Last but not least: Turning the handicap into an advantage

If you want to go down in history as a rock legend, you have to deviate a little from the norm. Just making good music is not enough. Ozzy Osbourne knows how to do it.

If you want to go down in history as a rock legend, you have to deviate a little from the norm. Just making good music is not enough. Even our Polo proves this: vehement political commitment to the legalization of hemp and always a good saying and a good dose of oddness in his luggage. Even the MTV series "The Osbournes" did nothing to diminish the fame of the English rock star Ozzy Osbourne, who has become quite confused in the meantime. On the contrary, it even enhanced it: even though Ozzy is raising a spoiled snob family in his huge house in Hollywood, spends his time doing useless things, has become hard of hearing and mumbles badly, he somehow remains very likeable. In a new TV commercial for Samsung Ozzy has even been able to earn good money with his linguistic handicap. The solution to his problems: simply send a quick text message.

Competition Commission gives Sunrise green light for Tele2 takeover

The Competition Commission approves the takeover of Tele2 by Sunrise. The takeover of Tele2 expands Sunrise's customer base and strengthens its market position.

The Competition Commission approves the takeover of Tele2 by Sunrise. By taking over Tele2, Sunrise is expanding its customer base and strengthening its market position. Of the former 490,000 Tele2 customers in Switzerland, there are still 460,000 customers left that Sunrise can take over, Sunrise CEO Christoph Brand told the news agency SDA.
Tele2 will continue to exist as a brand, as will the existing Tele2 products. The 53 employees will be taken over and will continue to be employed at their current place of work or within Sunrise.
Tele2 had been operating in Switzerland since 1998. In the second half of 2008, the provider generated sales of CHF 115 million, but suffered an operating loss of CHF 2.6 million. Tele2 only entered the cell phone business in 2005, several years after its competitors. The company concentrated its cell phone antennas in the large conurbations. In order to achieve nationwide coverage, Tele2 agreed with Sunrise to share the latter's mobile network. As a result of the takeover, Sunrise now has Tele2's mobile phone license and its mobile phone antennas, which should improve coverage.
However, Sunrise will not be able to keep Tele2's mobile communications license permanently, but it will revert to the state by the end of the year at the latest, said Peter Bär, Secretary of the Federal Communications Commission (Comcom). During the takeover phase, Comcom wants to grant Sunrise a transitional period for the use of Tele2 mobile radio frequencies so that Tele2 customers do not suffer any loss of quality.

The economic downturn is having a significant impact on the Swiss advertising business: In October, advertising pressure fell by a full 7.6% compared to the previous year. Telecom companies in particular were reluctant to advertise.
As the market research institute Media Focus announced on Thursday, of the three major telecoms companies in Switzerland, only Orange increased its advertising pressure in October. This resulted in a 30.5% decline for the entire telecoms market in October.
Advertising pressure also fell sharply in the beverages segment (-24.8%), household goods and appliances (-23.5%) and consumer electronics including photo and film (-21.6%). Tobacco products, on the other hand, grew by a whopping 220.3%. In the energy sector, advertising pressure increased by 23.2%. Media Focus attributes this to rising advertising expenditure for the image of electricity companies, which has been damaged by rising prices in the liberalized electricity market.
The decline affected the individual media to varying degrees. In the print sector, the financial and business press suffered the biggest slump with a drop of 14.4%. Among the losers in the electronic media were cinema (-17.6%) and public television (-15.7%). In contrast, Internet advertising (+47.4%) and teletext (+28.8%) defied the downward trend, according to Media Focus.
