Keystone distributes images from Agence Vu and Lonely Planet

Keystone has entered into two new exclusive partnerships. The Swiss photo agency now also distributes images from the two agencies, Agence Vu and Lonely Planet.

The French agency Agence Vu stands for contemporary photographers and renowned award winners from all over the world. It was founded in 1986 by Christian Caujolle and Zina Rouabah. Unlike other picture agencies, the agency differentiates itself explicitly through its photographers and not through the picture itself.
Lonely Planet not only stands for travel and language guides, but also offers a comprehensive archive of photographs from all over the world. The Lonely Planet collection captures the diversity of the world's major cities and countries. Not only popular destinations, but also everyday scenes and places away from the tourist hype complement the Australian agency's world of images.

Veer: Customer protection for low-cost images

Veer, a manufacturer and provider of visual elements and design-related products, announced today the launch of a new customer protection program that automatically covers all customers who purchase microstock content from the Veer Marketplace.

For purchases in the Veer Marketplace, customers are covered up to a sum of 10,000 dollars. This claim can be used for legal costs in the event of a legal dispute regarding an image, for example. With this insurance, the Corbis company wants to live up to its responsibility to ensure that image material purchased from Veer Marketplace and used within the scope of the Veer Marketplace license terms does not violate copyright or data protection regulations.
We make sure that all images from our carefully selected photographers meet the highest quality standards, have been approved by the models and rights holders and that there are no copyright issues, says Aaron Booth, Senior Director Creative Content at Veer.
Veer Marketplace is one of the safest online sources for licensed images, according to a Corbis press release. Veer employs teams that vet images from the community to the highest standards to ensure that extensive legal and ethical requirements are met. The new customer protection offered by Veer Marketplace provides security when licensing images from the large selection, which includes hundreds of images from as little as one dollar.

Pepsi: Less TV advertising, more social media

The soft drink manufacturer Pepsi is scaling back its TV advertising and stepping up its social media activities instead. After 23 years of consistent advertising, the soft drink giant is for the first time opting not to run commercials during the broadcast of the Super Bowl final in the U.S.

Market observers estimate the company's advertising expenditure around last year's Super Bowl at around 15 million US dollars. Some of the savings are now being invested in social media activities, above all in the "Pepsi Refresh" project, as reported by the industry service Horizont.net. The corresponding website is to be launched in mid-January. According to the Wall Street Journal, Pepsi wants to transfer donations to community projects selected by consumers. 20 million US dollars have been earmarked for this. At the same time, the manufacturer wants to increase its spending on online advertising by 60 percent this year. Pepsi justifies the move towards the web by saying that this is the best way to appeal to younger target groups.
