Cavegnwerbung designs invitation for Edi.13

Agencies have until August 31 to submit their work for Edi. 13. This year, the award ceremony for the Swiss Prize for Advertising and Corporate Films will be staged as a major Swiss folk festival.

"Everyone comes together here to celebrate an award and themselves. Everyone can add their two cents and the winner is the one who is down-to-earth and outstanding," is the motto of the award ceremony. The invitation is intended to emphasize that this is not just any old film award. Cavegnwerbung designed and wrote the invitation in this style: The Schiffbau Zurich is transformed into a festival hut and the invitation mailing is printed on a sausage box and sent out in proper style with a small mustard tube. According to the agency, it's all about the sausage for filmmakers. After all, the Edi.13 The prize is awarded under the patronage of the Federal Department of Home Affairs - in other words, the official federal film prize.

Visibility measurement of online advertising media becomes comparable

The IAB has recommended the «50/1» standard for measuring the visibility of online advertising: A delivered banner should only count as a «visible impression» if at least 50 percent of the banner’s area is within the browser’s visible area for at least 1 second.

These guidelines are also broadly supported internationally, says the Interactive Advertising Bureau Switzerland Association IAB about the recommendation. This applies with immediate effect and is intended to prevent possible differences in the measurement of viewability values. The starting point for this issue is the fact that not every paid ad view or every ad impression is actually visible on a screen.

This is because websites also load advertising spaces into memory that are "below the fold" - i.e. outside the visible area. And users sometimes close websites directly after opening them within a fraction of a second without scrolling further down. In such cases, however, the delivery of these ads placed below the fold is often regularly recorded and counted. Thus, in these cases, there is a difference between loaded and visible ads, the IAB adds.

So far, there is no valid standard for this ambiguity. The "Making Measurement Make Sense" (3MS) project - an initiative of the Interactive Advertising Bureau and other industry associations from the field of (online) advertising - is leading the way in the development of such a standard at the international level. A pilot study within the initiative has developed the recommendation "50/1" in recent months.

IAB Switzerland also relies on the international recommendation of 3MS. The Standards Working Group, headed by Simon Morton, has evaluated the recommendation, it says, and advises that the visibility of online advertising media be recorded according to these guidelines. In collaboration with publishers and agencies, a short FAQ has also been produced that answers key questions and describes the limitations of the recommendation. This stands here ready for download.

The punching bag quiz challenge, for example, called for brains and strength, while the William Tell 2.0 challenge was all about skill and teamwork in maneuvering a drone. The aim was to show as much brain and mental power as possible and, of course, to have a lot of fun, according to the agency. Anyone lacking the necessary power would be helped by Emmi Energy Milk, according to the slogan.

About the Facebook App on the Emmi Energy Milk fan page, the respective teams are presented one week before the broadcast. The community can cast their vote for their favorite team. All voting participants will be entered into a draw for weekly prizes as well as the co-host as the main prize.

Blocher takes over 20 percent of the Baz holding company

Christoph Blocher is joining Baz-Holding. Through his financing company, Robinvest, he is acquiring 20 percent of the share capital for 306,000 francs. He is also set to become a member of the Baz-Holding board of directors.

In addition, Robinvest will take over loans from Medienvielfalt-Holding (MVH) in the amount of 40 million francs, which MVH had previously granted to Baz-Holding, wrote National Councilor Filippo Leutenegger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BaZ-Holding, in Tuesday's edition of the Basler Zeitung. Blocher had already been involved in the printing plant closure, the takeover of real estate and the restructuring of Baz, MVH majority shareholder Tito Tettamanti said in an interview with the newspaper. "That's why we thought it was appropriate to give him the opportunity to share in the profits."

MVH previously owned 100 percent of Baz Holding. Tettamanti had bought the struggling newspaper and printing group from the Hagemann publishing family in February 2010, with lawyer Martin Wagner acting as the new publisher. When Tettamanti and Wagner appointed Blocher biographer Markus Somm as Baz editor-in-chief in August 2010, suspicions arose for the first time that Blocher was involved in the Basler Zeitung.

In November 2010, Tettamanti sold on to former Crossair patron Moritz Suter. A good year later, Suter gave up in frustration and returned his shares to Rahel Blocher - in the process, Blocher's co-ownership became public knowledge. Rahel Blocher sold on to Tito Tettamanti's holding company in the same month. (SDA)

Basel free paper Spatz Zeitung discontinued

Two years after the change in ownership, the Spatz Zeitung in Basel is ceasing publication. The staff, who share about five full-time positions, are being laid off, as the publisher Publitex announced on Tuesday.

The free paper will be discontinued with immediate effect. The issue planned for the end of June will no longer be published, according to the press release. Publitex owner Dominique Hiltbrunner does not completely rule out a relaunch in the future, but says there are no concrete plans at present.

Hiltbrunner, who also publishes Automobil Revue, took over Publitex from Robert Schmid in 2011. He gave the free newspaper, which has a monthly circulation of around 217,000 copies in the city and region of Basel, a new look. However, it had not succeeded in gaining the necessary share of the highly competitive advertising market in Basel.
Hiltbrunner the end.

Spatz Zeitung was first published in 1984. It had been highly profitable for a long time, said managing director Hans Gerber, who had already resigned in June at the end of August, in response to an inquiry from the SDA news agency. But with today's advertising revenues, the paper could no longer be financed. In addition to Spatz Zeitung, Publitex also published Blickpunkt until recently. According to Gerber, the business magazine for SMEs was recently sold to Gassmann in Biel, which also took over the editor-in-chief. (SDA)

SRF's plans to relocate to Basel have failed

Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF) will have to retain its Basel location on the Bruderholz for the time being. Plans to move to the centrally located post office building at the SBB railroad station have fallen through.

SRF Head of Communications Andrea Hemmi confirmed corresponding media reports on Tuesday. SRF had wanted to bring the entire culture department together at the new location in Basel. Around 100 employees from the radio and television culture departments would have been affected by the move. Around 150 people already work in Basel.

According to Hemmi, SRF and Swiss Post agreed on the details of a future ten-year lease in a preliminary contract in March of this year. It has now become clear that Swiss Post is no longer interested in this lease. According to Hemmi, SRF will now remain in the studio building on Bruderholz, which was built in 1940, for a further five years. The property is now being optimized to meet short-term operational requirements.

Originally, SRF wanted to move the Basel Stadio to the city center by 2014 at the latest. According to Hemmi, the search for a new location in Basel will continue. SRF remains committed to the project of a convergent cultural department. (SDA)

Last but not least: Ch Tsch Tsch Tscheingefecht

Theophil Butz recently grumbled in *Werbewoche* about the "Tsch-Tsch" Martian. Hopefully, he hasn't seen the best "Tsch-Tsch" army in the world.

"It's summer, we want to rip our clothes off and forget everything, especially political correctness." Not a quote from Micaela Schäfer, but from Michèle Binswanger. Even if many people prefer to enjoy the arrival of summer with their clothes on, they at least increase the frequency of barbecues. And consequently the Coop frequency. Because, as the advertising teaches us, Coop is once again this year's barbecue champion. However, the commercials were not only met with approval. Whether it's the fire department or the Martian - you can't please everyone.

Werbewoche mothball Butz didn't have a good word to say about Coop's "puny, out-of-this-world E.T.". The "third-rate Martian" was "not only embarrassing, but even more tasteless" (like the fire department commercial). The agency - name known to the editors - had not understood how to develop a good, small idea. Butz's explanation can be here can be viewed - for once not only by subscribers. As always, well worth reading (even if I have to admit that I secretly found the Martian a little funny).

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4AoUUuSQto

Speaking of third-class: You can currently see another Tsch-Tsch commercial. This time, the best army in the world plays the leading role. As with The Martian, it takes a great deal of effort to distinguish fiction from reality. Vague clues: With their felt uniforms, the soldiers look as if they will go straight into active service after the next barbecue. The strange green jeep in the background exudes more Ostalgie than Swissness. General Guisan personally leads the parade. The last time the Swiss army was portrayed in such an unrealistic way was by Melanie Winiger in "Achtung, Fertig, Charlie". A refreshing change, given that Blick & Co. report almost daily on Hamburg baptisms with a main course of cat food and rotten fish.

582 new graduate marketing specialists

On Saturday, June 29, 2013, the federal certificates for marketing professionals were awarded at the Kursaal in Bern. 582 talented young people received their certificates, which recognize them as specialists with practical skills.

Around 900 people from all over Switzerland and neighboring countries took part in the national diploma ceremony for the new marketing specialists with a federal certificate last Saturday in the Kursaal in Berne. A total of 735 candidates took the demanding exam; 79.2 percent of them succeeded. The overall grade point average for 2013 was 4.25.

"Revitalization of the markets"

Andreas Balazs, president of the examination board, congratulated the freshly graduated marketing specialists in his address: "Your will and commitment to complete a demanding, in-service training program is to be specially commended." The successful graduates, Balazs continued, "enliven the markets with their goal-oriented concepts, catchy measures and creativity."

Examiner Claude Dubois, Head of Examinations Swiss Marketing, was pleased with how disciplined the candidates behaved during the exam: "Today's young people are capable of top performance - and in a highly likeable manner."

Swiss Marketing President Uwe Tännler, who was not present in Bern due to the simultaneous Swiss Marketing Delegates Meeting, congratulated the successful graduates from afar and pointed out that membership in Swiss Marketing secures the profession. As one of the many examples, he cited the European Certificate, which makes Swiss Marketing degrees comparable throughout Europe and thus provides an additional opportunity for success.

Leo Burnett Switzerland: Emmental Eidgenoss launched

In 2013, the Swiss Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival will take place in Burgdorf, the home of Emmentaler. For this reason, Leo Burnett and Emmentaler Switzerland are dedicating a very special cheese to the Schwingen: the Emmentaler Eidgenoss.

According to the press release, this name is no coincidence, as the most successful wrestlers (= wreath winners) at the Federal Wrestling Festival can proudly call themselves "Eidgenoss". The cheese makers are also proud of their product. Because the Eidgenoss is made by hand with a linen cloth, as in the past, and has a particularly earthy and strong taste. And that's how it looks, too.

For the loaf label, in fact, the Swiss artist Thomas Ott has made a special design. It consists of nine illustrations that Ott created in hours of handwork using the mezzotint technique. The illustrations show the eight main swings and probably the most important gesture of the sport: the handshake before the fight as a sign of respect and fairness.

The Eidgenoss is advertised in ads and on TV with the two top wrestlers Matthias Sempach and Kilian Wenger lifting the 90 kg loaf together. The Eidgenoss is sold in the cheese counters and self-service shelves in Migros as well as in the two producing cheese dairies in Affoltern and Uettligen.
