Galledia successful in first fiscal year

Galledia, a media company based in eastern Switzerland and a joint venture between Druckerei Flawil and Rheintaler Druckerei und Verlag, can look back on a successful first fiscal year. All of the company’s goals were achieved.

With consolidated sales of over 40 million, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to CHF 4.3 million, as Galledia announced on Wednesday. The margin of over ten percent is above average compared to the rest of the industry. Taking into account special factors such as the reorganization and initial costs, those responsible were very satisfied with the result. The Galledia management expects a further increase in profitability in the coming years thanks to synergies.

Despite pressure on volumes and prices, the Print division, which generates the highest turnover, significantly exceeded its budget. Turnover reached CHF 27 million and the operating result EBITDA amounted to 12 percent, according to the press release. The publishing division contributed a third of the Galledia result with sales of CHF 16 million. The companies Galledia Verlag, Mediasec, Motormedia and Galledia Frauenfeld published 22 trade journals. Real Estate Business and Umwelt Perspektiven were acquired.

The media company Galledia was jointly founded in January 2012 by Druckerei Flawil and Rheintaler Druckerei und Verlag. The company is based in Flawil and employs 227 people, including 29 apprentices. (SDA)

Ten new Sinus Milieus for Switzerland

Switzerland has changed. Publisuisse, Sinus, and M.I.S. Trend present the new 2013 social model.

For three decades, the Sinus Institute has been researching the changing values and lifestyles of people, according to a statement. This has resulted in the Sinus Milieus, an internationally proven tool for target group segmentation. Last year, Sinus, Heidelberg, and M.I.S. Trend, Lausanne, updated the model, which has been in use since 2002: Ten new milieus holistically describe the Swiss lifestyles of citizens and consumers. The experts from established market and social research institutes have looked at the effects of globalization, digitization and the global economic crisis on the sensitivities of the Swiss population. Developments such as the flexibilization of work and private life, the erosion of classic family structures, the digitization of everyday life and the growing polarization of wealth ("the middle class under pressure") result in a permanently changed milieu landscape.

Mediacompass, Publisuisse's strategic planning tool, already works with the new Sinus Milieus. The Sinus Milieus group groups of people together on the basis of values, attitudes and social factors, instead of just segmenting them by age and gender. They describe people who are similar in outlook on life and lifestyle. Milieus could be described as "groups of like-minded people".

Changing media consumption habits and a permanent increase in communication channels are making media planning ever more challenging. The strategic planning tool Mediacompass from Publisuisse supports professionals in agencies and companies in this task. The web-based planning tool enables the rapid acquisition of insights into target groups, their attitudes and consumer behavior, as well as media usage. The Mediacompass provides precise answers to complex media strategy questions. It also enables the analysis of the new Sinus-Milieus with regard to a wide range of consumption issues or the use of over 320 Swiss media. The Mediacompass has a user-friendly structure, can be operated intuitively and allows an explorative approach. Users can visualize the results in a meaningful way and easily export them to Office applications such as PowerPoint.

In flagrante: The most beautiful lawn grows in Switzerland

Hauert Fertilizers, founded in 1663, is one of Switzerland's oldest family-owned companies. In Flagranti has launched a campaign for the horticultural fertilizer manufacturer.

For this, In Flagranti has resorted to the true lawn experts: The English. They think the lawn grew on their dung and they have the most beautiful lawns in the world, as the agency writes in a press release. This is also proclaimed by a tradition-conscious Englishman in TV commercials for Hauert on SRF, RTS and RSI until mid-April. But he has to admit - not only verbally - that the Swiss have the better lawn fertilizer. Boutiq from Zurich is responsible for the production.

TBWA: Anti-wrinkle cream for International Women's Day

Vichy and TBWA\Zurich celebrated International Women's Day and presented women with flowers and vouchers.

March 8 was International Women's Day. This day originated in the fight for equal rights for women and is now a public holiday in many countries around the world. Not in Switzerland, however. To ensure that women here can still make the most of it, Vichy teamed up with TBWA\ to give them gifts, as the agency writes in a press release. Real flowers including a voucher to take home were displayed on posters at several highly frequented locations. The campaign was flanked throughout Switzerland by classic posters and a radio spot.

Last but not least: A friend, a good friend

Would you get up in the middle of the night and head to a shady, illegal poker den to lend money to a friend in need? Duval Guillaume Modem put it to the test for Carlsberg.

The idea doesn't sound very appealing: out of your warm bed and into an inhospitable millieu. Past grim bouncers, illegal fights, red light scenes - what you won't do for a friend in danger. Because his fellow players won't let him go until the money is brought to him. However, you never really know how real Duval Guillaume Modem's stunt marketing films really are. But maybe you don't need to know - just enjoy. (hae)

Swiss Facebook Award for Appenzeller cheese

In addition to workshops and discussions with industry experts, the first Swiss Facebook Conference also featured the presentation of the «Best Swiss Facebook Page Award.» Werbewoche.ch presents the complete rankings.

According to the organizers, the first Swiss Facebook conference was a complete success. 234 conference participants spent an afternoon exchanging ideas in workshops on the topic of Facebook as a marketing channel for companies. The conference was rounded off with keynote speeches by Dominique von Matt and Andreas Seifert from Brain Pirates, who stepped in at short notice for Bill Liao - co-founder of Xing and stuck in a snowstorm in Paris. In the evening, the best and most popular Swiss Facebook page were honored. From now on, the awards will be presented annually as part of the conference.

How do German Bundesliga clubs use Facebook, what are shitstorms and how do they take place on Facebook? What are the differences in the use of Facebook between European and American companies and what developments are in store for the future? How does a company get traffic to its page and what should a professional page look like? These and many other questions were discussed by industry experts yesterday afternoon at Schloss Sihlberg. Tanja Gutmann hosted the conference.

Using a quota for the number of responses to posts and the number of posts shared by fans, not only the absolute activity of the fans but also the relative activity of the fans in relation to the size of the fan community was measured

Swissness (S)
