Publigroupe takes over Sellbranch

Publigroupe acquires 50.1 percent of Sellbranch. Sellbranch, headquartered in Stockholm, offers yield management services based on technology from Improve Digital, an 85-percent subsidiary of Publigroupe.

The addition of Sellbranch to its portfolio will enable Publigroupe to become a key player in the fast-growing markets of the Nordic countries in the field of real-time advertising (RTA), according to the press release. The acquisition is subject to approval by the Swiss Competition Commission (COMCO).

Sellbranch's services are tailored to the needs of digital media companies that want to automate their sales relationships and operate private premium marketplaces. Sellbranch works with over 20 leading media companies in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Sellbranch achieved a transaction volume of SEK 23 million (three million Swiss francs) in 2013 and is experiencing strong growth, particularly in the programmatic segment. The company was founded in Sweden by experienced internet veterans and opinion leaders, Fredrik Sellgren and Ola Ahlvarsson. They will remain shareholders in the company. Fredrik Sellgren will continue to be responsible for the management and development of the company, and Ola Ahlvarsson will become a member of the Board of Directors, representing the second largest shareholder, Keynote Media Group AB.

Sellbranch's revenue management expertise and Improve Digital's underlying technology provide online publishers with the immediate ability to open thousands of customer relationships. All major demand-side platforms (DSPs), agencies and trading desks are already integrated into the platform. This enables higher yields, efficiency gains and maximum advertising utilization, data security and control. Sellbranch works with well-known agencies and trade desks, including WPP and Xaxis. Yahoo, Spilgames, Spay and Passagen and others are among its publisher clients.

Arndt Groth, CEO of Publigroupe: "Sellbranch is a fast-growing company with a tremendous value proposition. The Sellbranch team has outstanding competencies in combining technology, demand generation, data management and analytics and represents a significant extension of our European technology and services strategy in the area of advertising commerce in the dynamic Nordic markets. With Sellbranch's clients and premium target groups, we can optimally complement our portfolio of companies, which includes Improve Digital, Spree 7 and Zanox.

Ola Ahlvarsson, founder and investor of Sellbranch: "Publigroupe is well positioned to become a European leader in the exciting and fast-growing online advertising space. As founders of Sellbranch, the leader in the early adopter markets in the Nordics, we are excited to be part of this far-reaching vision".

Studies by IDC and PWC show that the entire Western European market for display advertising will reach the revenue mark of EUR 7.8 billion in 2017. The mobile display advertising segment will contribute another three billion euros. By 2017, a significant proportion of revenue from display advertising will be generated through the use of programmatic and real-time technologies in the USA and in the highly developed European markets.

An important part of the programmatic audience offered by Sellbranch is accessed through the use of real-time advertising technology. Instead of buying ad impressions in bulk on websites or networks at pre-negotiated prices, dynamic price offers can be made for specific ad impressions as they are displayed in the browser in real time. The advantages of real-time advertising are increased transparency and improved targeting. The result is a higher CPM (price per thousand contacts), an efficient advertising workflow and more effective advertising thanks to constant optimization in real time.

Kargo: Campaign for Swiss vegetables

The new image campaign for Swiss vegetables launches on April 28. With this campaign, created by Kargo Kommunikation, the Swiss Vegetable Producers Association aims to raise awareness of the benefits of eating seasonal, locally grown vegetables.

"Swiss vegetables - tailored to every taste." The Association of Swiss Vegetable Producers is using this claim and the "Spring Vegetables" TV commercial to promote its vegetables from April 28, 2014. The aim of the campaign is to increase the market share of Swiss vegetables compared to foreign vegetables, increase consumption and strengthen the positive image. To this end, the campaign focuses on the variety and seasonality of Swiss vegetables: every month, consumers have a different seasonal vegetable to choose from. No two are the same; the color, shape and taste of each vegetable are unique. This is precisely what the new campaign focuses on in line with the season: the vegetables are once again the star of the advertising and are shown from their most beautiful and crispest side, according to a press release. Kargo Kommunikation is responsible for the idea, conception, planning and realization of all advertising material for the campaign as well as for the responsive Website and the vegetable game.

Fresh and crisp on all channels

The campaign is based on a year-round, cross-media strategy - a wide variety of online and offline measures are used to entice consumers to enjoy the delicious Swiss vegetables. The campaign is driven by three TV commercials (spring, summer and fall vegetables), advertisements (online and offline) and the responsive online vegetable game "Saison Mix". The TV commercials show typical cutting and cooking situations in the kitchen and make Swiss vegetables look crisp and crunchy at their best. The music in the TV commercials also fits in with the new lifestyle - Ray Wilko composed it especially for this purpose. The ten poster and advertisement subjects close the loop with the wooden board used as a recurring visual element in the TV commercial. The slate board symbolizes regionality, the market stall, which stands for freshness and proximity.

Evoq: CTC Analytics website renewed

Evoq was commissioned by CTC Analytics to modernize the existing brand elements and communication materials of the leading technology company in the field of laboratory automation and to sharpen its brand positioning.

According to the press release, a comprehensive brand audit helped to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of the two brands CTC Analytics and PAL System as well as their appearances and communication. An efficiently designed process - involving the entire management of CTC Analytics - enabled rapid decision-making and the resulting development of the relevant brand elements and means of communication. The logos and the brand color of the appearance remained unchanged. The positioning of the PAL System product brand, on the other hand, was sharpened and clearly brought to the forefront of communication. A brand platform with a corresponding brand story and a new claim form the basis for establishing the product as the actual industry standard in direct sales, but also as a component for third-party providers. An electronic newsletter was developed, the website was redesigned and a comprehensive brochure concept was drawn up to communicate the new positioning to the outside world. Last but not least: Gin and Joiz

Thanks to Jimmy Fallon, TV journalist Brian Williams is rapping again. This time, it's «Gin and Juice.» These mashup classics just keep getting better and better.

Since April, the Swiss social TV channel Joiz has been airing the globally acclaimed U.S. late-night show «The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.» From Monday through Thursday at 10 p.m., the previous day’s episode is shown in the original language. No subtitles—Joiz’s young viewers are learning English, and the Joiz editors get some peace and quiet. It’s a good idea, because Jimmy Fallon has long been a superstar among the web generation, even outside the U.S. Clips from the show are posted on YouTube and, with impressive regularity, become viral hits. Impressive, yes; surprising, no. After all, the show’s creative output never fails to delight.

Take, for example, the idea of having NBC television journalist Brian Williams rap hip-hop classics. The individual words of the songs are searched for, found, and pieced together during the newscasts. Williams kicked things off almost a year ago with «Nothing but a G Thang» by Snoop Dogg. This was followed by hits such as «Straight Outta Compton» by N.W.A. and  «Good Vibrations» by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. In February, it reached «Rapper's Delight» by the Sugar Hill Gang—thanks in no small part to the two guest appearances and their perfected technique—has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube.

At the end of April, the latest and best installment yet—Snoop Dogg again, this time with the 1993 West Coast anthem «Gin and Juice.» The remix was so well thought out that Brian Williams’ version is barely distinguishable from the Original distinguishes. Incidentally, the videos were created by John MacDonald, a member of Fallon's team. He is said to have used Williams' material for the compilations over a period of five years. (hae)

Internet users prefer native advertising

According to an Ebuzzing study conducted by Nielsen, the positive perception of context-sensitive video advertising rubs off on the advertised brands, thereby enhancing branding effects.

Native advertising formats are very popular with internet users: more than one in two find moving image advertising in editorial content appealing (54%) and entertaining (56%). Just under a third (31%) would even prefer native advertising formats to any other advertising format on the Internet. This is the result of a recent Nielsen study conducted on behalf of Ebuzzing. For the first time, the study compared the advertising perception of several brand campaigns in which either Ebuzzing's native video advertising format Inread or classic pre-roll ads were used. According to the results, the high user favorability of the native advertising format has a direct impact on the advertised brands and thus ensures increased branding effects: Almost three quarters (74 percent) directly associate the positive feeling when viewing the native advertising format with the advertised brand. With traditional pre-roll ads, only 59 percent make a direct connection between the brand and the advertising medium. Context-sensitive moving image advertising therefore offers a decisive advantage for advertisers: 71 percent of internet users perceive brands that are advertised with native advertising formats in the thematically relevant context of the website much more positively than with traditional pre-roll ads (59 percent).

"For advertisers and media agencies, these figures from the latest Nielsen study mean one thing above all: brand campaigns with native advertising formats achieve significantly stronger branding thanks to their high user acceptance. The study thus officially confirms what Ebuzzing's advertising customers have long known. Finally, our native video advertising format Inread is characterized by a particularly high level of content relevance. To this end, the advertising medium is based on a semantic context targeting algorithm developed by Ebuzzing, which precisely analyzes the content of editorial articles and automatically selects the thematically appropriate video ad on the page," says David Mahoney, Managing Director at Ebuzzing.

About the study

The current Ebuzzing study was carried out in collaboration with Nielsen. For the measurements, two specific brand campaigns with the native advertising video format inRead from Ebuzzing were examined and compared with the perception of classic pre-roll ads on the same premium media sites. For this purpose, over 1600 internet users from the USA and the UK were surveyed in an online survey.
