Vizner Borel spreads World Cup fever for Denner

Denner is currently spreading World Cup fever across the country and offering retro soccer jerseys from Switzerland and Brazil at a special price. Vizner Borel is responsible for developing and promoting the campaign.

With Denner's "One for all" positioning, Switzerland's third-largest retailer is also the best choice for all-round successful football celebrations during the World Cup, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. Denner is therefore selling retro football shirts at a special price to mark the major sporting event.

The Zurich-based communications agency is advertising the campaign on TV and on posters with a rousing, surprising duel. The match between Switzerland and Brazil can be seen throughout Switzerland from now until the World Cup. And takes the Swiss to the Copacabana - or to the nearest Denner store - with plenty of rhythm.

New dress for women's magazine Edelweiss

Edelweiss, the fashion and lifestyle magazine for French-speaking Switzerland, will be released on Wednesday, May 21, with a new design. The Paris-based agency Funny Bones was commissioned to develop the concept.

New layout, new editor-in-chief: 2014 is a year of change for Edelweiss, according to a statement issued by the publishing house on Wednesday. The primary task of the new appearance is to optimize reading comfort. The Paris-based graphic design studio Funny Bones, which was already entrusted with a layout assignment in April 2005, is now well acquainted with the world of the trendsetter magazine. The brief this time was to give the magazine a more colorful and cosmopolitan look, but also to give it a dynamic, bold and modern appearance.

As announced on April 22, Alexandre Lanz succeeded Laurence Desbordes at the helm of the glossy magazine as of May 1, 2014. The new Editor-in-Chief had been Head of Fashion and Music since January and before that Editor-in-Chief of the women's magazine Profil. After his initial training in fashion, he turned to journalism.

Last but not least: Ikea writes family history

Statistically speaking, about one in ten Europeans was conceived in an IKEA bed, according to the Swedish furniture retailer. A new campaign vividly brings this fact to mind.

The print posters show family trees that not only reveal who descended from whom, but also who was conceived in which Ikea bed. The ancestry pictures go back to the 1940s, to the time of Ikea's first bed models. "Where familiy starts" is the name of the campaign, for which the agency Thjnk from Hamburg is responsible.

The family trees also suggest that only the children of the youngest generation were also conceived on Ikea tables or Ikea washing machines. Whether this is also statistically proven? (sis)

Republica makes science tangible

Republica invites visitors to four shopping centers operated by the Migros Aare cooperative to immerse themselves in the world of science. Based on a roadshow concept developed by Migros Aare, the agency organized the tour in collaboration with Technorama.

Over the next few months, the "Technorama on Tour" exhibition will be visiting the four Migros Aare shopping centers, Shoppyland, Panorama Center, Gäupark and Westside, one after the other. The roadshow was realized in collaboration with the Technorama in Winterthur. It allows visitors to the shopping centers to actively experience science by means of 15 selected experiments and thus offers intelligent entertainment. The concept for "Technorama on Tour" as well as the staging of the roadshow and the realization of numerous accompanying measures were created by the Republica agency.

Pin screen gives a foretaste

To draw attention to the exhibition, Republica and the stand builders from Frey und Frey staged one of the 15 exhibits at Bern railroad station and before the exhibition began in the respective center. A specially built pin screen with around 1600 pins allowed passers-by to make life-size 3D impressions, giving them a foretaste of "Technorama on Tour". The roadshow was also advertised with the pin idea, albeit in 2D, on posters, railboards and flyers as well as a special mailing to schools in the region.

Responsible at Republica: Chris Morgan (creative direction), Aysun Sentürk (senior consulting), You-Jin Sin (consulting), Simon Matz (art direction), Mike Krüll (concept and text), Yves Kamber (concept and text), Gaby Jaquet (events), Alexandre Jaquet (events), Bala Trachsel (overall responsibility), Frey und Frey (stand construction/pin screen). Responsible at the Migros Aare Cooperative: Patrizia von Gunten (Head of Strategic Marketing Communication). Responsible at Swiss Science Center Technorama: Roy Schedler (Head of Marketing and Partnerships).

Stefan Zweifel loses position as literature club presenter

Literary critic Stefan Zweifel has been removed as host of the program «Literaturclub.» Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) explained the decision, stating that «it would be difficult for him, as host, to bring his strengths as a sharp-witted critic to bear.».

The SRF media office confirmed an article in the Tages-Anzeiger and Bund newspapers on Wednesday, which had reported on Zweifel's dismissal. Apparently, the 46-year-old critic, who had led the show since fall 2012, was offered a position as an ordinary member of the literature club panel.

"Stefan Zweifel always stands out with his clever, original and very passionate speeches. I like his knowledge of literature and his approach to discussing literature," SRF told the news agency SDA. However, SRF would not comment on ongoing personnel discussions.

According to the Tages-Anzeiger and Bund article, Zweifel has set several conditions for a return as a regular literary club critic - a role he already held from 2007 to 2012. One of them concerns the dispute Zweifel had with his colleague Elke Heidenreich on the show on April 22. The two came to blows over an alleged quote from German philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) that Heidenreich had introduced. Zweifel requested a statement from the editorial team. However, SRF has now stated that it will "not take up this dispute retrospectively". (SDA)

Federal Council wants to ban cigarette advertising altogether

In the future, people under 18 will no longer be allowed to buy cigarettes. Even the Marlboro Man could disappear from billboards for good: With a new law, the Federal Council is proposing to largely ban advertising for tobacco products.

According to the draft Tobacco Products Act presented on Wednesday, advertising will only be permitted at kiosks and vending machines as well as in specialist publications. The Federal Council wants to ban advertising on posters, in cinemas and in print and electronic media. Advertising campaigns in which cigarettes are sold at a reduced price would also no longer be permitted.

Although the Federal Council places the protection of young people in the foreground, according to its proposals, sponsorship is still permitted under certain conditions. This would mean that open air events, which are mainly frequented by young people, would be exempt from the ban.

Cigarette advertising on radio and television is already banned. Many cantons have issued a ban on advertising on posters, and in some cinemas it is already no longer permitted to advertise tobacco products. In several cantons, the sale of cigarettes to minors is also already prohibited.

Cinemas suffer in particular

Last year, the tobacco industry invested around CHF 21 million in the Swiss advertising market. Discounts as part of an advertising campaign are not included in this figure. This puts the tobacco industry at the bottom of the 24 sectors surveyed by Media Focus. By comparison, a gross amount of CHF 500 million is invested in food advertising each year. In total, expenditure on traditional advertising media such as TV, print, posters, radio and digital amounted to CHF 4.84 billion in Switzerland in 2013.

Cinemas, where advertising revenue from tobacco advertising accounts for almost six percent of total advertising revenue, would be severely affected by an advertising ban. The Federal Council's proposals for a new Tobacco Products Act will now go out for consultation. This will last until September 12, 2014 (SDA).

Contexta: Further development of the CSS campaign

Contexta is further developing its campaign for CSS Insurance. The existing brand promise, «Ganz persönlich,» is being reimagined to appeal to everyone who wants to be seen by their insurance provider as a person with individual needs.

Contexta is taking CSS Insurance to the next level with its recent Gold Effie-winning campaign. The central message: there is no one customer. There are people with very different needs. The cross-media campaign brings this basic idea to life emotionally across all channels and celebrates everyday and human differences. There is not just one type of cloud, there is not just one belly - and there is not just one standardized customer.

With its new campaign, CSS Insurance is taking a stand: At CSS, I'm more than just a client. At CSS, I am a person. "With this implementation, we have succeeded in further developing the basic idea of the brand promise in a coherent and successful way," said Nadine Borter, Managing Director of Contexta, in a press release issued on Wednesday. The decisive factor here is the evidence provided in day-to-day business: "Over the last three years, we at CSS have consistently aligned our services with this brand promise and comprehensively optimized our brand management," says Reto Schertenleib, Head of Marketing Communication. "After all, the company's attitude must be credible and actually lived by its employees. This is a challenge for CSS as a whole".

Wirz for Migros: Second round in the Battle of Tastes

The Battle of Tastes turns into a battle of bands. In the second Battle of Tastes, fans can vote for two new Aproz O2 flavors. Aproz Raspberry-Lime, represented by the girl group Pink Berry, faces off against Aproz Pineapple-Lime, presented by the DJ duo Fruchtkreis 3000.

In the shrill mashup video, the two Aproz bands fight each other in a famously exaggerated manner. Thanks to the energizing Aproz O2, Pink Berry dance all day and get annoyed by the parties of Fruchtkreis 3000, who party the night away with the wake-up drink.

The Battle of Tastes project launches as a promotion as part of the recently launched "From us. From here." campaign, which aims to bring Migros' own brands closer to customers. In each case, two new varieties of a Migros own brand will compete against each other, represented by two bands. The second of several planned battles kicked off with Aproz O2 this weekend and already racked up more than 1'000 views shortly after its launch, Wirz wrote in a statement Wednesday.

Responsible at Migros: Roman Reichelt (Head of Umbrella Brand), Philipp Kuonen (Project Manager Umbrella Brand/CI/CD), Christian Steinacker (Senior Project Manager Digital Marketing Strategy), Mathias Christen (Junior Project Manager Digital Marketing Strategy), Hansueli Siber (Head of Marketing), Marc Engelhard (Head of Marketing Communications).
