Business4you stages Hagneck hydropower plant

The Biel-based marketing agency Business4you curated the newly created visitor center at the Hagneck hydroelectric power plant, designed the indoor and outdoor exhibits, and organized the opening events on October 23–24, 2015.

Bielersee Kraftwerke (BIK), a partner plant of BKW and Energie Service Biel/Bienne (ESB), operates the hydroelectric power plant on the Aare-Hagneck Canal alongside the power plants in Bözingen and Brügg: the most modern and advanced in Switzerland.

"What blood is to man, water is to the earth", reads a quote from Hermann Lahm on the walls of the Hagneck hydroelectric power plant. The wall prints were designed by Business4you as part of the staging of the new visitor center and the associated exhibition. The main task was to convey the complex topic of electricity generation from hydropower and the sustainability of the power plant to the public in an understandable and interactive way as part of a positive image transfer. This included the visual design of the interior and exterior as well as the conception of a flexible visitor tour and various communication tools that can be used for other purposes in addition to the guided tours. Among other things, the rough concept and script for the image film "From the drop of water to the socket" was created.

A presentation on the history of the weir, a magnetic wall and floor prints are also part of the exhibition design. Business4you was also responsible for a picture gallery about the creation of the new hydroelectric power plant in the weir corridor and a time-lapse film about the construction of the weir. In addition, there is a signage and labeling concept that includes information boards, illustrative comparisons and philosophical quotes on the subject of water, which pick up visitors at different levels of understanding. In addition to registered visitor groups, passers-by seeking relaxation also find their way to the Hagneck hydropower plant, which is why more detailed information boards were designed for them in the outdoor area. Even cyclists passing the weir spontaneously stop to read.

The staging in and around the visitor center included the definition and development of a joint appearance for the partner plants BKW and ESB. In this regard, Business4you developed, designed and implemented the logo, business cards, a new color concept and the clothing for the visitor guides. In addition, the structure of the existing website was revised and the layout of the PowerPoint presentations was given a new look. A total of 20 elements were implemented in various designs and materials, from the aluminum information board to the fish as a floor print, and in two languages.

In addition to staging the visitor center, business4you was also tasked with designing and implementing the opening celebrations. For the VIP event for invited guests from business and politics on Friday, 23 October, and the open day for the public on Saturday, 24 October, an event concept was developed, the events organized and supervised on site. For the VIP event, business4you took over the invitation process in advance and organized and set up the stage technology and infrastructure for the presentations by representatives from BKW, ESB, politics and the municipality. - Of course, special effects at the turbine start and oversized Plexiglas keys for the official handover of the keys to the hydropower plant to Barbara Schwickert, Vice-Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of BIK and Biel municipal councillor, were a must.

Because BIK wanted to offer both guided and free-flow tours to the public on the open day, business4you developed a signage concept that covered both requirements. This included various site plans, signposts and information signs.

However, as all expectations were exceeded on Saturday with 7,500 visitors, only the free-flow tours were offered. The interested crowd of visitors therefore explored the interior and exterior areas of the hydropower plant on their own, looked at pictures and videos of how it was built and had the function of the turbines explained to them by experts. - As is well known, both the official opening and the open day for the public generated an enormous media response, which ultimately benefits not only the new hydropower plant but also renewable energies in general. Last but not least: I am also a picnic blanket

Advertisements can be pretty handy. For example, when you can use them as a picnic blanket.

We are already familiar with posters that you can tear off and take with you from New York: the Mullen Lowe agency asked passers-by to "steal" the posters on behalf of the airline Jetblue and gave away vouchers (Werbewoche.ch reported). Rosapark from Paris took an even more direct approach to reusing advertising subjects: take a poster, get a picnic blanket. And rather pretty blankets designed by illustrators. The dispenser is the trendy French drink Fruits and Wine - a mixture of... that's right, fruit and wine. According to Net "a wine drink with a low alcohol content that combines the fine fruit flavor of natural fruit juice or extract with the fresh character of wine." In the past, printed bath towels were handed out as promotional gifts - today, picnic blankets are hung on poster stands. (hae)

Spotify maintains same offer in free and subscription version

The streaming service explains that paying Spotify customers and free users will continue to have access to the same music library. Just a few hours earlier, the Wall Street Journal had reported on plans to the contrary.

Spotify is sticking to its current procedure, in which all customers can access the same music, a spokesperson said on Wednesday. "We believe 100 percent in our freemium business model." The Wall Street Journal had reported late on Tuesday that Spotify wanted to break a previous taboo and allow some artists to make their albums available only to paying subscription customers. Users of the ad-financed free version would then have to do without this music. Spotify has held out the prospect of this as a test in talks with music managers, according to sources close to the matter. Founder and CEO Daniel Ek has always emphasized that such a two-tier system would annoy users and was therefore out of the question. A year ago, Spotify preferred to let the popular singer Taylor Swift go rather than violate the principle. Swift removed her music from Spotify, but it is still available on competing services without a free version.

Free version brings less money

In the free version, the functions are limited, for example you cannot access individual songs. Ad-financed services generate significantly less money for music companies and artists. In recent months, there have been repeated calls from the music industry to make the free versions of streaming services less attractive by imposing further restrictions. Providers warned that this could drive users back into the hands of internet pirates instead of paying for subscriptions. They also point to competition from the video platform YouTube, where the music companies themselves place videos that can be viewed for free. Spotify from Sweden is considered the market leader in the streaming business and, according to the latest figures from June, has over 75 million users, of which around 20 million are paying subscription customers. With streaming, the music is played directly from the network instead of being downloaded. (SDA)

All the Lego buildings were made available to Watson for reporting in the run-up to the Federal Council elections. The news portal used the National Council Chamber to recreate the course of the Federal Council election in a stop-motion video and at the same time presented its own forecast on the outcome of the election. The video was very well received on social media and initiated some discussions on today's Federal Council election.

Springer brings classified advertising business back into the Group

The German media group Axel Springer has regained full control of its highly profitable online classifieds business. The Berlin-based company is taking over the remaining 15 percent of the joint venture Digital Classifieds from its partner General Atlantic.

This was announced by Springer on Wednesday. In return, the US financial investor will receive 8.3 percent of Springer's shares, making it the second-largest shareholder in the group, which publishes the Bild and Welt newspapers. The car, job and real estate advertising business is Springer's biggest growth driver and profit generator. "It is the economic backbone and contributes around half of the company's operating profit," Group CEO Mathias Döpfner told investors.

In spring 2012, Springer founded a joint venture with General Atlantic to drive growth in the promising digital sector. The Americans acquired a 30 percent stake at the time. Following numerous acquisitions and positive business figures, Springer announced a year ago that it would buy out General Atlantic in two phases.

In Switzerland, Axel Springer is relying on a joint venture for the magazine business with the media company Ringier. The portfolio of Axel Springer Switzerland includes Der Beobachter, Tele, Bilanz and Handelszeitung as well as various online platforms. (SDA)

With the timetable change, Bernmobil runs with Hofer

The Hofer Kommunikation BSW agency developed the creative concept for the «2015 Schedule Change» campaign for Bernmobil, the public transportation operator of the City of Bern.

The core of the campaign is the key visual and the message that bus line 11 now runs directly from the main station to Inselspital. With a visual illustrated in 3D, public transport is connected to the Inselspital in a witty way. Hanging boxes, banners, posters, advertisements and a radio spot were realized.

Airport agency: full painting mailing

The agency at the airport is promoting the advertising space on VBZ trams through a special mailing.

The Cobra streetcars in Zurich offer the space to communicate brands and their message on a large scale. Five streetcars are ready for full painting. To get more campaigns onto the streetcars, the airport agency created a door-opener mailing for VBZ Trafficmedia - the internal marketers of the advertising space. This involves sending out a set of paints and advertising stickers specially individualized to the brands of the target customers. If the customer requests an appointment for consultation, he is visited with a snow-white model streetcar. The customer can thus use the design set to try out how passengers and passers-by perceive his brand on the streetcars every day in the Limmatstadt.
