Y&R Group: "We make you safer"

The Y&R Group has created new TV commercials for Basler Insurance and SoBa Bank, in keeping with their slogan, «We make you safer.».

Anyone looking for interest rate conditions for variable or fixed mortgages was surprised with a mailing, TV commercials and various online measures from Basler Versicherungen and Bank SoBa. The Y&R Group designed TV spots to show where it makes sense to save money, namely on mortgages, and where it does not. The mailing was accompanied by a small safety gadget, the "bathtub alarm", which, according to the slogan, also protects against flooded bathtubs or water damage.
In addition, printed materials such as specially designed offer folders and sales folders were created for the sales force.
The TV spots will be running in February, the online measures from February 8 to the end of March.

Swiss Advertising names Simon Ammann communicator of the month

The Swiss advertising agency SW has named Simon Ammann its "Communicator of the Month" for February. They say he is a natural talent, which is because he doesn't hold back.

Simon Ammann is obviously not only a great talent in his sport, but also when it comes to communication. Ammann flickers across the screen to say that the fact that even some sports fans stick with the sports channel is not just down to his very special sunglasses. At least that is the opinion of Swiss advertisers. Rather, it is because he is himself and does not allow himself to be distracted by microphones or cameras.
The way he embraced Federal President Doris Leuthard after his first gold medal at the Olympics was great cinema, SW praised in a press release on Monday. And immediately quotes communication scientist Paul Watzlawick: "You can't not communicate! All behavior has a communicative character.". Amman's outbursts of joy are infectious and the message is genuine, SW continued. President Doris Leuthard told Schweizer Illustrierte: "I will remember Simon Ammann's hug for a long time". SW is convinced that half of Switzerland will do the same.

Maike Juchler, a federally certified publishing specialist and business economist, already has experience in the media industry. Swiss Advertising awards 39 diplomas for communication managers

Last Thursday, February 25, 39 successful graduates of the Federal Professional Examination for Communications Managers received their diplomas at Haus Appenzell in Zurich.

In his speech, the president of the examination committee, Urs Schneider, board member of Schweizer Werbung SW and owner of Mediaschneider, emphasized the importance of the professional examinations, as the communications industry needs practitioners who can prove their theoretical knowledge with this federal qualification.
The federal examinations are designed and conducted by the Swiss Advertising Association SW on behalf of the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology OPET. Oliver Huber, who works in the Special Units department at the media agency OMD Switzerland, was named the best graduate. Huber was rewarded for this special achievement with a travel voucher and a subscription to Touring magazine.
The 2009 class of communication managers achieved a success rate of 90.7 percent with 43 graduates and 39 diploma holders.

Last but not least: Unfair Oscar advertising for the "pain box"

A week before the Oscars were to be awarded, it was reported that one of the producers of the favorite, «The Hurt Locker,» had allegedly pressured the jury to vote for his film.

According to the Los Angeles Times, producer Nicola Chartier wrote an email to the jurors asking them to vote for his film and not for "that 500 million dollar movie". He was referring to the other big favorite, the 3D movie "Avatar". Chartier is said to have already apologized for his letter. Nevertheless, the producer is now facing consequences. The competition will be pleased. Because "Avatar" by James Cameron is nominated for nine Oscars, as is "The Hurt Locker" by his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow. So is this unfair advertising, or just a bad side blow in the marriage war? Who cares? The jury certainly doesn't. The Academy will perhaps issue a statement after the vote. However, sanctions are already being discussed behind closed doors, as SDA writes. So far, the Oscar jurors have shown themselves to be very sensitive in such situations. The producers of "Tiger and Dragon" are said to have already gotten into trouble because they submitted a DVD and a video cassette of their film to the jury instead of just one format, as prescribed.

Lucerne graphics student wins German Design Award

Lucerne graphics student Fabienne Angehrn has been awarded the German Design Award 2010 for a poster for the International Human Rights Forum Lucerne 2007.

The poster is reduced, clear in form and expression and fast in communication. Angehrn's poster "Incomplete" thus fulfills everything that a poster should achieve, the Lucerne State Chancellery quotes the jury's findings. The work was awarded the gold medal. It shows two pictogram figures: one is thin and looks nibbled on; the bitten-off parts hang on the other like fat bulges.

Success for Metadesign at this year's Rebrand Award

At this year’s Rebrand 100, two of Metadesign’s clients—Alpiq and Medi—were each honored with a «Best of Award» for the repositioning and redesign of their brands.

The new Alpiq brand was launched at the beginning of 2009. It was created from the merger of the Swiss electricity companies Atel and EOS and is present in 29 European countries, making it one of the continent's leading energy service providers. MetaDesign oversaw the development of the brand strategy and design right up to the launch and is still involved in ongoing brand communication today.
Medi is a global company in the healthcare market. It manufactures products for vascular diseases, orthopaedics, prosthetics and hospitals. The task of Metadesign was to express the repositioning of the brand from a basic care provider to a quality provider and to unite the four divisions under one umbrella brand.
The websites of Alpiq and Medi were rewarded with the 'Best of Award' for the step taken by the corporate brands, which is only given to the five best out of 100 award winners. Other Metadesign re-brandings were also honored: 'Distinction' was awarded to the work for Swiss health insurer Helsana, for global security software provider McAffee, for Munich Health, a brand for the global healthcare market, and for Chinese media house, Zhejiang Daily Press Group. The re-brandings for Deutsche Post DHL and the leading reinsurance company Munich Re were awarded a Notable.
Over 40 sectors from 21 countries are among the winners of 2010. The annually changing jury consisted of a multidisciplinary mix of 10 international industry experts.

SZ and BZ now appear as a two-bundle newspaper

This Monday, the Solothurner Zeitung SZ and the Basellandschaftliche Zeitung BZ appeared for the first time with two frets instead of the previous four. The papers want to emphasize their regional sections with the new concept.

The first bundle is dedicated to national topics and sport. In the second bundle, the newspapers, which belong to the AZ Medien Group, cover cantonal and regional events as well as culture and service topics. In this way, the strength of the regional and cantonal journalistic competence and anchoring is also formally emphasized, writes SZ on Monday.
The two titles from the Mittelland Zeitung MZ media association will take over the national pages. According to the media office of the AZ Medien Group, the Aargauer Zeitung will continue to be published with four bundles, as SDA writes on Monday. The Zofinger Tagblatt had already switched to the two-bundle concept at the beginning of the year.
