Vizner Borel: Swiss Print Award for DE Druck

Vizner Borel wins a Swiss Print Award for DE Druck with its 80-page brochure.

In keeping with DE Druck's claim that "anything is possible," a brochure has been created that is a real visual and haptic experience. On more than eighty pages plus packaging, the first-class print shop exploits all the possibilities of modern printing art. This is combined with a correspondingly impressive design. This brochure won a Swiss Print Award in 2014. Whereas this year, almost 50 works were submitted with a diversity like seldom before. Swiss advertisers, designers, printers and bookbinders have taken another step forward. And with them the "Swiss Print Award 2014". Material diversity, multimedia and multidimensional are on display. There is no trace of a lack of ideas in the industry. But instead, all the more printed matter that makes you "want to print".

Last but not least: So let he who binds himself to whom be tested

In Norway, the announcement of a 37-year-old man’s marriage to a 12-year-old girl has sparked a storm of outrage. Quite rightly so, one might say. And entirely calculated, one must add.

Thea's "marriage blog" went online on September 12. The twelve-year-old announced in childlike exuberance that she would marry her 37-year-old boyfriend on October 11, 2014.

Unbenanntes_Panorama4

From then on, Norway's first child bride described the preparations for the big celebration in detail - with girlish pictures, just like thousands of blogging teenagers do. Cakes, wedding dresses, selfies. The invitation card was also proudly presented - accompanied, as always, by a torrent of indignant comments.

...the blog visitors were even allowed to take part in the search for the perfect wedding dress:

Unbenannt-25_6

Theasbryllup.blogg.no became the most visited blog in Norway within a very short space of time. And at some point it must have dawned on the last visitor that the story was too absurd to be true. At the latest when the page was supplemented with information from the child protection organization Plan. Namely that October 11 - the planned marriage date - is International Girls' Day. And that the story that caused such a stir in Norway is part of everyday life in other parts of the world. 39,000 girls worldwide are married off against their will and robbed of their childhood prematurely - every day!

Thea's initial euphoria also seems to have faded. In the latest entry on October 8, she talks (according to Google Translate) about her long-standing dream of becoming a vet - and how her mother talked her out of it because she was getting married soon and therefore didn't need a job or training. The blog will probably continue until October 11 - but the campaign will continue to cause a stir for some time afterwards. (hae)

TBWA founding member Wiesendanger in Zurich

TBWA\Zurich had long wanted to invite Uli Wiesendanger, one of the founders of TBWA, to Zurich to learn more about the agency’s history. On October 3, the time had finally come.

Wiesendanger presented himself to the numerous audience members from the agency and clientele. It was an exhilarating moment when Uli Wiesendanger took to the stage at Café Che and shared insights into his life story in conversation with Radio Zürisee Managing Director Tony Immer. Uli Wiesendanger, the W of TBWA, originally started his career after graduating from high school with a commercial apprenticeship at an agency in Zurich. His career was shaped, among other things, by a subsequent detour to PKZ, where he was able to deal intensively with good advertising on the client side for the first time. He soon moved on to Young & Rubicam in Frankfurt, New York and Paris. And this soon brought him together with strategic thinker Bonnange, businessman Tragos and service-oriented Airoldi. The vision was soon clear: to build a network with little financial outlay that would be active worldwide from day one.

Uli-Wiesendanger_Toy-Immer_

TBWA was founded in Paris in 1970, and other offices such as Milan, Frankfurt and London were immediately added. In Germany, Michael Conrad was even hired in the first phase, and John Hegarty in England. Thus the company development took its course and soon TBWA could be counted among the largest networks in the world. In 1998, the founders decided to sell to Omnicom.

Uli-Wiesendanger

Uli Wiesendanger left the inspiring impression that one might expect from him. As a Swiss, and at the same time creative, to set out into the big world, to found a network with a big vision, takes courage, pragmatism and a lot of joy in what you do. And he has retained this passion to this day and was able to convey it well last Friday.

Ombudsman understands puff criticism

The anniversary episode of SRF’s «Samschtig-Jass» caused some viewers to blush: Two people contacted the ombudsman because of a segment filmed at a brothel in Thurgau. The ombudsman expressed understanding.

The shoot was inappropriate, he wrote in a statement on Tuesday. For the 750th anniversary broadcast of the Jass show, outside presenter Reto Scherrer was looking for telephone jass players in special places - and found them in a brothel in Thurgau of all places. The boss of the establishment became a telephone jasser. The ombudsman received two complaints about this program. One viewer criticized SRF for giving the impression that everything in a brothel was "harmless, cute and cheerful". However, the trade portrayed was contemptuous of women. The second critic felt that, as a Catholic, he had been taken for a fool because a nun was also sitting at the Jass table in this program. Inappropriate, but not crossing the line

As ombudsman Achille Casanova writes in his statement, he understands the critical reactions. The fact that outside presenter Scherrer ended up in a brothel, of all places, was inappropriate. However, the program did not overstep the legal boundaries. In his verdict, the ombudsman fully agrees with SRF director Ruedi Matter, who had already criticized the programme himself. The anniversary program was certainly not a journalistic flight of fancy, Matter told Blick. But it was not a scandal either, especially as the scenes shown were adult-friendly. (SDA)

Last but not least: Snickers with nuts and beans

Following in the footsteps of the feisty divas Liza Minnelli, Aretha Franklin, and Joan Collins, Snickers is now introducing Mr. Bean as its new spokesperson—much to the delight of viewers.

"You're not yourself when you're hungry!" - this is how the global Snickers campaign has been exposing hungry men who behave like annoying divas and only become socially acceptable again by eating chocolate bars for almost three years. The diva principle was funny, but after what felt like 10,000 TV broadcasts, the audience probably started to laugh it off. So it's time for a new advertising face: Mr. Bean! The popular island bumpkin finds himself in wonderful martial arts parodies created by AMV BBDO - at least until the fallible fighter has had his snack. The audience applauds and in just three days Snickers UK achieves millions of views on YouTube. Perhaps the campaign could run for a year or two less this time - after all, you should always stop when it's best. (hae)
