Unique seeks talent for vocational training

Last year, the Küsnacht-based agency Unikat won the contract for the vocational training campaign in a multi-stage competitive pitch. The results will now be on display in a cohesive campaign starting in mid-March.

The campaign has been running since 2007 as a joint initiative of the federal government, the cantons and professional organizations under the sender Berufsbildungplus.ch. Its goal is to promote non-academic career paths through communication, the agency said in a statement Monday. The apprenticeship conference decided to set the strategic focus for 2013/2014 in talent acquisition, it said. Against the backdrop of a declining total number of learners, it is important to attract talented young people to vocational education and training, it said.

In addition, the campaign uses specific motifs for "higher vocational education" to draw attention to the follow-up opportunities. As is well known, there are now various opportunities for young people who have opted for an apprenticeship to obtain a higher degree. The campaign focuses on the internet platform of Berufsbildungplus.ch. It is intended to function as a hub for young people, parents, teachers, career counselors, other VET professionals and companies. The platform has undergone a revision and appears with a new structure and a new look that corresponds with the broad campaign.

The broad campaign with posters, ads and online banners stages the topic of "talent. The implementation focuses on authentic portraits that - according to the playful headline - have a special talent. A talent that is to come to fruition thanks to vocational training.

Last but not least: With Facebook to the desired flight neighbor

Facebook users can now not only choose their friends but also the person sitting next to them on a plane. That's because Finnair has launched a social check-in service.

And it works like this: Finnair's social check-in service links the Facebook profile to the flight seat. Other passengers can see the Facebook profile and the passenger can see who else has checked in for the same flight. After check-in, the user can share their destination and planned arrival time with their social media friends.

"Many people like to let their friends know where they are traveling to on Facebook. We wanted to simplify this process and add value to the check-in process for those who want to know who is on the same plane and who like to meet new people," says Aku Varamäki, Social Media Manager at Finnair. "Our aim is to make air travel more social and to integrate social networks into the journey in a way that our customers enjoy," adds Jarkko Konttinen, Vice President Marketing.

This means that "poking" is now superfluous. Instead, Facebook users can now poke others live on a Finnair flight. (uma)

Socialcheck-in_teaser

The service only shows the customer's public Facebook profile, which is only visible to passengers on the same flight. Everyone is free to use the social check-in service - so passengers can continue to travel "incognito". It is also possible to deactivate the social check-in service at any time and remove the link between the profile and the flight seating plan so that the profile is no longer visible to other passengers.

In the initial phase, the service is only linked to Facebook - other social networks will follow. The service was developed in collaboration with the Amadeus IT Group.

New media regulator to oversee newspapers in the UK

Following the wiretapping scandal in the UK surrounding the now defunct News of the World newspaper, a new media regulator is to be set up. The British parties reached this compromise on Monday after lengthy negotiations.

The new institution is to investigate complaints about reporting and ensure that apologies or corrections are published in a timely and appropriate manner. In recent weeks, the major British newspapers had warned against restricting press freedom through stricter media control. Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron said on Monday that his Tories' agreement with their coalition partner the Liberal Democrats and the opposition Labour Party had prevented an overly strict media law. Labor leader David Miliband said the newspapers had "nothing to fear".

In order to guarantee the independence of the new media regulator, it is to be created on a special legal basis - on which the BBC broadcaster and the British central bank are also based. Newspapers will have a say in the composition of the committee, but no right of veto. Media that do not wish to submit to the control will face severe penalties for offenses such as libel. The new media regulator is based on the report of a commission of experts that investigated the News of The World affair.

Journalists at the newspaper had been tapping the phones and voicemails of hundreds of celebrities, relatives of killed soldiers and victims of crime and bribing police officers for years in the hunt for exclusive stories. After the scandal broke in 2011, media mogul Rupert Murdoch shut down News of the World (Werbewoche.ch reported). Dozens of those responsible were arrested. (SDA)

"Now we're talking!" is the poster of the year 2012

The Youth Session campaign "Now we're talking!" won the Swiss Poster Award for Poster of the Year 2012. The main characters in this poster series are Swiss parliamentarians.

They are silenced with adhesive tape. The jury awarded a total of 16 prizes, which were presented at the APG Poster Night on March 14, 2013 in Zurich in front of 400 invited guests.

Politicians from all parties took part in the winning campaign of the SAJV Youth Session 2012. "Now we're talking!" uses striking means to implement the idea of making young people heard in politics. The jury of the Swiss Poster Award found it easy to justify their choice: "Clever and meaningful at the same time" is the campaign, according to the press release. The award-winning posters were created by the Zurich agency Leo Burnett Switzerland.

Gold was also won in the categories "Commercial National" by SMP Floralp Butter, "Commercial Regional" by Caran d'Ache, "Public Service" by Suva, "Culture" by the City of Zurich Urban Development and in the "Poster Innovation" category by McDonald's.

Here is an overview of the winners of the Swiss Poster Award 2012

High voltage designed website Mindprep.ch

The Hochspannung agency designed a learning cockpit for Mindprep.ch. To that end, the platform's concept and design were revamped.

Mindprep Verlag offers flashcards and preparation seminars in the fields of law, economics, natural sciences and psychology for students who want to prepare efficiently and systematically for their exams. Newly, learning by flashcards is also offered online on Mindprep.ch offered. In order to adapt the new e-learning platform to the needs of the students, the Zurich-based advertising agency Hochspannung was commissioned to fundamentally rethink the overall visual appearance, including the navigation system, and then to redesign it, the agency said in a statement.

The result is a learning cockpit that is intended to support and motivate students in learning in an intuitive way. Various specially integrated features such as comparisons with fellow students, countdown to exams, graphics and statistics are designed to make exam preparation more fun and easier. In principle, the student is accompanied by the system during the entire learning phase.

The launch of the new website was completed in collaboration with the client and Astina, which was responsible for programming.

Responsible at Mindprep Publishing: Roman Schmid, Nicolas Schweizer, Benjamin Bomatter, Fabian Felder. Responsible at Hochspannung Werbeagentur Zurich: Signe Fleischmann, Nicole Caviezel, Matthew Katumba, Alex Taiganidis, Nadine Ticozzelli.

Last but not least: print never dies

It's easy to find information online: Google, Wikipedia, online news services, blogs, and social media, to name just a few of the possible sources. But print will never die. Want proof?

Even the note on the fridge can be replaced. But some paper products are not. This is proven by the following little movie. The evidence is somewhat predictable, but see for yourself:

Mörgeli present at Tamedia AGM

Last fall, the *Tages-Anzeiger* ran a story about Christoph Mörgeli and his position at the University of Zurich. The SVP politician subsequently lost his job. Now he apparently wants to settle the score with the newspaper.

He will appear as a shareholder at Tamedia's Annual General Meeting (AGM), as Sonntagsblick writes. Christoph Mörgeli has been a co-owner of the media group, which publishes the Tages-Anzeiger, for several days. The Zurich SVP National Councillor bought the share with the number 11178255 for CHF 133.70, which gives him the right to attend the AGM on April 26.

Mörgeli wants to appear as a speaker, writes Sonntagsblick. "I want to know why Tamedia is employing Tages-Anzeiger editor-in-chief Res Strehle, a man who was arrested as a squatter, cultivated close ties to terrorists and made anti-Semitic statements," explained Mörgeli. He demanded that Tamedia fill the position of Tagi boss. If anyone had to complain about a media campaign, it was him - and it was the Tages-Anzeiger, he continued according to Sonntagsblick. In the fall, the Tages-Anzeiger played the leading role in reporting on Mörgeli's job as head of the Institute of Medical History at the University of Zurich, which he ultimately lost. At the time, the newspaper quoted from an internal report by his superior. It stated that he had poor professional qualifications. "The Tagi had obtained and published the report illegally. So it's hypocritical for Strehle to complain that arrest photos of him from the 1980s are being published," said Mörgeli (Werbewoche.ch reported): Res Strehle turns to the Press Council).

Tamedia did not wish to comment on Mörgeli's share purchase when asked by Sonntagsblick.

16th International Advertising Film Festival: The balance sheet

The 16th edition of the Spotlight International Advertising Film Festival came to a close with a spectacular party. It marked the premiere at the atmospheric new venue, the Capitol in Mannheim.

Just a few weeks ago, the advertising film festival in German-speaking countries was also included in the exclusive circle of the 15 most important creative competitions worldwide by the trade journals W&V and Horizont, according to a press release. Mannheim schoolchildren were also able to enjoy a first: on the morning of March 15, they had the Capitol and Spotlight presenter Oliver Kalkofe all to themselves and chose their favorites in their own voting show. In the evening, their votes had an equal say in the awarding of the 2013 Audience Awards.

Outstanding spots from the current advertising film year are not only judged by an industry-standard jury of professional creatives, but also by each and every one of the more than 1,500 festival visitors. The differences between the professional jury and the audience awards are sometimes considerable and provide a need for discussion. The big evening award show is therefore preceded by the Spotlight Forum.

Spotlight 2013 - The competition, the trends

While the top-class jury of experts from the creative industry chose their winners on the first, non-public day of the festival, the audience voted for their favorites live and digitally at the big award show. The two sections Spotlight Professionals, the main competition for professional commercials and the Spotlight Students competition for young talents, are divided into the two categories "TV & Cinema" and "Web & Mobile", depending on whether they are classic advertising formats or commercials designed for the Internet or mobile devices. The "Cases" category for new creative formats is judged exclusively by the expert jury. Not only commercials, but also campaign concepts for moving image communication and other supplementary background information can be submitted here. The student gold winners of the audience jury were also able to enjoy 1,000 euros in prize money each, donated by the Film Commission Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar.

Festival directors Peter Frey and Thomas Falkenstein were responsible for the program. Spotlight is supported by the City of Mannheim, MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg, Landesanstalt für Kommunikation (LfK) and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.

Spotlight Awards 2013 - The winners

This year, Arno Lindemann, Managing Director of Lukas Lindemann Rosinski, Hamburg, chaired the expert jury in the main Spotlight Professionals competition. Helmut Hartl, Embassy of Dreams, Munich, was deputy chairman of the jury in the main competition. The young talent competition Spotlight Students was traditionally chaired by Gabriele Röthemeyer, Managing Director of MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg. They were supported by colleagues from agencies, film production companies, media editorial offices and the most important training centers for commercial filmmakers.

All winning spots can be seen on the festival's homepage.

Media spokesman Andreas Käsermann leaves the SP

Andreas Käsermann is leaving the SP Switzerland. The media officer has resigned at the end of June - for "purely personal" reasons. The SP is now looking for someone who can formulate quickly and concisely.

"For me, the question arose as to whether I would continue for another three years and work on the 2015 elections and their aftermath," Käsermann told the SDA news agency on Saturday. "The answer was no." The decision was a purely personal one. He had now closely followed federal politics for twelve years. The decision at this point in time gives the party enough time to train a successor à fonds. Käsermann's future is still unclear. He is "extremely open", he said. A break is also conceivable.

Käsermann joined the SP in 2008 as media officer. He previously worked as a journalist. The party is now looking for a successor by means of an advertisement. The party is looking for someone who not only has in-depth knowledge of federal politics and political mechanisms, but who can also "communicate quickly and concisely". (SDA)
