Last but not least: The little advertiser's opposition strategy

As PR executive René Saavedra, Gael García Bernal sells everything with the promise of a better future for Chile—*No* hits theaters on March 21, so that’s sure to get the weekend off to a good start.

On Thursday, the feature film "No" by Chilean director Pablo Larraín will be released in cinemas in German-speaking Switzerland. The film revolves around the advertising man René Saavedra, played by Gael García Bernal. When he is hired by a group of opposition activists to really do something for Chile - namely to end the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet - he is initially helpless. According to the SDA's review of the film. Instead of turning Pinochet's bloody atrocities - torture, abduction, 3,000 opponents of the regime killed - into chilling commercials, the protagonist prefers music, dance and promises of happiness in the Coca-Cola style.

However, the film is by no means simplistic, but rather astonishingly topical: in the events of the feature film, it has become commonplace to sell politics with the most unreflected emotions possible instead of concrete facts - and not to the benefit of everyone, the SDA film review continues.

Selling politics in the style of the manipulative psychology of soft drink advertising - emotions instead of facts: This is not an unknown stylistic device in this country either. A movie certainly worth seeing. (uma)

Scholz&Friends on the road with wrestlers for Opel

Scholz&Friends Switzerland has launched the «Adam & Drive» test drive campaign for Opel. The campaign is designed to showcase the new Opel Adam.

According to the agency, the online promotion idea is derived directly from the central product benefit of "maximum individuality". While the young target group can choose from almost countless color and design options when designing their personal Ada, participants in the promotion have the opportunity to configure their very special test drive via an app - and with a bit of luck, win exactly that.

There are just as many parameters to choose from as there are unusual ones for a test drive - from the route profile to the type of music and food to the very special co-driver: a wrestler, a model, a clown, a stewardess, a driving instructor, a documentary filmmaker, a Panda and a priest are just waiting to go on tour with the winners, for example through the city or the forest, on the highway or through the car wash. The test drives are documented on camera and the short videos are posted online on a weekly basis. In this way, the campaign will be kept up to date over a long period of time.

All interested parties can still apply until May 7, 2013 at the Adam Microsite and on Facebook.

Serviceplan: Honor for Florian Haller and agency founder Peter Haller

On Monday evening, Florian Haller and his father Peter Haller—both Swiss expatriates and founders of Serviceplan—were inducted into the «German Advertising Hall of Fame» at the Museum for Communication in Berlin.

Its members - there are now 30 in total - come from all areas of classic communications and have left a lasting mark on German advertising with their professional and lifetime achievements. "The most significant personalities of the German advertising industry are honored here." This is how the "Hall of Fame of German Advertising" describes itself, which was launched by Wirtschaftswoche in 2001. It is therefore an honor for Florian Haller and his father Peter Haller, who founded the Serviceplan agency in 1970 together with his partner Rolf O. Stempel, to now be members of this circle of German advertising personalities.

Roland Tichy speaks about the new additions as follows: "Together, Peter and Florian Haller have managed to successfully carry a solid, owner-managed agency into the next generation and, following the handover at the top, to further develop it into one of the most creative and fastest-growing companies in its sector." Servicplan has also been present in Zurich since December 2012.

The one or two new members of the "Hall of Fame" are selected each year by a jury of eight experts, chaired by Roland Tichy, Editor-in-Chief of Wirtschaftswoche. Last year, the jurors chose longtime RTL CEO Anke Schäferkordt and former Young & Rubicam boss Ingo Krauss. Other members are André Kemper, founder and supervisory board member of Thjink (formerly Kempertrautmann), publicist and advertiser Sebastian Turner, and Holger Jung and Jean-Remy von Matt. Wirtschaftswoche has been hosting the event together with the GWA (Gesamtverband Kommunikationsagenturen) since 2004.

The festive event in Berlin

Once again this year, the new members of the "Hall of Fame of German Advertising" were honored at the Museum of Communication in Berlin. Around 170 invited guests congratulated not only Florian and Peter Haller, but also Peter Schmidt, owner of the Atelier Peter Schmidt agency, which means that the "Hall of Fame" now has exactly 30 personalities. The portrait film about the two Haller gentlemen caused great amusement among the guests. The surprise was perfect when one of the actresses suddenly appeared on stage during the award ceremony and took up her role in the portrait film.

Leo Burnett: vacuum cleaner even sucks snow

Samsung has been an official partner of Swissski since the 2012/13 ski season. To communicate this, Leo Burnett Switzerland created a viral film in the style of an amateur self-made clip in collaboration with the Swiss Ski Association and put it online anonymously.

It shows members of the Bernese freeskiing squad thundering a Samsung Navibot robot vacuum cleaner over a self-built jump, apparently in their youthful exuberance. The trick is that the vacuum cleaner's jump is less spectacular than its suction power.

The clip has already been viewed over 135,000 times on YouTube within a few days. In a later version, Samsung reveals itself as the sender. Even this spot already has over 50,000 clicks. In addition, the making-of of the viral can now be seen online.

Spina's Civil Voices puts an end to power guzzlers

In the spirit of Earth Hour, Spinas Civil Voices has launched a viral animated spot for WWF Switzerland. The spot aims to highlight the importance of saving energy efficiently by using the right light sources.

Because with energy-efficient lamps, electricity consumption for lighting can be almost halved in this country, the agency said in a statement on Monday. In the commercial, a traditional light bulb does the job itself by "eating up" vast amounts of electricity in a cozy brasserie. The gluttonous, uncouth electricity guzzler knows no table manners and doesn't notice that his time is up. Finally, he literally runs out of light, topples off his chair and is dragged out the door. Its "table partner," the LED lamp, is more modest: it is sovereign, shows manners, discreetly eats only a little electricity and shines contentedly into the future, which is actually already the present.

The Zurich-based animation company Kompost realized the film.

Jung von Matt/Limmat has launched a broad-based spring campaign for Autoricardo.ch in German- and French-speaking Switzerland. In its first TV campaign, Autoricardo.ch stages its detailed search function and shows how easy it is to find the right vehicle.

At night in a police control center, two officers test the Swiss online marketplace for vehicles and vehicle accessories. In doing so, they don't notice that the microphone is switched on and they trigger a huge manhunt. While their colleagues are still busy searching, the two police officers have already found the car - thanks to Autoricardo.ch.

The spot can be seen in three different versions from March 18 and will be flanked by a billboard as well as numerous online advertising media and POS measures. In addition, Autoricardo.ch is sponsoring the traffic messages on SRF3.
