Charlie Hebdo editorial team makes first appearance since attack

For the first time since the attack on the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo nearly five years ago, the editorial staff has appeared in public again. Editor-in-Chief Riss said Saturday at a panel discussion organized by the World Forum for Democracy at the Strasbourg Opera House that the newspaper had «regained its vitality and dynamism.».

Beforehand, the paper's staff had been welcomed by the audience to great applause and shouts of bravo. The editorial team used the appearance to do what they do best: score points with biting humor.

For example, a drawing by Philippe Vuillemin showed a ringmaster inscribed with the words "And for the first time in a play, the editorial office of 'Charlie Hebdo' in Strasbourg!"

Three discussion panels addressed topics such as "Censorship and Threats" and the 50th anniversary of the founding of Charlie Hebdo in the coming year. Riss had told the AFP news agency before the event that satire was still a "struggle." "Humor is suspect to many people," he said.

January 7 marks the fifth anniversary of the Islamist attack on Charlie Hebdo, in which twelve people were killed - including some of France's best-known cartoonists.

The appearance of the editors and draftsmen in Strasbourg therefore took place under particularly strict security precautions: The members of Charlie Hebdo were given police protection, the doors of the opera opened two hours before the start of the discussion because of the extensive controls. "The attacks were an absolute shock. So we had to come, simply out of sympathy, out of empathy," explained one of the audience members.

The event took place within the framework of the World Forum for Democracy, officially organized by the Council of Europe in the Alsatian capital from November 6 to 8 under the motto "Information: democracy in danger?". (SDA)

Büro Strebel realizes new digital presence for Fischer's Fritz

The Baden-based agency has given the Fischer's Fritz website a technical and visual upgrade to reflect the versatility of the Zurich venue.

Fischers_Fritz_Website4

Fischer's Fritz is a campsite, restaurant, swimming area, neighborhood store and a sports ground with a wakeboard academy. The restaurant even employs its own fisherman, who delivers the fish for the famous fish crispies directly from Lake Zurich to the restaurant's kitchen.

The old website could no longer keep up technically with the many innovations of recent years and so Büro Strebel was commissioned to realize a new website. new online presence commissioned.

The agency focused on clear navigation and a clear organization of the information. The structure of the website was kept flexible so that new or temporary offers can also be integrated.

Visitors can easily get an impression with more and larger images. The existing corporate design has been incorporated into the design. The "watercolor structure", which appears in the background and was placed over the images, is intended to give the site an independent and charming look, thus pleasantly breaking the often undercooled impression of digital products.

mockup_20min_relaunch_01

A complete relaunch of the 20min.ch website and app is planned for spring 2020. As of today, users of 20min.ch can access a beta version of the new website in addition to the conventional news site. The aim of the beta version is to test the new website with users in the run-up to the relaunch and to continue developing it on the basis of their feedback.

A 17-member team from Tamedia, Notch Interactive and other partners in co-creation are responsible for the development of the new responsive website.

The new site is being developed along the lines of "Lean Start-up". This means that new features will be introduced quickly and tested with the community. In the beta view, registered users are given the opportunity to provide feedback on the new news view and to rate individual features directly. A live ticker informs users at all times which feedback has already been implemented and which new features are available for testing.

Christophe Núñez, project manager of the new digital presence, is pleased: "The go-live of the beta version is an important milestone in the development process of the new site. The users

are at the center of all our considerations. That's why we look forward to exchanging ideas with them and take the feedback and evaluations very seriously."

The beta version is available at Beta.20min.ch for the news section on desktop and mobile devices in German- and French-speaking Switzerland. Users must register to test the beta version.

"Let's go" to the new "Love Life" campaign by Rod

Although the condom has a good image, it is not always used consistently. "Let's go" is therefore the motto of Rod Kommunikation's new "Love Life" campaign for protection against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STI). It prominently showcases the condom.

llsa-rod-19-01

The condom is popular and has a good image - and more common than any other contraceptive method in Switzerland. This is shown by the survey conducted by the Sotomo research center, which for the first time investigated the attitude of the population in Switzerland towards condoms as part of the "Love Life" campaign.

People in Switzerland know that they can protect themselves from HIV/STI by using a condom. If you ask the population what they associate with "sex with a condom", the respondents name "protection" first (38 percent) and "sex without a condom" is most strongly associated with "risk" (45 percent).

Sex with condom has become more natural

But does the good image of the condom also correspond to behavior during sex? The respondents state that they use the condom more consistently today for new and occasional sexual contacts than they did for their first sexual contacts. Their concern about HIV and STI is also greater today than it was then.

Perceived "pleasure restriction" tempts to risky behavior

And how do respondents experience the use of condoms? 81 percent say that sex with a condom feels safer. 58 percent of respondents describe sex with a condom as less intense, and for the same number, putting on the condom is an annoying interruption; 52 percent even feel that the condom restricts pleasure.

However, people who state that sex feels safer with a condom do not use it more consistently than others. On the other hand, those who perceive the condom as limiting the sexual experience clearly use it less consistently. If respondents had casual sex in the past 12 months, almost half (47 percent) say they always used a condom. Fifteen percent sometimes did not use one, and 12 percent did not use a condom during casual sex (the remaining 25 percent said, "I don't know").

Condom as message carrier of the new campaign

The declining HIV diagnosis reports, the positive image of the population towards the "Love Life" campaign and the relatively positive attitude of the population towards condoms pose challenges for HIV/STI prevention. This is because success can only be sustained if the sexually active population is regularly made aware of the importance of safer sex. The condom is a reliable, side-effect-free and cost-effective means of doing this.

This year's campaign motto "Let's go" ambiguously expresses what "Love Life" is all about: the joy of sex should be linked to the natural use of a condom. And in the spirit of "Love Life," the message is not "Stop Danger" but "Go for Safer Sex.

The four campaign subjects, which are used on posters, online and in social media, show the moment when safe sex begins, and this in different life situations. The well-known "Love Life" logo, implemented as a condom pack, is for once not the sender of the message on the advertising materials, but becomes a message and a guide to action itself: as a condom pack that is opened at the right moment.

In addition to the new campaign subjects, the campaign website Lovelife.ch was revised. And the safer sex check has been updated and simplified.

However, the safer sex rules have not changed. They are still the same:

  1. Vaginal and anal sex with condom
  2. And because everyone loves it differently: Do your personal safer sex check on Lovelife.com now.

Nationwide campaigns against AIDS have existed since 1987, some of which caused harsh reactions because they were considered too vulgar or provocative. Among the best-known are probably the 1996 campaign with the slogan "Ohne Dings kein Bums" ("No Thing, No Bang") or the posters from 2014 with the title "Love Life - und bereue nichts" ("Love Life - and Have No Regrets"). Is this art or can it go away?

It's all a matter of perspective: The Belgian agency Happiness explains the difference between art and a botched video call.

Actually, the artworks advertising the Internet services of the Belgian company VOO Telecom are quite pretty. As long as they really are works of art... and not a desperate attempt to establish a stable connection for a video call. Because nothing is more annoying when the picture falters, distorts or is displayed in pixels when you actually just want to see the other person and talk in peace. It is better to use a stable network.
