limmat. "Designing a map that tells a story - based on the most typical textures of Switzerland - is hard to beat in terms of relevance. We took this idea further and used it as the basis for an integrated campaign with strong continuity across all assets."

Filming has started on the new SRF cinema co-production "A Happy Family". Filming will continue in and around Zurich and in the Raron region of Upper Valais until mid-April 2025. The family drama revolves around Niki, played by Anna Schinz, who lives with her two children in a council apartment on the outskirts of Zurich. After a fire started by her children, the child and adult protection authority takes her children away from Niki. They relocate the children to the other side of Switzerland - to a harsh and remote mountain world. Despite strict prohibitions, Niki searches for and finds her children so that she can be close to them under a false identity. In addition to the leading actress and author Anna Schinz, Michael Neuenschwander, Julia Jentsch, Bettina Stucky and Alireza Bayram will also be seen.

"A Happy Family" is a production by C-Films, known for films such as "Maloney", "Wilder" and "Platzspitzbaby", in co-production with SRF and SRG SSR. The producers responsible are Martin Joss and Peter Reichenbach. Other partners are the Zurich Film Foundation, the Zurich Film Commission, the Federal Office of Culture, Suissimage, the Valais Film Commission and Focal. The film is expected to be released in fall 2026. A broadcast date on SRF has not yet been set.

As part of SRG's Pacte de l'audiovisuel with the Swiss film industry, around two million francs flow into feature film co-productions with SRF every year. As one of the most important sponsors of Swiss-German filmmaking, SRF thus supports a wide range of films - from mainstream blockbusters to newcomer films. After their theatrical release, these films are available to a wide audience on SRF channels.

The St. Gallen-based company serves clients from all over German-speaking Switzerland and the Lake Constance region. The two founders focus on effective communication that goes beyond visibility. "Communication must reach the right people, have an impact and create trust," explains Isabel Schorer. "We support our clients in getting their messages across clearly and sustainably - whether in day-to-day business, in crisis situations, in location marketing or as part of political communication."

Maya Grollimund adds: "The increasing flood of information makes it ever more difficult for companies and institutions to get their message across. Our job is to create clarity and reach relevant target groups with precise, strategic communication."

The company focuses on the areas of expertise "Strategic Communication & Crisis Management", "Public Affairs & Political Communication", "Location Marketing & Site and Real Estate Communication" and "Corporate Communication & Stakeholder Management".

Experienced team with a strong network

The two Pace founders have many years of experience in strategic communication. Isabel Schorer has extensive expertise in public affairs, stakeholder management and location promotion, while Maya Grollimund specializes in corporate and crisis communications. "Acid": An app for the perfect espresso

The «Acid» app is designed to make brewing specialty coffee more precise, easier, and more consistent. The platform allows users to save grind settings, discover new roasts, and connect with a community of coffee lovers.

(Pictures: zVg.)

Behind "Acid" are Philipp Barth and Rafaela Kalbermatten, who have developed a digital solution from their own passion for coffee. Barth explains the motivation behind it: "For me, it was a challenge to note down the grind settings in a structured way and I often wasted coffee because I didn't have the right preset to hand." There was also a high inhibition threshold in his environment to try out new roasts - for fear of losing the painstakingly optimized grinder settings.

Kalbermatten adds: "The challenge with 'Acid' was to find the perfect balance between innovation and simplicity."

Rafaela Kalbermatten and Philipp Barth developed Acid.

Four core functions

The app starts with four main functions that bridge the gap between knowledge, experience and social exchange:

Individual grind settings for different roasts can be saved in 'My Presets'. If you switch between beans, you can always fall back on the optimum setting.

Via "Social", users can network with friends or other coffee lovers. This allows presets to be shared, compared and optimized.

New types of coffee can be discovered under "Discover". The app provides personalized recommendations and introduces roasteries with specialty coffees.

And for the "Ai Powered" function, a scan of the coffee pack is enough to obtain information on the origin, flavors and ratings from other users.

Community as a central factor

The success of "Acid" stands and falls with the users who share their experiences and presets. "The next important step is to strengthen the community," says Barth. The app is already available and can be used via Acid.me.

Contexta stages Kaya Yanar's horror in Appenzellerland

Whoever laughs loses—or do they? Kaya Yanar takes on a tricky challenge: uncovering the well-kept secret of the herb brine used in Appenzeller cheese. Contexta is responsible for producing the brand commercials.

In the new Appenzeller Käse commercials for the Swiss and German markets, comedian Kaya Yanar meets the three famous alpine herdsmen and a wall of silence. Because one thing is clear: the recipe remains a secret!

With this campaign, the Contexta agency aims to demonstrate once again that Appenzeller cheese stands for unconventional communication and combines tradition with modern entertainment. The collaboration with Kaya Yanar is a humorous masterstroke: as a German living in Switzerland, he understands both cultures perfectly and captivates audiences with his wit. «I love cheese—and puzzles! But going up against these alpine herdsmen is tougher than any stand-up show,» Yanar explains with a laugh.

The new brand campaign is complemented by two additional commercials: one featuring a magician whose hocus-pocus fails to sway the steadfast alpine herdsmen, and another that vividly brings home the cheese’s rich flavor.

The new commercials will air for the first time in Switzerland on Tuesday, March, on TV and digital platforms.

GoMagazine celebrates its 33rd issue with the theme of silence

GoMagazin is publishing its 33rd issue—and is dedicated to an often-underestimated factor for success: silence. In its latest issue, the publication by Comm-unity Creative Collective focuses on the importance of quiet for executives. Through interviews, profiles, and essays, it explores how the deliberate use of silence fosters creativity, strategic thinking, and innovation.

Published since 2017, the GoMagazine explores issues of leadership and personal development. «In a world that increasingly consists of pixels, a high-quality magazine is a status symbol. And it serves as a statement against the fast pace of life,» says Thomas Aerni, Partner & Lead Strategy at the collective.

Why is silence essential for good leadership? The current issue uses personal stories and interviews with experts to show that major innovations and far-sighted decisions usually emerge when everything around us is quiet.

Erdmannpeisker for HEKS and Lenten Campaign: Hunger eats the future

After Erdmannpeisker successfully retained the HEKS communications account for another three years, the Biel-based agency is launching a new phase of the ecumenical campaign.

The development organizations HEKS, Fastenaktion and "Partner sein" have been running the ecumenical campaign for over 50 years, which draws attention to social injustice throughout Switzerland in the six weeks before Easter.

As part of a national pitch, Erdmannpeisker defended the mandate for communication over the next three years. The new campaign cycle is under the communication umbrella "Right to land and food" and highlights the causes and consequences of hunger.

2025 focuses on the effects of hunger. Under the headline "Hunger is eating the future", the focus is not on combating the acute hunger crisis in the short term. Instead, the focus is on the long-term effects of malnutrition and hunger.

The campaign works with a surprising break in the narrative: the commercial begins as a success story with an authentic interview with a young and successful doctor from Dakar who has fulfilled her life's dream. In the middle of the interview, a piece of the film image is suddenly bitten off and the campaign slogan appears. The visual shock moment sticks and stages the main message in a surprisingly dramatic way.
