Plan.Net: DACH launch of Emmi Chai Latte

As of the end of January 2014, Emmi is expanding its Caffè Latte product range to include Chai Latte. Plan.Net is responsible for the digital strategy, its implementation and the social media communication around the launch in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

The Zurich-based agency Plan.Net won the pitch against two other agencies. The online strategy in the Swiss, German and Austrian markets focuses on the new website, the social media concept including content management and online advertising. Tobias Gärtner, Managing Director of Plan.Net Suisse: "The digital staging of the product launch picks up on the elements of the classic campaign, but at the same time expands them to include the needs of the digital world in terms of interaction and dialog. Our understanding of holistic brand launches, shaped by the House of Communication, made the collaboration with the client and the other agencies involved very inspiring. And the one or two shared chai lattes certainly helped in the process."

Responsible at Emmi: Suzan Durgut (Group Brand Manager), Melanie Muri (Senior Brand Manager), Sarah Villani (Brand Manager). Responsible at Plan.Net: Tobias Gärtner (Managing Director), Thomas Lüber (Head of Consulting), Peter Broder (Consultant), Janine Diehlmann (Content Manager), Nina Martens (Senior Art Director), Pascal Sonder and Furkan Fidan (Producer).

Last but not least: Long live the 80s

The airline Delta has produced a safety video with an "80s" theme. Even frequent flyers are likely to watch it again.

It's a familiar story: the safety instructions at the start of the flight don't really get anyone out of their seats. This is not only due to the fact that most passengers already have their seatbelts fastened. Experienced passengers are even conspicuous by their absence when it is explained for the hundredth time how to pull the oxygen mask over their nose in an emergency. In the event of an emergency, it would be very useful if everyone knew what to do.

To ensure that the instructions finally get the attention they deserve, airlines have long since started to package them in entertaining videos. A welcome side effect: if the films meet the public's taste, they become highly regarded free commercials on the Internet. Air New Zealand achieved major viral success with the "Lord of the Rings" security filmThe video generated over 11 million clicks on YouTube. Virgin also landed a million hit with the help of pop and YouTube star Todrick Hall: "Safety Dance". Thomson Airways was already shooting in 2009 Instruction with children instead of adults.

The list is long and Delta has now added an instant hit to it. The airline ignites five minutes of 80s fireworks. As a highlight, even series legend Alf makes a brief appearance. By now at the latest, everyone should be aware of the oxygen masks. (hae)

Government council creates guidelines for alcohol and tobacco advertising

In the canton of Zurich, the ban on alcohol and tobacco advertising is repeatedly being violated in many places. The Department of Public Health has therefore developed clearer guidelines. Starting in May 2014, compliance with the regulations will also be monitored through random inspections.

Over the course of the past year, the Zurich Department of Health carried out an investigation into whether the health law that has been in force in the canton since 2008 is being complied with. Even after five years, the advertising restriction is not being complied with everywhere, according to a press release issued on Thursday. For example, billboard advertisements for alcoholic beverages were still found in several publicly accessible locations. The guidelines are now intended to create legal certainty and facilitate compliance with the legal regulations thanks to easily comprehensible criteria, as the health department writes.

The cantonal health law explicitly prohibits "widely perceptible advertising" for alcohol and tobacco on public property and in public buildings. Football pitches and ice hockey stadiums are also covered by this regulation. The cantonal government is now clarifying how these legal provisions are to be understood. Any advertising for addictive substances that can be seen from a distance of ten meters or more is prohibited.

Advertising for non-alcoholic beer

Questions regarding jersey advertising at sporting events are also clarified. Accordingly, an advertising space of 100 square centimetres may be printed on the athletes' clothing. Another problem is so-called deceptive advertising. According to the Department of Health, this is particularly evident in advertising for alcohol-free beer from brands under which alcoholic beer is also sold. In these cases, it must be clear that the non-alcoholic drink is being advertised. Municipalities and sports clubs have an important role to play in complying with the applicable legal requirements, writes the Health Directorate. They have been urged to do their part to improve the situation. From May, random checks will be carried out to verify compliance with the guidelines. (SDA)

Intermediate study MA Strategy extended

The Wemf-Intermedia MA Strategy study will also include direct mail as a media category in the future. This means that all advertising-relevant communication channels will be represented in the study.

In January 2014, Wemf gained a new participant for MA Strategy in the form of Swiss Post. Thanks to this cooperation, the established study will now also include direct mail as a media category from fall 2014. For 15 years, MA Strategy has enabled a comparison of users between media groups and relevant individual media from the press, television, radio, cinema, teletext, Internet, address directories and out-of-home advertising sectors.

Urs Wolfensberger, Head of Marketing & Sales at Wemf, is delighted about the collaboration with Swiss Post: "The inclusion of the direct mail category ensures that all advertising-relevant communication channels can be planned in the MA Strategy. It therefore remains the most comprehensive intermedia study in Switzerland.

The "Advertising expenditure in Switzerland 2013" statistics, which are also compiled by Wemf, confirm the importance of this step. Net advertising sales for direct advertising amounted to CHF 1.017 billion, which corresponds to a market share of around 23%.

Reduced to the max

Simplification and reduction were at the forefront of the new design concept. With large images and completely revised typography, the focus is on the content and offers the visitor the best possible reading pleasure. In the detailed article, for example, a disturbing right column with advertising teasers is dispensed with and only other relevant articles are displayed with a brief outline.

Find relevant content faster

The thematic categorization of content via keywords and headings enables a quick overview of topic-related content with a click. Articles are often "relevant" because they are popular. In order to quickly recognize this content, there is now the Campus Credits The more often something is clicked, shared and commented on, the more credits the content receives.

"Previon Plus convinced us with clean planning, efficient work economy and clear communication that I really found extremely remarkable!" says Ronald Schenkel, Head of NZZ Campus.
