Alpha 245 advertises fresh croissants from Rössler

The Alpha 245 agency has launched a campaign targeting drivers with the message: “You’ll find the freshest croissants at Rössler.”.

When it smells like warm croissants, all is right with the world. So if you're driving past the Rössler bakery billboard, even if you're still stuck in a traffic jam on a Monday morning, it's best to make a detour to the village bakery so that your car smells of fresh baked goods instead of synthetic Christmas trees.

Second Golden Record for organic song from Coop

With the song «Love» from the current Naturaplan campaign, Coop has already won its second gold record. Last year, Coop achieved this with the previous version by the Sons of Nature to mark Naturaplan’s 20th anniversary.

"Love," which is interpreted by the sister duo Lennon and Maisy, was able to win the iTunes charts as well as second place in the official Swiss hit parade just a few days after its launch. A total of over one million people watched the video for the song on Youtube.

"We are very pleased about the great success of the Naturaplan songs. It's great to see that music about the loving treatment of people, animals and nature is being heard so much," explains Philipp Wyss, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Coop. The two young newcomers and sisters Lennon (14) and Maisy (10) Stella from Canada, who have already achieved fame in Anglo-Saxon countries, sing the song about the love of nature. Like the previous version (see below), Roman Camenzind and Georg Schlunegger composed the new unplugged version. Coop is using the proceeds from the sale of the song for a good cause again this year.

In 2013, Coop celebrated the 20th anniversary of Coop Naturaplan. The Naturaplan range comprises more than 1700 products, all of which bear the Bio Suisse bud. Every third Coop customer has at least one organic product in their shopping basket. Thanks to strong Naturaplan growth in 2013, Coop achieved total sales of one billion Swiss francs with organic products for the first time, thus once again expanding its market leadership.

Habegger establishes subsidiary in Italy

Regensdorf-based event service provider Habegger is expanding into Italy and opening a branch office in Milan.

Having grown from the event technology sector over 30 years, Habegger has successfully established itself as a premium service provider for events and media installations. For years, Habegger has been implementing demanding large-scale projects as a technical general contractor, both nationally and internationally. In April 2014, Habegger is now establishing a subsidiary in Milan as a permanent representation in Italy. According to the press release, this step will enable the company to provide optimum support, especially for projects relating to the 2015 World Expo. Francesco Stendardo, an experienced project manager at Habegger, will head the agency in Milan.

Habegger's business activities are increasingly shifting to the entire spectrum of staging events - from creative conception to technical implementation. This increasingly includes the design of digital media and interactive communication tools in space. In her function as overall project manager, Habegger has already been able to implement many event and exhibition projects on an international and national scale, most recently large-scale projects for ABB, the Miss Switzerland contest, Art on Ice and also in Qatar. For exhibition projects at Expo Milano 2015, Habegger offers its clients the best possible conditions - broad professional experience and high-quality project management.

Francesco Stendardo takes over the management of the Milano office and the on-site coordination of all projects. He has many years of experience in the project management of challenging large-scale international projects. Francesco Stendardo has been working for Habegger for 10 years, is very familiar with all planning processes and speaks fluent Italian. The team on site is strengthened by two further employees who bring in-depth know-how in the coordination and planning of demanding large-scale projects: Peter Koley in the role of Business Development Manager and Gerarda Cirulli as Key Account Manager.

Habegger's branch is located directly at the Milano exhibition center and offers extensive storage and pre-installation facilities. Francesco Stendardo says, "In just a five-minute walk, we are live on site at the Expo area. But I believe our customers can also count on a particularly good starting point with us in other respects."

Media Focus: Advertising market shows slight growth

In April, the advertising market in Switzerland grew slightly. With advertising spending of 437 million francs, the market grew by 3.7 percent in April compared with the same month a year earlier, according to Media Focus’s Advertising Market Trend Report.

Bildschirmfoto-2014-05-19-um-21.37.10_0

In the advertising month of April 2014, the food industry recorded 21 percent (+8.8 million Swiss francs) more advertising pressure than in the same month last year. This positive development is also a holiday or Easter effect. Easter fell on the third weekend in April this year. For example, advertising print for chocolate and confectionery rose by a whopping 34 percent year-on-year, corresponding to an increase in advertising print of 2.9 million Swiss francs. Leading the way in this product group were the chocolate manufacturers Ferrero, Lindt & Sprüngli and Chocolat Frey.

Preparation for the voting month

In the month leading up to the federal referendum on May 18, 2014, political interest groups stepped up their advertising activities. In April, advertising pressure worth around CHF 8 million (+275 percent) was recorded in the political campaigns submarket. However, the advertising communication around the Gripen fighter aircraft was almost exclusively determined by the proponents. While the supporters claimed an advertising print of 1.1 million Swiss francs in April, the No camp was almost absent with an advertising print of only 55,000 Swiss francs.

Minus trend in the vehicle market

In April, the vehicle market recorded a 12 percent (-5.5 million Swiss francs) lower advertising print than a year ago. This continued the downward trend in this submarket that has been ongoing since December. The detailed analysis shows that advertising pressure between January and April 2014 fell year-on-year, particularly for mid-range vehicles (-61 percent, -9.3 million Swiss francs) and SUVs (-16.4 percent, -9.4 million Swiss francs). SUVs (-16.4 percent, -5.0 million Swiss francs) declined significantly. Nevertheless, the vehicle sector is still the submarket with the highest share of advertising print in the overall market in 2014 (10.6 percent).

Highlight Communications halves net profit

Highlight Communications, a media group listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, increased its revenue by just under 54 percent to 125.7 million Swiss francs in the first quarter of 2014. The rise in revenue was driven by the film segment.

This was announced by the company on Monday. Operating expenses, however, also climbed significantly by a good 36 percent to 137.2 million Swiss francs, mainly due to depreciation and impairments. Despite the higher expenses than sales, the company posted a profit. The Group's quarterly profit halved to one million Swiss francs from 2.2 million in the previous year. For 2014 as a whole, the company continues to expect sales of between 380 and 410 million Swiss francs and a positive consolidated result for shareholders of between nine and eleven million Swiss francs. In 2013, the profit of the Swiss film and sports rights marketer slumped from 26.3 to 10.3 million Swiss francs (Werbewoche.ch reported).

Last but not least: The traffic light poster

To wake up drowsy drivers, Nescafé in Mexico has linked a digital billboard to a light signal.

In the huge metropolis of Mexico City, it seems to be a common problem that drowsy drivers no longer take traffic signals very seriously. Red is quickly reinterpreted as "clear ahead". The reason for the many sleepy, inattentive road users: the city is so big that residents have to get up at the crack of dawn to get to work on time after a long drive. Those who are not yet fully awake quickly overlook this and that. It would be better if Mexicans would treat themselves to a coffee before setting off. Whether it really has to be Nescafé is debatable. The main thing is caffeine. Nestlé's instant brew - or more precisely, the Marcel DF agency - came up with the idea for the illuminated poster. The digital Nescafé poster was placed directly next to a light signal and synchronized so that it switched to red, yellow and green at the same time. Digital outdoor advertising has potential. So does Nescafé - at least in this context. (hae)

New postbus promotes nature parks

On the outside, it features photos of nature parks; on the inside, it smells like fresh forest air: With a new PostBus, the Swiss Parks Network, PostBus Switzerland, and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) are promoting travel by public transportation to Switzerland’s 16 regional nature parks.

The new Postbus was unveiled on the Bundesplatz on Monday. In addition to Franziska Schwarz, Deputy Director of the Federal Office of the Environment, Daniel Landolf, Head of PostBus, and Stefan Müller-Altermatt, President of Swiss Parks, were also present at the inauguration. The parks are well connected to the public transport system and PostBus plays a very important role as a feeder service to all parks, said Landolf. This fact was the trigger for the "With Postbus to the Swiss parks" campaign
has been. Until October 31, the special vehicle will be in use as a regular bus service in various regions of Switzerland and as a shuttle at events, as detailed in a press release on Monday. For example, the vehicle will be used on August 1 at the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Swiss National Park in the Zernez GR region and at the Locarno TI film festival. With the campaign, the organizers want to draw attention to the wide range of offers that the parks have to offer excursionists. There are currently 16 parks in operation throughout Switzerland, with four more in the construction phase. (SDA)

Bar as exhibition stand at the X Days 14

For the third consecutive year, EMC commissioned Match Communications to design and build its exhibition booth for the X Days 14 ICT Congress.

Match Communications developed the "del Campione" coffee bar as an exhibition stand - a place for connoisseurs and for good conversations. This fits, says a press release from the agency, because EMC is a key player, because the dolci from world champion confectioner Rolf Mürner made you forget any diet for a moment, and because the professional baristas conjured up the finest coffee at the fair and served 1,500 portions.

Visitor expectations at the stand were clearly exceeded on the two days of the congress, the statement continues. In addition to the booth concept, Match Communications was also responsible for the development and implementation of the follow-up measures.

Geri Aebi new president of BSW

At the 79th General Meeting on May 16, 2014, there will be a change in leadership at the BSW. Nadine Borter, owner of Contexta, will hand over the presidency to Geri Aebi, CEO and co-owner of the Wirz Group, as planned after two years.

As a creative with a background in business administration, the new BSW President brings with him many years of entrepreneurial experience to continue positioning and profiling the industry association as a quality label for effective communication in economically challenging times, according to a statement from the association on Friday.

Geri Aebi announced to the almost full attendance of members that he would primarily continue the successful work of his predecessor. He defined his strategic priorities as, among other things, the claim to leadership as a representative of the profession on important issues, emphasizing the investment security of leading swiss agencies for clients, advocating fair and transparent remuneration that respects the value of ideas and their use, and promoting training and further education for the industry. Last but not least, he sees the SWA, the advertising client association, as an important partner for the agencies, with whom more "common cause" could be made in the mutual endeavor for effective and efficient communication.

As the previous President Nadine Borter explained in her opening speech, BSW can look back on a challenging and eventful year. New technologies that entail new communication formats, a fast-moving market with challenging competitive conditions and a changing political environment present agencies with a multitude of tasks that need to be successfully mastered. According to Borter, it is undisputed that developing attractive and effective advertising is not a matter of course, but requires great skill and corresponding experience. It is precisely this expertise that can be found primarily at BSW agencies, as their very high proportion among the winners of a Swiss EFFIE Award 2014 showed once again.

To warm applause, Christof Kaufmann of Aegis Media and Urs Schneider of Mediaschneider were dismissed from the BSW Board. At the same time, Roman Hirsbrunner, CEO of Jung von Matt/Limmat, was welcomed as the new Vice Chairman and Manfred Strobl, CEO of Omnicom Media Group Switzerland, as a new member of the Board.
